Injuries

The Treatment Table – Gameweek 35

The injuries were kept to a relative minimum over the weekend’s action as we cast an eye over the latest batch of recruits to climb onto this Sunday’s Treatment Table.

Chelsea
Ramires was initially named in the Chelsea starting line-up to face Palace this afternoon but withdrew prior to kick-off due to illness. Jose Mourinho revealed post-match:

“Ramires went to the hospital. He was feeling so bad that we decided to take him out of the dressing room and take him to hospital. I’m going to visit him now. Maybe he’s not there anymore, but he was feeling really bad, really ill.”

Manchester City
Jesus Navas missed this afternoon’s trip to Tottenham with a tight hamstring, according to the local press. City’s problems on the flanks mounted after Samir Nasri lasted just three minutes as a substitute before suffering a recurrence of a groin problem.

Newcastle
Paul Dummett is an early doubt for the Magpies’ clash with West Brom after sustaining a hamstring problem during Saturday’s loss at Leicester.

QPR
Steven Caulker was subbed off at the break in the R’s loss at Liverpool due to a suspected broken hand.

Southampton
Sadio Mane was forced off during the Saints’ loss at Sunderland after failing to recover from a challenge from Lee Cattermole.

Swansea
Nelson Oliveira was replaced in the first-half of the Swans’ win over Stoke due to an ankle injury. Garry Monk conceded the forward – who has been playing with the problem for a fortnight – is set to be assessed:

“He’s had it for a couple of weeks that ankle injury. Under the challenge, it was a heavy challenge on him, he rolled his ankle and it was enough to come off. There was swelling, so it’s one of them that we’ll have to assess in 48 hours’ time. Hopefully the swelling goes down and he’s available for next week, but won’t really know until probably Tuesday.”

Sunderland
The Black Cats’ skipper John O’Shea was forced off with a rib injury and concussion in the 2-1 win over Southampton.

West Brom
James Morrison missed the Baggies’ win over United due to injury, according to post-match reports.

Surely you'd prefer to lose fabregas for a hit instead of hazard? I'd be amazed if Hazard doesn't beat fabregas by more than 4 points between now and the end of the season

      hulk this.

i think it's worth the risk selling him given Arsenal's DGW. Won't have that many GWs to benefit, but on the flipside, less damage can be done.

Depends on what your priorities are. Leading my MLs and can afford most players without selling him - so will probably keep.

ML's all sewn up, just playing for rank now.

Haz out (instead of Hendo) frees up more cash to maybe bring in Silva or Benteke.

Madness if you ask me. Haz may be coming off a bit earlier but he still has the potential to cause havoc, especially as Chelsea can now enjoy their football a bit more and risk a bit more going forward. They play Sunderland at home on the last day of the season, Sunderland WILL need to win that and Mourinho will demand nothing less but total professionalism and field his best 11.

I'm leading my ML but not by much. For the last few games of the season should I use my transfers to get in players that my main rival already has, thereby nullifying his potential gains, or just play my own game and try to extend my lead?

Try to copy your rival as much as possible, or even better try and pre-empt his moves. I'm in the same position myself - though we both WC'ed for GW34 so we've got very similar teams anyway...

I wonder what you all think of this question: now that Chelsea have locked it up, will Mourinho bench players like Hazard, Fabregas and Ivanovic and play more subs? Not much time left in the season obviously but as the original post asked here, is it time to off-load CFC players for those still fighting for something?

Q1: How important is Benteke right now? Got form and fixtures. Tempted by Kane to Benteke but would mean plenty of hits over next few to stack up on DGW players...

Benteke is a very tasty prospect, but many will be distracted by DGW players. I think him and Aguero will come close to the DGWers for points over the rest of the season.

If you have Giroud and Özil and Ramsey, how could that not be enough? You can't have more than 3 😀 Unless you mean if you don't get Giroud and just get Özil and Ramsey? I think Giroud will outscore Özil

So much depends on how many minutes Carver thinks De Jong is ready for. Wait for the presser.

With Newcastle's defense in dire shape, 2 starters from this week suspended and another injured, they can only ineptly try to go forward and hope to keep the WBA defense "busy"

            yeah. prob won't point chase.

But i did raise the points about WBA tightening up against the big sides when was discussing getting rid of them on WC. Brought in Schmeichel + Skrtel for Myhill and Dawson...so not too bad I guess.

I already own Dawson and playing him this week. Cue conceding after three benched blanks.

Decent shout. I'd prefer Vlaar with his GW38 fixture as well if needed

    Sky Sports players:

    Option A:

Today. Henderson -> Ozil Mon 11th Silva -> Siggy, Sun 17th Kane - Sanchez.

Would give me the following Capt:

Kane, Silva, Siggy, Kane, Sanchez, Sanchez, Final Day.

    Option B:

Today. Henderson -> Ramsey, Sun 17th, Kane -> Giroud

Would give me the following Capt:

Kane, Aguero, Kane, Giroud, Giroud, Final Day.

Fantasy Football Scout daily hot topic

    Who will be rotated?

Which players are most likely to be rotated for the final three games. Will Chelsea look to rest the likes of Eden Hazard or their defenders for a game?

Could this be a good time to take a punt on fringe players? If so which ones are likely to be the run in's surprise stars?

        1. Ivan is fighting for nothing. Chelsea want him to stay. It's only a matter of contract length.

        2. Eden is very tired, has played almost constantly for 2 years with a long World Cup campaign in the summer. The chance of him being given a week off is higher than most on here imagine.

Basically everyone at Chelsea could be rotated. Hazard has been calling for a rest for a few weeks now . It might happen but it's impossible to predict when it will happen . Unless Mourinho says he is going to rest players I am not going to worry about it

I don't think Chelsea will rotate (to the extent of dropping their senior first team players). They have games against LIV wba SUN which all have possible effects at both ends of the table

I won't be surprised if we play full strength vs Liverpool with Remy upfront instead of Drogba. Maybe Luis instead of Azpi.

Final game vs Sunderland is when I can see a few being rested.

I'm sure resting a few players doesn't harm our chances of winning the game.

Cech, Zouma, Luis, Mikel/Ramires, Oscar, Remy all capable.

errr...it's one of the most unsporting things you can possibly do and has been a massive issue in the past.

You play your full strength team out of respect to all the others in the league, especially in that last game if it could effect Sunderland/other teams survival

Mourinho could justify rotating his defenders but not dropping Hazard

He did in 2005 and 2006 and we have a perfectly good squad where we can rest 5-6 players and still not harm our chances of winning the game.

Where did I suggest Hazard will be rested? He'll start, along with Ivan. Remainder - all up in the air.

Maybe 1-2 youngsters involved v WBA, maybe 1-2 youngsters involved v Sunderland, a bit of rotation among the senior squad, full strength (or near it) v Liverpool. That will be about the strength of it.

Among the youngsters I think Ake and Loftus-Cheek are the ones Jose would most like to give starts to. Solanke will probably get an appearance off the bench.

Not much discussion of Arsenal rotation here. Is the thinking that this is less of an issue following City's win, since Arsenal won't have 2nd place tied up before gameweek 37?

Looking at the fixtures I think wba is the most likely candidate game for rotation. They will surely play full strength against Liverpool and against Sunderland in the final game of the season - to go out in style. However it's more or less impossible to predict unless Mourinho comes out and says who he is going to rest.

    Morning all,

Currently sat in 18 OR and looking for differentials to No.1. With this in mind, which of these routes would you go for?

    (A)
    GW36: Sterling -> Ozil
    GW37: Silva -> Sanchez

    (B)
    GW36: Sterling, Skrtel & Kane -> Kos, Ozil & Benteke (8 points)
    GW37: Schlupp -> Vergini

    (A) clearly looks way more sensible, but I have minimal differentials to No.1 right now, so feel like I need to do something drastic to have any chance (which I acknowledge is remote). (B) should give me these differentials plus an extra DGWer (triple SUN defence could be huge if it comes off), however it does cost me 8 points.

    Cheers!

    Schmeichel
    Terry, PVA, Schlupp
    Haz, Silva, Sterling, Cout
    Aguero, Giroud, Kane
