Injuries

The Treatment Table – Gameweek 26

We cast an eye over the new injuries sustained during the weekend’s ten fixtures this evening. Problems mount for Palace up front, Newcastle’s concerns continue, whilst United’s misfiring Dutchman is set for ankle scans after Saturday’s loss at Swansea.

Aston Villa
Kieran Richardson was forced off during the first half of Saturday’s home loss to Stoke due to injury.

Crystal Palace
Fraizer Campbell was withdrawn during the Eagles’ home loss to Arsenal after picking up a hamstring problem. Marouane Chamakh failed to feature against his former club due to a similar complaint.

Liverpool
Mamadou Sakho missed today’s clash with Southampton due to a hip problem, the Reds’ official twitter feed has confirmed.

Man United
The Red Devils are sweating over the fitness of Robin van Persie after the Dutchman left the Liberty Stadium on crutches after sustaining an ankle injury Saturday’s 2-1 defeat to Swansea. United are expected to know results of scans on the Dutchman by some point tomorrow.

Newcastle
Daryl Janmaat limped off with a groin problem during the Magpies’ 5-0 hammering at the Etihad on Saturday evening. Manager John Carver confirmed:

“He has got a tight groin. I don’t think he’s too serious at the moment, but it is tight and we took him off as a precaution.”

QPR
Niko Krancjar limped out of the R’s narrow loss at Hull on Saturday and was replaced by Armand Traore on 78 minutes.

Southampton
Steven Davis was replaced at the break during the Saints’ home encounter against Liverpool after picking up a knock.

Sunderland
Billy Jones missed the Black Cats’ goalless draw with West Brom due to injury.

Stoke
Erik Pieters was replaced with five minutes remaining of the weekend win at Villa due to injury.

West Ham
Carlton Cole was forced off due to injury during the Hammers’ draw at Spurs this afternoon.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Well if you consider 70% of the top 1000, i.e. 700 members of the band...

Oh it was. Top 1000 ownership went from around 30% to 65% the week he came back and he was overwhelmingly captained as well. Many hits were taken to get him in. Very similar to the early winter wildcards that were taken in numbers to get Aguero back for GW 22.

People always say that you have to track these high ownership moves or you can get hurt. But these are the same people that moan about how difficult it is to make serious ground inside the top 5k. Not surprising really - if you track all the high ownership moves "defensively" you are only left with a few lower scoring differentials at the margins of your team.

Differentials are as much a matter of which high-ownership, high value players you leave out as which players you bring in. When the top 5k are making bad decisions, that's the time when serious ground can be made on them. And you have to trust your own judgement as to when that is the case because you will never get any support for taking a contrary view on sites like this.

The leading players want everyone else to have teams the same as them. That's the best guarantee that they stay at the top.

The majority of people definitely planned to get him back as soon as possible when they got rid. Sanchez being labelled a bandwagon is laughable.

Most people independently decided that they would get Sanchez as soon as they saw he was on that teamsheet. Definitely not a bandwagon.

                9 years, 2 months ago

You assume you are making independent decisions but the evidence is otherwise. You have exactly the transfer profile I described - early wildcard in GW 22 to get Aguero back and captain him for 1 point, knee-jerk to get Sanchez and Defoe for a hit in GW 25.

I expect you wonder why your team is mouldering along between 15k and 20k. Decisions like that are the answer. Try thinking for yourself.

    Things are getting miserable.

    Krul, pants
Bellerin *, Clyne, Pva *, Wisdom *, Azpi
    ADM, Sanchez, Hazard, Boyd, Puncheon
    Kun, Kane, Giroud

    2ft, 0.7 itb.

Wisdom to Dawson now and ADM & PVA to Eriksen & Spurs defender for dgw? Won't get full starting 11 this week then..

Yep. I which case it's miles easier for them, I didn't realise they won 4-1 away. They'll be able to rest players so should be in good shape for Sunday.

Personally I think Everton have improved a lot defensively since Stones returned, even if this weekend was not their best showing.

I'm surprised no one thinks Spurs will make it.
They're playing just as well as Liverpool at the moment (evidenced by Theyre worthy defeat at an field)
Will be out of the Europa soon so won't have hangovers to worry about
Arsenal scraped past liecester and palace, they will slip up soon,
      United are dreadful,
And it was clear from southamptons game yesterday that they are running out of energy.
As well as that, Spurs have easiest fixtures left

Prefer Foster Lez Dawson to mcAuley. Unless of course you feel Pantz can keep on delivering.

Why are people using a precious transfer on PVA, have they not got bigger fish to fry? Can't have been expecting a big score from him gw27 anyway and one benched game doesn't mean he not first choice now

Even so I'd rather save a transfer and take a 1pter than use it to bring another rubbish defender in

Agree. Have 2FTs this GW but not wasting on PVA. Would rather do Defoe > Sakho...

      Not in my case.

Now you tell me, if I keep the FT and PVA continues to be benched, will I take him out later for a DGWer? Who, Rose, Schlupp? I don't think so. Better use it this GW imo.

Double Saints this GW only. Good or Bad?

Basically: Terry to Bertrand. This week. Bertrand to Rose/Vert. The next and Rose to Ivan a Gwir to later.

    go here: http://anewpla.net/fpl/

By average Defender PPG is about 3.8. Mids and Forwards about 5.

In other words I DO NOT take a hit to bring in a defender for PVA, even if I cannot field 11.

Makes sense. Take 1pt from PVA. Use transfer elsewhere.

normally 2 fts on defenders is a huge no. however that is needed to field 11 ill have to say yes, esp because i see kosc and dawson as good long term picks.

Least you know Walcott will get at least a point from a sub appearance imo. Better than zero. I'd say Wisdom as Dawson is playing well in his position
