Suspensions

The Suspension Tightrope – Gameweek 32

A couple of players failed to make it past yesterday’s deadline extension and resultantly toppled off the Suspension Tightrope in the weekend’s round of fixtures. Both Neil Taylor and Victor Wanyama earned their tenth caution of the campaign and are now set to miss the next two Gameweeks as a result of their indiscretions.

Bearing in mind that Kyle Naughton is already ruled out through injury for the rest of the season, Taylor’s challenge on Aaron Lennon during Swansea’s home draw with Everton means Garry Monk will be devoid of both his first-choice full-backs against Leicester and Newcastle.

Wanyama received yellow for pulling back Sone Aluko during Southampton’s home win over Hull, with the Kenyan now set to miss a trip to Stoke and home encounter with Tottenham.

The Suspension Tightrope has now been extended to 15 yellows, easing worries for a number of players. Cesc Fabregas owners can now breathe a sigh of relief after he avoid incurring the referee’s wrath during Chelsea clash with QPR yesterday, whilst team-mate Nemanja Matic, Villa’s Ciaran Clark, QPR skipper Joey Barton, Stoke’s Phil Bardsley and West Ham centre-half Winston Reid also remain on nine yellows.

Elsewhere, Carlos Sanchez earned a one-match ban after being dismissed during Villa’s vital away win at Spurs. The midfielder will sit out next weekend’s FA Cup semi-final against Liverpool and will therefore be available for the Gameweek 33 trip to City.

In terms of players still serving bans, Seb Larsson, Youssuf Mulumbu, David Meyler, Jonny Evans and Papiss Cisse all remain on the sidelines. Liverpool duo Martin Skrtel and Steven Gerrard, along with Newcastle’s Fabricio Coloccini, will all be available once this evening’s head-to-head at Anfield has passed.

    My plan:

    This week: Sanchez>Fabregas, Zouma>Skrtel [-4]
    Next week: Eriksen>Sterling
    Week after: Fabregas>Ramsey, Remy>Giroud [-4]

Works nicely. Hopefully no more injuries.

With Leicester playing Chelsea in the DGW I feel as though it's a single GW for them. Their defense worries me and after the DGW I wouldn't really want him on my team.

i see skrtel getting the double of schlupp points, and can be played in next weeks.. doing a hit to bring schlupp or skrtel, it's a easy decision..
you can field a team with skrtel, and you probably would bench schlupp this week anyway

    --------------Schmeichel-------------------
    Terry - Ivan - Clyne - Dawson - Rose
    ----Hazard - Boyd - Silva - Eriksen---
    ------------------Kane-----------------------

    Bench: Caz, Giroud, Austin, Panti

If I save my transfer and go with the team above for next GW, then I can do:

Eriksen and Austin ----> Sturridge and Cout for free.

That would give me Terry, Ivan, Hazard, Sturridge and Cout for DGW.

Good plan? Prob do Sturridge ----> Rooney the following week

      Louis Van Gaal's philosophy.

      1. Break the bank and make record signings by throwing as much money at players as possible.
      2. Bench those players and turn flop season around using players that were signed by David "Meltdown" Moyes.
      3. Take all the credit.
      4. Be regarded as a "tactical genius."

I doubt it...Moyes was unlikely to succeed before he began I suspect. Just the fact he wasn't Alex Ferguson was enough to ensure he wouldn't get a fair chance by the fans or the players even (maybe)....As soon as he hit a dodgy spell he was doomed. He does deserve credit for his signings though....

The bigger achievement is getting the best out of what you already have, rather than signing players - those would have been mainly signed by the Board whilst LVG was at the World Cup (overachieving with the Dutch squad).

And this has always been LVG's way - reinventing players such as Schweinsteiger and promoting homegrown talent (first Barca team comprising solely of homegrown players)

Lots of stuff from me, as usual. This time it's DGW strikers

Assuming he's fit Remy is nailed into one spot, and Kun into another

My last spot will be taken by a DGW striker, so my question is, can there be any justification for going N'Doye over Vardy for 3 GWs as I'll probably look to get Defoe for GW37

Vardy, bur, CHE, NEW, SOT (but plays Sunderland GW37)

N'Doye, cpl, LIV, ARS, BUR (plays Spurs GW37)

Am likely to get Cambiasso as a cheapie, but I'm not sure he taps well enough into what is currently the league's 2nd or 3rd best attack

Well, obviously wait until just before the DGW to decide on the third Chelsea then.

Costa nowhere near? Maybe get Remy
            Costa back? Get Costa?
Unsure? Get double defence or Cesc.

        I'm going 6 x DGWs for a hit

        Chelsea: Hazard, Remy, Ivanhoe
        Liverpool: Coutinho, Hendo, Skrtel

Hull & Leicester can bog right off....

If there are other options to get a DGW player its always a better week to take a hit.

      Myhill (Foster)

      Terry - Cresswell - Bertrand (Dawson, O'Shea)

Hazard - Silva - Eriksen - Mata (Moses)

      Kun - Kane - Remy

1 FT, .3m in the bank.

Looks like a simple Cresswell to Schlupp this week, yeah?

Wanted 3, but Sturridge seems a big risk with his injury problems.

And Coutinho and Sterling have been very inconsistent, scoring 4 and 6 goals in 32 matches. Might just go Hendo if he proves to continue his form. And perhaps Skrtel

        lost on last post....

bit of a dilemma here as i have a good setup for the double. currently i have this squad:

        haz-silva-coutinho-puncheon-sterling
        vardy-giroud-kun

simply wondering whether to go Kun, Giroud, Vardy up top and double Chelsea and Pool mids (and sell either Coutinho or Fabreags for Ramsey GW35) or get Ramsey and Remy and sell Remy for Giroud GW35

I tend to agree, he limited your attack so much yesterday as he has no pace anymore so he can't run in behind or into the channels like Costa or Remy

But would it still be safer to get Cesc for guaranteed minutes?

              • 12 Years

Yeah it would be safer if you're only looking for minutes, but if you want to take the risk for more points I would go Remy.

if Costa is ruled out of both games before the Arsenal game I'll likely get Remy, then just flog him for Giroud GW35

The issue could be if Jose says "Diego could be back for Leicester"

Even if he's back, he'll likely only play 60mins tops, means Remy on for 30mins vs tired Lester legs.

Total of 120mins for Remy in the DGW will do me....

Chances of Bartley starting next two gameweeks with Taylor and Naughton out?

Think it will have to be him or Amat. Do you have him already?

No. Guess wait til Friday see if Monk says anything. Moses going down this weekend I don't have a full team this week. Want Henderson for the DGW but need to move Eriksen & Moses same time. No money in the bank so I need a playing 3.9 defender to swap for Bruce this week. Hull's double don't look good at all now away at Palace and home to Liverpool.

Yeah not much at that price apart from McShane. Be worth noting the Leicester presser as well to see if he given any idea if Wasi may start as he came on at half-time this weekend and set up one of the goals.

No. He only has two decent fixtures and you probably won't play him after that.

Not for free if you're thinking about the doubles.

            If I didn't have Silva I wouldn't buy him.

            I've gone Fabregas.
