Team Profiles & Comparison Tool Preview Movie

Last week we launched a couple of brand new features in our Members Area – Team Profiles and the Team Comparison Tool.

We’ve felt for a long time that, while our tools provided in-depth analysis of player performance, often as Fantasy managers, we needed a similar view of how teams as a whole are performing.

The Team Profiles were the first step. These allow you to view a team’s data in detail and slice by any Gameweek interval – including the Last Four Gameweeks, Last Six Gameweeks, Home and Away or any specified Gameweek range.

Alongside the host of team statistics provided on the profile, we’ve also added to our arsenal of statistical maps, plotting the location of events on the pitch. Using these you can examine the occurrences of events such as Chances Created and Fouls Won to analyse the attacking patterns of terms. Similarly, you can flip these charts and assess any weaknesses in a team’s make-up by, for example, examining where chances are being conceded.

We’ve also included player data on the profiles so, when you choose a team to analyse, you can scroll down and view all the players that contribute to the Gameweek range you’re currently viewing for that team. This is a very effective way of assessing a team’s defensive qualities whilst, in the same screen, scanning their squad for the defenders who perhaps offer the most creativity and threat in attacking areas.

Having set up these profiles, we then extended our Comparison Tool to include them. Like the Player Comparison Tool, this enables you to assess two teams over a given Gameweek period and gain an immediate appraisal of how they compare. While this is useful for head-to-head comparisons, you can also use it to compare the same team over two different intervals to perhaps assess how they have progress or regressed in certain areas. We used this to compile our recent Technical Area article on Liverpool’s recent progress here.

Both these additions are live and available to our members.

Half-season memberships are still available for just £10. These will take up to the end of the season and expire on June 1. Click here for more details on how to register or upgrade.

In the meantime, here’s a movie we put together to preview the new features in use.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

this. Villa improved after the break yesterday( Sherwood's work?) and Benteke received the ball a lot more and had several half decent chances to score. He still looks far from his best though.

Qpr have been pretty free scoring at home, of course that may change with Harry gone. Swansea have Siggy back, while that may not change much in open play, it increases the set piece risk imo. That coupled with only 1 cs so far this year in the league

You mean 2015, instead of this season? Fair enough. 🙂

You can discount Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea, and then it's 2 goals conceded in 3 games in fixtures you might expect a CS. Not too bad.

    A- Wisdom to Naughton
    B - Cazorla to Eriksen
    C- Save
    D- Something else

Just did Wisdom to Naughton myself. Leaving 2 frees available for two reasons; one of anybody gets injured/banned this week I'll need to make a change to field 11 next week and also because I'd like 2 frees for the double so I can get Eriksen + Zouma in.

Just saw this somewhere else and thought it was good...

How to pick a team by Louis:

Goalkeeper: Always first choice = DDG

Fullbacks: If you can't defend, you're not playing = Valencia/Shaw

Right footed Central defender whoever is fit = Jones/Smalling/McNair

Left footed central defender whoever is fit = Rojo/Evans/Blackett

Only Decent non panicky Central Midfielder whoever is fit = Carrick/Blind

Supporting Midfielder player who needs to play because he has been strangely dropped for a few weeks and everyone is on my tits = Herrera/Mata/Fellaini/Januzaj

    Supporting Midfielder: Rooney because captaincy.

The please blow hot Attacking midfielder: Di Maria because he cost a lot of money (see formerly Nani)

    His Wife: RVP

    Mendes sponsored Custom selection: Falcao

    Subs:

    1) Non injured Defender who needs to come on after another is injured

    2) Oh feck : Fellaini

    3) See I play youth: Wilson comes on to run

It's between Walter Samuel and Taulant Xhaka.

Samuel would be the most logical choice as a like-for-like replacement for Schär - but he is extremely slow, especially at Champions League level (cf. his performance in FCB's 5-1 defeat to Real Madrid).

It was the flexible Xhaka who filled in as one of the three central defenders at the weekend for Basel after keeper Tomas Vaclik was (wrongly) sent off against Sion, and Xhaka looked comfortable against admittedly limited opponents.

I'd expect the following line-up from Basel against Porto:

      ---------------------Vaclik--------------------
      --Samuel/Xhaka---Suchy----Safari--
      Xhaka/Degen--Frei--Elneny--Gashi-
      -------Gonzalez----------Zuffi-------------
      -------------------Streller---------------------

Just another post re the DGW and the possible Chelsea inclusion.

If it turns out that Chelsea get the DGW along with Spurs it may be tempting to be all smug in our carefully thought out plan to have Xl starters for GW27 whilst benching three DGW players...but beware...Those who haven't planned and only start with 9 or 10 in GW27 may well have the last laugh in GW28 as we field some pretty naff looking starters from the previous week against their multi DGW picks.....including the likes of Costa and Cesc against our measly Defoe's...

    1. Les Bleus
      • 12 Years
      9 years, 2 months ago

The ideal situation is to field 11 in GW27 and have 2 FTs. That way you can have 5 DGW'ers in GW28 or 6 for only a hit.

      1. Dr Dream
        • 11 Years
        9 years, 2 months ago

That's my point though..some of those teams who field less than Xl in GW27 could well hold on transfers and end up with 7 or 8...and they will have the benefit of the Costa match against Burnley this week....What I'm saying is that getting Xl out in GW27 may well be less beneficial than we think if Chelsea get the DGW...al lot less...

        1. Les Bleus
          • 12 Years
          9 years, 2 months ago

That's true. But considering how QPR and Leicester are the other two teams with potential DGW, I wouldn't want any of their players bar Austin. So 6 is probably the max for me.

The best outcome for those planning well would actually be for the Chelsea game not to be played in GW28..

Plenty of teams already have 3 x Chelsea and 2 X Spurs that they will bench...add to that Rose/Vert (who have the easiest fixtures of all afterwards) and you are up to six keepers already...

I may well end up just playing 10 in GW27.

With the DGW being straight after the blank, any player is only going to get 2 fixtures across the two GW's except for the 1 (or 2) you bring on on FT inbetween the two weeks or any hits you take

I was thinking the same thing - I wouldn't be surprised if that becomes a popular move on here, especially if Bony is playing the main striker with Aguero behind

      Or doubling up...

If Bony is a regular, I may double up and go Aguero/Kane/Bony. No thoughts of ditching Aguero yet.

I have 2FT, 1m ITB and my WC but would like to make 5 transfers for this GW:

    Panti
    Terry, Hutton, Fonte
    Haz, Sanchez, Silva, Caz
    Giroud, Kane, Aguero

    Wisdom, Wasile, Lucas

    Wisdom > Haidara
    Wasile > Bruce
    Silva > Yaya
    Caz > Walters
    Giroud > Costa

If i use my WC for the above 5 transfers then for GW27 i can use one of my 2FT to swap Costa out for one week then bring him back GW28. Does this make sense:

No. It's painful not to have Costa for Burnley, but I'd avoid until week 28. Keep Terry/Haz/Kane, but avoid anyone else who blank or is not a sure starter for gw27. Save FT's and your WC, at least until gw28.

basically you cant use your wildcard if you have free transfers. you can check the button can not be clicked. thats why you'll never have 2 ft after a wildcard

Pochettino's pushed him up behind the striker recently although his stats are on the up, he seems to be used more to create the space to allow Eriksen to work. They did an interesting analysis on motd yhe other week. Might be worth a punt

Don't get Costa completely at the expense of the rest of your team. Eriksen is a far better option than Dembele.

    Need help!
Jones, Defoe and Aggy are slight injury concerns and Wisdom has been dropped.

    Pant (Krul)
Woll / PvA / Jones (Naylor / Wisdom)
Caz / Sanchez / Silva / Elia (Cork)
    Aggy / Sturridge / Defoe
