Suspensions

The Suspension Tightrope – Gameweek 32

A couple of players failed to make it past yesterday’s deadline extension and resultantly toppled off the Suspension Tightrope in the weekend’s round of fixtures. Both Neil Taylor and Victor Wanyama earned their tenth caution of the campaign and are now set to miss the next two Gameweeks as a result of their indiscretions.

Bearing in mind that Kyle Naughton is already ruled out through injury for the rest of the season, Taylor’s challenge on Aaron Lennon during Swansea’s home draw with Everton means Garry Monk will be devoid of both his first-choice full-backs against Leicester and Newcastle.

Wanyama received yellow for pulling back Sone Aluko during Southampton’s home win over Hull, with the Kenyan now set to miss a trip to Stoke and home encounter with Tottenham.

The Suspension Tightrope has now been extended to 15 yellows, easing worries for a number of players. Cesc Fabregas owners can now breathe a sigh of relief after he avoid incurring the referee’s wrath during Chelsea clash with QPR yesterday, whilst team-mate Nemanja Matic, Villa’s Ciaran Clark, QPR skipper Joey Barton, Stoke’s Phil Bardsley and West Ham centre-half Winston Reid also remain on nine yellows.

Elsewhere, Carlos Sanchez earned a one-match ban after being dismissed during Villa’s vital away win at Spurs. The midfielder will sit out next weekend’s FA Cup semi-final against Liverpool and will therefore be available for the Gameweek 33 trip to City.

In terms of players still serving bans, Seb Larsson, Youssuf Mulumbu, David Meyler, Jonny Evans and Papiss Cisse all remain on the sidelines. Liverpool duo Martin Skrtel and Steven Gerrard, along with Newcastle’s Fabricio Coloccini, will all be available once this evening’s head-to-head at Anfield has passed.

Different game - who do you fancy for tonight?

    Hendo or Coutinho? (Got Sterling)

Pens are. Nice added bonus, but most goals come from open play, and Coutinho far more likely to score from open play than Hendo from a pen. Even if he does, Coutinho could get the assist.

But yeah, pens are certainly a nice bonus.

Countinho doesn't exactly rack them up from open play. Hendo offers about as much threat in that regard, and then you add in the pens. Hendo comes out ahead.

Much better looking line-up compared to the derby, hopefully we can at least make a game of it tonight.

Thank god no Gouffran, Jonas or Sammy! Would much prefer to see Colback in the middle and Anita at FB mind.

        Who knows?

Gouffran arrived as an attacker who could play out wide and chip in with a few goals (which he did to start with) and we seem to have converted him to a general midfield player who doesn't get forward or defend, merely stands in the middle.

As heart-warming as Jonas' recovery is, it doesn't change the fact that he was about to be released before he was diagnosed because he hasn't improved whatsoever since we bought him years ago. He still can't pass, cross or shoot and has lost some pace so seems to have converted himself into a failed CM. No idea why he didn't play LB with Colback in the middle.

Jonas Gouffran Sissoko was the worst CM 3 I've ever seen for Newcastle, Sissoko didn't look interested one bit.

      Way I see it:
Remy - should be fit for next game, will play double IF Costa not back but Costa could replace.
Vardy - Obvious bet, but playing Burnley and Chelsea in double who play very tight defence. Not likely to score many if any imo
Marray - No double, but on great form and likely to score.
Costa - Will miss next game but could be back for the double. Will he be back and will his fitness allow him to play both games is the big Question.

What do we expect from Chelsea if they win the league with 4 games to spare? Do they remove their foot off the gas or play with no pressure and play with flair as early in the season? What would that mean for us fpl-wise? Would it still be worth it keeping their assets apart from Hazard? The only thing we do know is that Costa wouldn't play much football (not even 3 or 4 games).

      Mignolet
      Johnson - Can - Lovren - Moreno
      Lucas
      Henderson - Allen
      Coutinho - Sterling/Ibe - Ibe/Sterling

Plenty of freedom to bomb forward with Lucas and Allen sitting, Coutinho coming inside lets him overlap down the right and whip crosses in. Perfect set up for him to get attacking points.

well this is the thing, I mainly looked at it like this

            GW34, 3x DGW

GW35 - problem (most likely Tony away to Sun)

GW36 - bench Skrtel and Morgan

GW37 - bench Smalling and Terry

GW38 - bench Toby and PvA

Part of the reason for some friction and/or disagreement on this site at the moment is the issue of wildcard and no wildcard.

Some of the tactics that work if you have a wildcard will seem to be senseless if you don't. And some of the tactics that make sense if you are navigating through the DGWs without a wildcard will seem way over-cautious if you do have one.

Kane is a prime example. Without a wildcard I'd be very unlikely to remove him, I'd have more important things to do. With one it just works better without him.

It is almost 2 different games in actual fact. With entirely different strategies required. Might be worth remembering.

Well done , you proved me wrong. Or did you? Who knows. Maybe you found an exception to the example I used whilst ignoring what I was actually saying.

Haven't you learnt anything this season? Never bench Kane.

Thats the wonder of wc...give u options to take out players that u woukd not have taken out. thats why i m always reluctant to use it early like gw3...still remember some use it to rise value or avoid a 0.1 drop.

Last season..those with wc could feel a full team on blank week as well as 11dgw players..how much pts are earned there.

its almost always better to save it. depends on the team but i think its wiser to just take a couple hits early on and save it for the late dgw's. much more points available in those dgws.

baines and coleman worth a -4 for this week? i figure maybe spread out the chance for assists/baps.

would play 10 otherwise.. worth it or not?

      In that case yes,
      Prefer Baines or Coleman?

yeah his fame and new-found respect has led him to just go out drinking, partying and banging random women all the time. typical. no more dedication to his work.

So happy, main rival had Sturridge(c), Kane(vc) with Phillips 1st sub.

    Only 19pts back now.

What happened to Glass Legs Daniel?

      "Knock from Blackburn"

Or basically..been much better without him and just keep him fit for Wembley.
