FFS Paddy Power Cup XI Final Preview & Members Cup V Winner

This evening we preview the final of the Fantasy Football Scout Paddy Power Cup XI, plus reveal the winner of the Fantasy Football Members Cup V.

Waltzingmatildas was crowned the latest winner of our Members trophy, claiming a 75-61 victory over faux_C from Gameweek 37’s matches.

With both sides sharing so many assets, it was David Silva’s 9-point contribution and the 10-point return from Hector Bellerin that eventually saw Waltzingmatildas emerge victorious. She (Tanya Sharma) picks up a £200 Amazon voucher as her prize, while faux_C (Chris Doyle) claims a £100 voucher as his runners-up reward.

Chris has another opportunity to find glory, however, as his Gameweek 37 tally proved enough to see him progress to the final of the Paddy Power Cup XI. faux_C edged out HammersXI in our semi-final to move into Sunday’s final.

The big news is that Mark’s sensational run of form, propelling him to an overall rank of 64, has also earned him a place in Sunday’s showpiece to oppose Faux C. Mark’s impressive Gameweek 37 tally of 87 was enough to see off Hutton Dressed as Lahm in the semi-finals.

With a rank of 3825 faux_C goes into the tie as underdog but with markedly different squads, the tie is still hard to call. Our finalists have just three players in common – Jeffrey Schlupp, Sergio Aguero and Alexis Sanchez. Mark’s key differential looks set to be David Silva, while faux_C will be hoping for a haul from Christian Benteke and Olivier Giroud to give him the edge in the tie.

HammersXI and Hutton DressedAs Lahm will now go head-to-head in Sunday’s third place play-off.

If you’re looking for more information on the Scout Cup schedule and prizes available, click this link for a full rundown.

Congratulations to our winners and best of luck to Sunday’s finalists. Even Mark.

Real question- 5 points behind £££ mini league leader, I'm very nervous- everything look in order? (FT used already)

Differentials are: Myhill, Rose, Schlupp, Rambo and Lukaku (He still has 1FT and his differentials include Schmeichael, Kolarov, Vlaar, Bellerin, Giroud- who he will prob trans out)

        ___________Myhill___________
        Rose_______Terry______Schlupp
        Couty__Rambo_Silva___Sanchez
        Kun(c)_____Lukaku_______Vardy

        Subs: Panti, Hazard, PVA, Bruce

    Help is needed please

I'm trying to defend a 15pt gap over 3rd place in my main work ML (1st and 2nd gets the money)

    My team:
    Schmeichel - Krul
Ivanovic- Terry - Cresswell - Alderweireld - Ward
    Cazorla - Sanchez - Ozil - Albrighton - Cambiasso
    Kane - Agúero - Wickham

    3rd Place Team
    Pantilimon - Hamer
    Ivanovic - Hutton - Bellerin - Wilson - Schlupp
    Hendo - Coutinho - Hazard - Sanchez - Gomez
    Defoe - Aguero - Giroud

Can I afford to take out Cazorla & one other of Alderweireid/Cresswell/Kane/Wickham for - 4 or should I just do Cazorla > Silva to consolidate my lead

    Any ideas would be welcomed

Not sure I'd take a hit unless you see that he does. Arsenal Mid to Silva seems like a solid move to me.

    Panti / Davis
    Clyne / Azpi / Moreno / PvA / Dawson
Silva / Hazard / Ozil / Sanchez / Albright on
    Aguero / Kane / Giroud

    0.1m ITB. 2 FT.

Thinking Clyne and one of the keepers out for some players with better fixtures? Any other ideas?

    Me: Panty, Rose, Cazorla, Benteke
    Him: Schmeicel, Skrtel, Ozil, Austin

Which do you think is most wise? (We both own Hendo and Kane who I count as my weak players in my squad)

Gw 8 pivotal this year, those with Kun captain and Tadic to boot kicked on. Shame on me, read about Spurs high defensive line and diabolical defence marshalled by Kaboul and still didn't go for Aguero. Thought Spurs would manage!

QPR did a lot for him, he was in a special school with behavioural issues before they got hold of him. Liverpool stole him by offering him a lot of money, now someone bigger is doing the same to them. Hard luck

Jamie Carragher is a joke. Talk about myopia. Talk about hypocrisy.

    1) Sterling was at QPR at doing very well in the youth structure until Liverpool turned his head. Money changed hands. Did we see Carragher wringing his hands and demanding he win trophies for them before jumping ship to a supposedly bigger club then?

    2) Where was Carragher when Berahino's unhappiness - and mooted move to Liverpool - was discussed in January? When Vlaar is choosing to play the season out rather than commit to Villa? Why hasn't Carragher spoken out critically of them?

As if we don't know. What a knob.

And Brendan Rodgers at the start of the season on Southampton:

“Southampton didn’t have to sell. Maybe their objectives have changed. I believe they were looking to be a Champions League club, and they were on course for that, but they obviously decided on a change of plan. I don’t have any sympathy for their situation. It’s just the way football works, it has always been the same.

"Players will always want to compete at the highest level they can and therefore gravitate to the biggest clubs.”

Rodgers is a genuine tool though, you don't say that, though to be fair I thought the same, mainly because Koeman was a manager known for managing clubs on a budget, which at the time the Liebherr family seemed to be reeling in the costs of running the club, stabilising it and then being happy to keep it where it was. :/

Its just the way things seem to be, favouritism is rife in the media, and I don't mean it because Carragher is an ex-Red, each outlet, Newspaper, TV or otherwise has its own agenda, some are biased (think Marca to Real), my theory is that they'll say things like this about the fans of the biggest clubs because they make up the major percentage of the viewership.

It's still pretty irresponsible mate. At the end of the day we have a 20 year old who's at a crossroads in his career. He's lost out on a million quid by not signing a contract that would have tripled his salary in December, and now this irresponsible one eyed charlatan has laid into him and basically green lit an army of equally one eyed morons to hound him out of the club. He's a kid, FFS. Not cool.

Clearly his agent is a total knob too, I'm not excusing him. I just dont get how Carragher is escaping criticism for his ridiculous attack on Sterling.

I think its because its not just Carragher but the entire media, it was a shame but bound to happen because it was aired publicly, it happens every time, even though they don't know the gist of it all they're more than happy to lay into players, why? Because that's what earns them money unfortunately. :/ I genuinely feel sorry for him, not entirely excusing him of some blame though.

don't agree with any of this. sterling signed a contract, and if you do so, you're bound by it (i know i am in my crappy job). i find it weird that footballers care about 1 or 2 million (even) when they have loads and loads of millions. plus i don't think he's as good as people seem to think, not even close. i'd be rid

Right, but he's didnt sign a new contract. If he'd signed the 5 year contact in January and demanded a move, he'd be doing what Suarez did, and you might have a point. Instead, he rejected it and elected to run his contract down a bit.

He doesnt have loads and loads of millions. His current contract is about 1.5m a year gross, he turned down 4.5m a year six months ago. It's clearly not about money or he'd have signed the new contract and would still be angling for a move the following summer. Like Suarez did! Twice!

how would people say southampton would have done this year if nothing changed? i would have been surprised if they'd have done any better. all the players they sold bombed. not entirely sure it's rodgers fault

      1. Licky

I think quite the opposite, entirely Rodgers fault, how else could they play well at one club and not at the next, mismanagement. It's what I believe to be the real cause of most of our problems, from Rodgers, to the transfer committee to the PR department at times.

yeah ok regarding the southampton trio who've been poor, no argument. but, suarez and sturridge are not there anymore or haven't played,..... they'd no chance of being the same. a decent striker or 2,and they might have been fairly good this year, small margins.

I don't blame Sterling at all, Liverpool are a selling club and haven't won the league for 25 years. Carragher crying and slagging him off about holding such a great club to ransom was pathetic.

They nicked him off QPR for peanuts and then cry foul play when he decides to do one to further his career.
