Scout Notes

Scout Notes – Gameweek 35 – Monday

Arsenal rack up a ninth win in ten Gameweeks with a commanding display at the KC Stadium. Alexis Sanchez nets twice and Aaron Ramsey chips in with a goal and assist, as Stephen Quinn heads home Hull’s consolation in the 3-1 defeat.

Sanchez at the double as Arsenal flourish

Alexis Sanchez stole the headlines with a brace at the KC Stadium as Arsenal staged a free-flowing, attacking masterclass to record a 3-1 victory over Hull City. The Chilean forward opened the scoring with a deflected free-kick, before latching onto Aaron Ramsey’s superb through ball and calmly rounding Steve Harper for the Gunners’ third of the evening.

Sanchez fourth brace of the campaign strengthens his case for inclusion as Fantasy managers eye up Arsenal coverage ahead of their double Gameweek 37. Those looking to draft in the 11.3-priced midfielder – who’s netted three goals in four league starts – may well consider making a straight swap with Eden Hazard to free up the substantial funds. Hazard’s consistency (attacking returns in 14 of previous 20 starts) is undeniable, yet Sanchez’ explosive capabilities have now seen him return double-figures on eight occasions ahead of his four fixtures in the final three Gameweeks.

Ramsey impressed once more in his sixth successive start since a full return from injury in Gameweek 29. The Wales international boosted his tally to three goals and four assists over that period and, priced at 8.7, has edged ahead of Mesut Ozil and Santi Cazorla in the race for our double Gameweek attentions.

Olivier Giroud drew a blank for the third match on the trot, having netted in six consecutive outings before Gameweek 32. The French marksman only mustered four shots in Arsenal’s last two fixtures, with none of these efforts forcing a save out of the opposition’s goalkeeper. Conversely, Sanchez has chalked up 10 shots (four on target) across the last two, perhaps rendering him the premier captaincy pick for Arsenal’s double – already, the Chilean has risen in price and has been snapped up by over 26,000 FPL managers since the weekend.

Arsene Wenger named an unchanged XI from that which played out a 0-0 stalemate against Chelsea last Gameweek. Danny Welbeck missed out with inflammation in his knee, but Wenger revealed before the encounter that he expects the former Manchester United frontman to be passed fit for their Swansea City clash next Monday.

Hull outclassed by buoyant Gunners

Steve Bruce also fielded an unchanged side as Hull fell to just their second home defeat in six. Stephen Quinn bagged his first goal of the campaign, while Ahmed Elmohamady notched his second assist in as many outings – the 12,600 Fantasy managers that drafted in the Egyptian on the eve of the Tigers’ double Gameweek will be hoping he can sustain that momentum when they host a Burnley outfit devoid of inspiration next weekend.

A subsequent trip to Tottenham Hotspur and home tie against Manchester United on the final day of the season present the Yorkshire club with a testing finish that doesn’t appear conducive to strong Fantasy returns. Nonetheless, the Tigers – who sit just one point behind 18th-placed Sunderland – will doubtless be fighting tooth and nail to avoid the drop, which, as evidenced by their recent results against Palace and Liverpool, could translate into results on the pitch.

Best way to get in Sanchez?

ATM - Fabregas -> Sanchez, Skrtel-> 4.3m or cheaper defender.

    Pantilimon Schmeichel
    Ivanovic Skrtel Schlupp PvA Vlaar
    Hazard Fabregas Coutinho Sterling Cambiasso
    Aguero Giroud Kane
    2FT 0.4m

To do that I would need to gain 2.4m somewhere in 2nd FT with Sterling out, Sanchez in. Unless I get in Ramsey in instead, but his injury concerns me.

I usually dont take 8 point hits but right now I like the look of sterling, coutinho and fabregas > ramsey, sanchez and larsson/gomez. Set up for dgw 37 with 6 dgw players, can save my ft for 37 and use 2 ft gw 38. Good plan ? Could get rid of ivanovic instead of coutinho ?

Taking a -8 this week due to price change and end up lacking 0.2. Ok with -8 so would like to make a move that would earn back. Doing fab kane->rams benteke...what move to do to fund?

    Mignolet myhill
    Alder bertrand ivan moreno yun
    Hazard fab sanchez sterling amoebi
    Kane vardy aguero

Trying to shore up after a dire GW. Looking to get in Ramsey + Benteke + Sancehz, the latter must wait till next week if not ditching Hazard I think.

    Looking at

    Sterling + Kane + Ivanovic -> Ramsey + Benteke + PvA - 4pts

which woud give the following team:

    Panti - Schmeichel

    Terry - Skrtel - Vlaar - PvA - Duff

    Hazard - Silva - Snachez - Ramsey - Cambiasso

    Aguero - Giroud - Benteke

Then next Gw, Silva -> Sanchez.

Is it worth it, or better go without Benteke?

I'd go without Benteke. But hey, I've been god awful in the last few weeks so I think my judgement is out of whack.

      1. Pompel

Probably the sensible thing to do - thing is I was hell bent on getting him and Ramsey last GW, but unfortunately £0.1 short then due to bad bad planning :-(. Haven't gotten over that yet - this weekend was mentally testing me. But those lost points are sunk, so going without him now makes other moves much easier. And who knows, maybe Kane can tap in a fluke goal at the end.

-4 is better I think. Spurs finished against City with Paulinho Soldado and Ade - rogues gallery for me. AV on the other hand are putting everything through Benteke and need to stay focussed on the league for now.

If Stones, I'd need to do it in one week because it's not got any slack for price changes. I could probably afford to stagger it if I went for Jenkinson...

Sorry to change my mind but this is a good point actually; looking at it, you could play Terry, Lescott & Clyne this week. Jenko over Stones could be worth the 4pt saving.

So you reckon Jenko in for Moreno this week and then Sterling to Ramsey next week?

Ah would it have to be that way around? Yeees, just about I think. Or the hit for Stones & Ramsey if you think Ramsey will do well this week - and he could.

Sorry, I'm faltering a bit here. I'm going to stick to my original answer all things considered. Might be worth it for Ramsey in early alone.

          Scratch that, go Jenkinson.

Everton have SUN(team fighting for relegation), West ham AWAY(Everton haven't been particularly strong defensively away from home), then TOT, which I can't see them keeping a clean sheet in either.

Looks good on paper but nahh.

Well, I've got Sanchez and just brought in Ozil. I plan to get Ramsey for one of Lennon/Coutinho. I'm going to be playing 5 mids mostly because I have Kane & Murray still up front. I might mix things up a bit and play Murray (v. Swans) in the final gameweek.

        Giroud, Welbeck, Theo, Sanchez, Akpom.

We don't really 'need' one, especially as Giroud very rarely gets injuries. His injury this season was his first real injury in his career.

I dont believe all of the 'Sky Sports pundit chat' that Giroud is not good enough. Put him in Chelseas team and they would still have won the league.

Ultimately it comes down to the lack of world class strikers available. I will be very surprised if we sign a Striker.

I don't think Arsenal will be targeting a world class striker because as you mention Giroud has been effective and Wenger is clearly a fan.

But I do fancy another big guy to be signed to ensure he can be rested and covered should be get hurt. I still see Sanchez Welbeck and Walcott being used almost exclusively as wingers.
Dzeko I think might be available on the cheap.

    3. Tex
      • 9 Years

I think Arsenal will go for defensive mid, a striker and maybe a goalie to be honest. They know they're short there at DM and cf and if fixed can genuinely win the title next season.

Who here is going without benteke? I wanted him last week, but stuck with remy, and think his output will drop significantly very soon.

don't see why it would drop significantly. He's had 10 goals in his last eight PL-games, y, of course he isn't gonna keep on with that run forever, but why would it drop significantly within the three gameweeks left? Have you foreseen an upcoming injury in your tarot-cards?

No, I just think Aston villa will take their foot off the gas.

Villa fan here and I've gone without him until this week. We're really gung ho at the minute and he is literally the centre of everything we do and if anything I can see him also adding assists in the coming weeks.
