New Season Memberships Now Available

Fantasy Football Scout memberships for 2015/16 are now available for the pre-season price of just £12.50.

Last season’s memberships expired back on Monday June 1 but you can now renew to get access to the members area.

Existing registered users can upgrade via this link. New users, who are yet to get a registered account, can sign up via this link.

Payments can be made through Paypal or via Stripe using debit or credit cards.

For the second season running, we’re very proud to have helped the Fantasy Premier League champion to the crown. This season’s winner, Simon March, aka “Dufflinks” was a full member of the site – as was Tom Fenley the season before. We hope that our members area goes on aiding FPL managers and will be hoping for a third champion from the 2015/16 season.

If you’re new to the benefits of Fantasy Football Scout membership, you can get full details, along with a series of movies previewing the content, via this page.

We’re hugely grateful for the support shown by our members each season. This has enabled us to maintain the site, grow our team and develop further.

We currently have a full responsive design in development which we are looking to roll out before the start of the new season, while we’re also currently working on the latest feature for members and a revised season ticker tool. Again, we’re looking to have both available prior to the new season and we’ll bring you more on those in the coming weeks.

If you’ve any feedback or suggestions of content that you’d like to see added to the members area, then please feel free to drop me a line at support@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

It's a poor rip-off of Millennium(ok they're fans and Lance Henriksen also did a cameo) but with a touch of The Silence of the Lambs.

Still watch it, though, it's not as bad as most series on TV nowadays.

        Hannibal Lecter. 😀

It's a very artistic show, amazing cinematography (which I'm sure you'd appreciate), and probably the best villain in any show I've seen. Mads Mikkelsen as Hannibal is absolutely amazing. A terrifying character, played with extreme subtlety. Season 1 was a very good show, season 2 was the best thing I've ever seen.

        I'd highly recommend it! 🙂

Its kind of cool knowing the characters from the films and seeing how they are portrayed in Hannibal. Mason Verger being one example. So hyped for season 3. Theres nothing else like it

Rough estimates for these players' FPL prices?

Foster, Clyne (Liverpool), Clyne (Manchester United), John Stones, Scott Dann, Terry, Ozil, Walcott, Milner (Liverpool), Costa, Hazard.

    Cheers.

      Foster (5m), Clyne (Liverpool- 6m), Clyne (Manchester United-6m), John Stones (5.5m), Scott Dann (5m), Terry (7m), Ozil (9m), Walcott (9.5), Milner (Liverpool- 6.5m), Costa- 11.5m, Hazard-12m.

Cheers Wilsh. I'm thinking of going with Foster Stones Terry Ozil/Theo with Hazard from the off. Costa at 11.5 would to be too much for me..until he scores a hatrick 😉

Foster wont be back by the start of the season I don't think.

Are you sure about Stones with Martinez in charge?

Terry is a bit pricey for the start of the season with very few baps, no?

Agree with the other 3! 😀

Read Martinez wants to sign Dann..could revert to the back 3?

I'm all up for Azpi but Terry's goal threat edges it for me, and he is 100% nailed on

Whatever Martinez does, and whoever he buys, I don't think I'd buy one of his defenders.

He backpacked off the Moyes effect in his first season, but has certainly Wigan-ised Everton now.

              Not for me thanks! 😀

I'd love for prices to be more difficult this year. The game became extremely easy to navigate with Kane, and thus extremely boring.

I want more people to have to take more punts on players, or more punts on not picking players!! 😀

part of me thinks that the Alves rumors have weight because LVG is just looking for a ready-made RB (even if older) so that his defense isn't too shaken up by youth/inexperience, given the adds we need at CB and CM?

I think schneiderlin will sign for man utd, and it'd be a very good signing

Gundogan is back on, would take either of them though. One has CL pedigree the other has PL pedigree.

And as you said, there aren't many RBs on the market. I think Rafael is out because he's simply too fragile and Valencia is not good enough to be a starter (anywhere on the pitch) but is a decent backup RB if necessary.

I'll almost certainly have Hendo, so I'm not sure I'd want to double up.

Good enough at 6.5 I suspect. Mind you I was never in any doubt that Hendo would end up as high as he did for the same price, and I never had him once...

I was always hesitant with Gerrard, Lambert and Balotelli lurking, but with Hendo now unrivalled for pen duties, I think he'll be the perfect consistent player. Hopefully will come in at around 8. 🙂

Does someone who publishes news quoting "sources" ever have to reveal those sources? Would it only be under legal proceedings?

Seems quite easy for anyone to say they have sources hence all the transfer BS that goes around this time of year.

    1. Wilshere Knowledge
      • 10 Years
      8 years, 11 months ago

"In the seminal case of Goodwin v. United Kingdom, the ECtHR ruled that an attempt to force a journalist to reveal his source for a news story violated his right to receive and impart information, and hence the right to freedom of expression. The ECtHR considered that orders to disclose sources reduce the flow of information, to the detriment of democracy and are, therefore, only justifiable in very exceptional cases"

      http://www.article19.org/pages/en/protection-of-sources-more.html

Certainly useful in terms of 'real journalism', but it comes with having to wade through a lot of nonsense. A journalists name is worth a lot nowadays.

Howedes is available for €12m. WOW.

Value for money at its best. Chelsea/Arsenal/United/Liverpool all need a RCB. Can't think of a better bargain.

    Howedes-Terry
    Howedes-Koscielny
    Howedes-Otamendi/Smalling
    Howedes-Sakho

Potential for different world class partnerships. Damn.

Howedes is far better than Mertesacker and when there's an opportunity to upgrade, you should upgrade in my opinion.

Terry still has one more season in him at least, his fitness has been top notch

Höwedes has a clause in his contract that means he could leave for €17.5 million before the end of June 2015. This figure would drop to €12.5 million in the summer transfer window of 2016.

Höwedes suffered a nasty ankle joint injury in a game against Paderborn in May and it's extremely unlikely that he'll be back in training when the Schalke squad reconvenes on 28 June.

Under these circumstances, I doubt that any club would put an offer in for Höwedes as his fitness would constitute a massive risk.

The clause would only stand if it was another German club though. It depends on what they're willing to negotiate for.

Clauses aren't applicable internationally, or in a lot of countries anyway, it could never be enforced. When was the last time you saw an English club 'activate' a buyout clause? Never, because English law prevents it from what I know.

            1. Portsmouth Bubblejet

Clauses are applicable internationally. For example, Rapid Vienna set a €2 million contractual escape clause on Marcel Sabitzer specifically for overseas clubs. German club Red Bull Leipzig then triggered it and bought the player against the wishes of Rapid Vienna. Rapid didn't want a fellow Austrian club to buy him, so there was no domestic release clause.

Red Bull as a corporation triggered the international release clause to get round this, and then Red Bull Leipzig simply 'loaned' Sabitzer back to Red Bull Salzburg in Austria.

In other words, it all depends what stands in the individual contract.

Oh, and examples of English clubs triggering overseas release clauses would include Chris Samba (Anzhi to QPR).

The contracts may have clauses but they aren't enforced in many countries, so for example England and any international clauses with another country cannot then be enforced. The contract may have it just to state what the club will sell at. What I'm saying is the clause can't be enforced and so usual negotiations will proceed.

The best explanation of release clauses, buy-out clauses, good faith & automatic release clauses has come from the sports lawyer Ian Lynam. It's all in the drafting of the individual contract.

                  http://www.theguardian.com/football/charles-russell-sports-law-blog/2014/jan/20/rooney-cabaye-buy-out-contracts-premeier-league

It depends on the law in the country, I just am positive that in the UK the law, how its worded, means it can't really be enforced, so their irrelevant for English clubs trying t activate them, it doesn't mean the player in question's club wouldn't accept the amount stated in such a clause as a regular bid though.

It would help if you could cite the UK legislation on this.

I've never seen a sports lawyer claim that release clauses don't apply to the UK and are 'irrelevant'. Yes, it's a grey area as to how enforceable release clauses are under EU law per se (see Geey above), but that's a different ball game from saying that England is exempt from them.

I've not much experience in it myself, It's what I've read in regards to a lot of transfers, the media will often state a buyout clause but its never actually used due to the enforcement issues, so most of the time people are told to forget about it. It's why its only really common in countries like Spain or Germany.

I genuinely can't think of a transfer where an English club has ignored an existing release clause and just negotiated as normal for an overseas player. If you're right, then this would have happened at least once.

Yes, release clauses might not be enforceable anywhere in the EU due to potential restraint of trade, but no-one has ever tested this legally.

Schalke intend the Höwedes release clause to be applicable to potential buyers in all countries, and the clause was set in the knowledge that the player's most likely destination would be the Premier League. I'm sure of that.

I'm not saying its ignored its just negotiated upon, because it isn't binding, i.e. the club who's player it is wouldn't be obligated to agree to it. If anything they're usually just a fair warning on the clubs value of a player and what it would take to prise him away.

As Geey says: 'If an automatic release amount is triggered, a club will be contractually bound to accept the amount offered.'

Bayern Munich have been very good at forcing Borussia Dortmund to sell players under these conditions. I don't see how the UK is exempt from this.

From what I've read its just he the law, I'm not sure, its just it can effect the players interests or something so its difficult to implement, its popular in Germany or Spain, but it isn't seen so much in the UK if at all, you'd have to see the contracts, but from what I know they just aren't binding so negotiations just take place as usual.

Could you at least say what it is that you've read that makes you draw this conclusion or give an example of any transfer negotiations that have proceeded like this?

Terms in a contract are legally binding. It's the legislation in the country in which the contract is drawn up that matters - overseas buying clubs need to adhere to this. See the Chris Samba transfer, this is exactly what happened.

That's what I'm saying! It isn't binding due to the UKs laws form what I've heard, there's a website called Liverpool Rumours (yeah I know rumours sounds bogey doesn't it?) when asked about buyout clauses they said it wasn't legally binding due to the laws so is difficult to enforce, hence why it isn't uses by English clubs. This was some months ago now.

Ahead of the Premier League clash at Everton, Van Gaal said: "I have picked the team that has won all the games the last few weeks.

"Wayne Rooney is better in a striker position in the team and Ander Herrera is in a better position a line further forward so that's why I have chosen them there."

Aye, I saw it. Rooney has a bit of a problem though...he just happens to be good in midfield as well. He's a better striker than a midfielder but he won't stop being mucked about until United have a couple of mids who are much better than him in that position.

They always do. The worst one is when they compare it to the damage done compared to booze and fags. Neither of which would be legalised if they weren't already.

But that's just a hypocrisy in itself. Why should the legality of one substance be utterly dependent on the legality of others?

And BTW, we've seen what has happened already by outlawing alcohol and it was an absolute disaster.

Legalizing medical marijuana has to happen. There's no good argument against imo. A good friend of mine had level 5 hodgkins lymphoma and weed was the only thing that helped him combat the effects of cemo. That he had to break the law to get that relief is pathetic

In these cases I do think the situation has to be improved. The worries about marijuana are long term but with a serious illness like this they go out the window a bit. Sorry to hear it, btw Champ.

As for "medicinal"...The argument for "medicinal" marijuana holds no water. The vast, vast, majority take marijuana to get off their face stoned on it....nothing to do whatsoever with "medicinal"....

I'd err on the side of caution there. A lot more research is needed on this, cannabinoids are a very diverse group of compounds. There is no doubt that they offer established benefits (pain killing, anti epileptic etc.) but they offer risks such as Schizophrenia development, depression and a host of other mental disease. Say what you will about prescription meds, but they've all been tried and tested extensively in proper settings.

A decent number of prescription drugs were tested for relief of particular problems (I'm talking mainly about anti depressants)...What nobody envisaged was doctors over prescribing them, some times for decades, and ending up adding to the problems of the person rather than helping.

Good point but when your starting point is an illegal substance the testing is greatly hindered.

Anti depressants are an interesting one because they actually aren't entirely clear on how they work. They know the different classes immediate effects but not necessarily what contributes. Some cases can even be caused by inflammation (ADs can be anti inflammatory). The second issues stems from the first, when the water is still muddy as to what drug is best for a certain patient it leads to over prescribing and regime changing, not good. But they are a rather special case, as are a number of brain influencing drugs, especially older drugs for the brain which could be quite crude. The majority of prescription drugs have their mechanisms known, while obviously cannabis has a lot left to be researched.

Yet for some of us the right anti depressant does exactly what was intended. Fixes the serotonin and norepinephrine imbalances in particular sensors in the brain that result in lives devastated if not treated

You can test cannabinoids, there are many of them which will be present in marijuana. A number of labs do such research, and work is ongoing. But it's difficult, cannabis has something like 85 different cannabinoids in it or something like that, all of which can have certain effects on the body. It's hard to estimate how different people may react to one type of cannabinoid, so how they will react to numerous ones makes medical marijuana a tough thing to push through without extensive research, unfortunately.

However, they have taken certain cannabinoids from cannabis and made synthetic drugs from them which provides the benefit of that specific cannabinoid, which is certainly useful. Still, much more to be done.

Yes they do...agreed...and i have known plenty of folk who it has helped, and needed to help. The problem becomes when, as above, the original diagnosis and problem becomes compounded by an addiction to the AD...I'm not sure the medical profession has got to grips with that yet. All too often it's much easier to carry on perscribing than treating the causes of the depression (I know that may not always be possible) .

Absolutely, but they don't actually know exactly how they fix the imbalances is what I mean. They are effective drugs when the right one is used for the right case but, as many people sadly have suffered through, changing drug regimes before they find one to suit their biology, and it still isn't entirely clear as to why. So another area (as with most brain meds) that remains under intense investigation.

I get what you're saying entirely Wakey, it is a very tough situation. With something like depression, especially serious depression, it is so hard to combat addiction as you cannot take the patient off the drugs either, they are not "cured" as the cause is biological. Others can be helped in time, and obviously they need to be treated very carefully to ensure no addiction crops up.

But then I believe there are many more things contributing to this, food, exercise, society, support, medication and on and on. Suffice it to say that not nearly enough is being done for many poor folk suffering from depression.

On the one hand I am all for personal liberty and I know a lot of people that smoke it occasionally no harm done.
I also know some people who can't control their addiction and a couple who have had serious mental illness brought on by it.
Still I think addiction is a health issue not a criminal one. Just because something can be bad doesn't mean it should be illegal.

No. Never got drunk. He always had his wits about him to take advantage of the influx of female attention that came his way.
I think the drunken Irish thing happened more so when he made it big in the States.

Once the players were tactically and technically efficient during the gayum you will be ok.

If you lose the dressing room go and crawl to your American masters on all fours claiming that deeetermination in the effective areas of the gayum will cover over the cracks.

Sign Borini, Allen and Alberto before your bosses cruelly expose your ineptitude in the transfer market by placing you at number 5 in an ill-conceived transfer committee of 4 members.

Rinse, cycle, repeat for 3 seasons.

Get sacked in your 4th season by Christmas. Good luck! 😀

I told myself after hearing the Brodge news that I wouldn't log in because this page would be high tide for hand-wringing, moaning LFC fans with no positivity in their hearts.

Is it truly out of the question that LFC could finish top 4
    - with a healthy Lallana
    - with no Mario for BR to insist upon starting
    - with old man Stevie no longer punching the clock at DM
    - with Can in midfield
    - with a healthy Sturridge
    ??

Is it? Is that beyond the realm of possibility?

I just can't see anything but upside this coming season. I know that makes me insufferably un-English, but I do not see any way but up.

And that's not to mention ANY players who come in
    ... nor Raheem the albatross G'ing T. F. O.
... nor deadweight assets like Glen "i was once good. At Portsmouth" Johnson, and hopefully Borini leaving

    1. Licky
      • 11 Years
      8 years, 11 months ago

You're pointing to the players there though, the fault is almost exclusively Rodger's. He doesn't deserve my faith anymore. Not to mention he'll freeze out Lucas and won't replace him and we won't get a top class striker, any chance we had of improving has evaporated in my honest opinion.

So consider the manager a known quantity. He's a constant. Look at the other variables. The variables I've named.
        Focus.

Now answer: is Top 4 less attainable, or more attainable?

        1. Licky
          • 11 Years
          8 years, 11 months ago

It's less attainable because of the constant. The squad was good enough for top four last year, should, with some additions be good enough this year, but won't. In three seasons he's brought us nowhere, all while demonstrating last season how tactically inept he is.

          1. Pepereina Pizza
            • 10 Years
            8 years, 11 months ago

So you're saying that BR, given more options and better players to choose from last season (Lallana, Sturridge) would have done worse?
            Because Brendan?

Let it go. You're kicking a dead horse, man. It's OK! Last season is over.

Are you going to spend your energy cheering FOR your team?
Or will you spend it finding new ways to be anti-your-team's-manager?

I'm not going to make a case for why BR is good. Even if you found a way to be reasoned with it, it's clear that grinding your axe is more important. It's OK, you need more time to grieve, I get it.

            Let me ask you:
What positives do you see coming for LFC ?

            1. Licky
              • 11 Years
              8 years, 11 months ago

Youth system and the new stadium are positives, the squad is also the basis for a quality team that should be achieving top four and beyond. I'm grinding my axe because Rodgers will prove to be inept again. The chances are he'll redeploy his possession football to no avail, will fail to fix the defense despite the money spent on it and the players brought in (if Pulis can achieve that at the likes of Stoke when they came up, Crystal Palace and the Brom then so should Rodgers, of course not as anti football though), he won't attract top players, and so the committee in all likelihood be unsuccessful in attaining a top class GK, DM and Striker (the main positions we need). With the squad as is despite my faith in it will be mismanaged and misutilised again, this is my biggest problem here, you're pointing to the players we have which Rodgers has already proved inept at using, he's frozen out players like Marko and Lucas, barely used Lallana, dropped Lovren yet still used Skrtel, played players like Ibe and Marko at wing back, Can at RB/RCB, Gerrard at DM, ad Sterling up top, never built a system to accommodate Lambert or Balo, and got tactically outdone in the CL and against managers like Pardew, Warnock, Bruce, Sparky and Sherwood in utterly disgusting and embarrassing performances. If you claim my distrust is misplaced in Rodgers then you're a fool, I'm sorry. I'll be supporting the players and the club, not the manager.

That Liverpool squad is weaker than the current top 4, not even close imo. Its comparable to the Spurs squad. Frankly the top 4 places are the incumbents to lose and it will be very hard to dislodge any of them.

By far most likely outcome is Spurs and Liverpool 5th and 6th again (in either order) regardless of manager next year.

Whether BR is taking the club in the medium / long term direction it needs to go to bridge that gap is a different question

I don't agree because of United, they need a lot of players brought in and may lose DDG, they're squad is patchy and average bar just a few. Our squad should have done so much better than them.

    2. goriuanx
      • 13 Years

Lallana isn't the difference between 6th and 4th, why do people overrate him so much? Our first XI is a state and he isn't even good enough to start.

BR mismanaged Mario. Mario is lethargic and what not but he's been thrown under the bus when Lovren and Lallana have played more and produced less. Balotelli got the winner vs Spurs, winner vs Besiktas and winning assist vs Palace in FA Cup. 3 winning performances isn't so bad for a player thrown under the bus.

I agree on Stevie. Wasted and destroyed in DM.
Emre in midfield definitely strengthens us.
Healthy Sturridge gets you 20 goals.

I just find your Lallana comment bizzare. He is mediocre, people are blinded by his hundreds of pointless twists and turns. He's good, but not 25m good or not top 4 good either.

      1. goriuanx
        • 13 Years

And the top 4 would've been achievable maybe if Sturridge was fit. The gap will widen this summer after Man U Arsenal City Chelsea will all sign quality first team players.

BR put in the foundations but is now destroying that too. Should have been binned 100%.

Lallana is underrated, and Mario should have never been signed. Your disdain for Lovren baffles me, I don't think any of the defense have or will have a proper chance to prove their worth because Rodgers has absolutely no clue what to do defensively.

        1. goriuanx
          • 13 Years
          8 years, 11 months ago

If you were given 25m to sign an attacking player last season, bearing in mind we lost the best number 9 in world football, I 100% guarantee you wouldn't have said Lallana.

Mario doesn't suit us and shouldn't have signed, I agree. But he's been the scapegoat all season. And to be fair, he doesn't want to show it, for whatever reason, but he does have talent.

I agree, BR can't coach a defensive. But Lovren was a crap signing. And is a crap player. There's a reason why Lyon binned him and played a CM at CB. And yet again, if you were given 20m to sign a CB, you wouldn't have signed Lovren either.

The point I'm getting at is that money is being wasted year in year out on players who are mediocre, rubbish or don't fit our playing style. We need more Emre Can's, Sakho's and Coutinho's and less of Lovren's, Lallana's and Balotelli's.

I wouldn't have signed Lallana and we paid too much yes, but he's an excellent player, wasn't needed but he gets so much unnecessary stick, the system effected so many players, he is just another victim of the Brodge's dismal tactics. Lovren is up in the air, I'd like to see the defense given a proper chance.

            1. goriuanx

We agree on a lot of things in general mate but you don't sign players who are not needed like you say, and Lallana was not needed. Had we not signed him, we still would have finished 6th. Had he played 38 games this season, we still would have finished 6th. When you spend 25million on an attacker, they have to be the difference between finishing from a lower place to a higher place.

On the contrary, Emre Can. 10m. Had he played 38 games in central midfield I'm sure we would have conceded fewer goals as he'd protect the defence better than Gerrard/Lucas, and we'd score more goals as his defensive work would put less importance on players like Coutinho to track but but instead free them up to attack even more. That's the difference of finishing from a lower place to a higher place.

All of our attackers bar, just, Couts did poorly this season, he's with us now and I think he's a very good player who'll be important for us so why trash him?

                  • 13 Years

Not trashing him, it's just a 25m sunk cost which could've been spent to improve our first team. He wouldn't make Chelsea's, City's, Arsenal's or United's first teams and if they're who we're trying to compete with, he shouldn't make ours.

He is an ok player, he would be a bench player at the aforementioned 4 clubs. Those clubs have bigger spending power than Liverpool, to an extent they can afford 25m bench players. We have wasted so much money that we can't afford to keep signing Lallana's.

I agree, still think he's better than you're giving him credit for though, regardless we need him now, this summer isn't shaping up well, more average players being brought in and Milner who we don't actually need (he'll have a massive sign on fee if he joins us).

He plays for us so I'll support him. There's bigger problems than Lallana anyway.

Yeah, not looking forward to this summer. I think Milner improves our first 11 to an extent. He is better than Lucas and Allen. But you're right, huge signing on fee and will be on big wages. Milner is a top professional and is a winner. I don't have much problem with signing him. Cool head, good guy, has quality but is a bit old.

Ings. We shouldn't even touch him with a pole. Clyne...I'd be ok with him for 15m max. We should start looking in Europe for players though, we seem to only sign PL players.

And as for the striker, I want Icardi. We'll have around 30m. Icardi Aubameyang Martinez are players we should be looking at.

Can't see Icardi happening :/ Clyne is average as well, and not a position that needs addressing with Wisdom/Flanno. I wouldn't touch Martinez either, age, cost, wages and the adjustment factor would be too much, it could be a disaster. Milner is a good player and would add something, but is he absolutely necessary?

I would give Manquillo/Wisdom/Flanagan a go at RB but Clyne is alright. I don't like the idea of Clyne and Moreno playing at the same time. We'd concede too many.

Icardi will probably end up at a Chelsea or something. Martinez is 28 so I see your point. Maybe Higuain? He is 27 and guarantees goals. Doubt he'd want to move to us though.

I think losing Gerrard means we almost had to sign an established player who is a figure in the dressing room. I like Milner personally. Milner-Can-Henderson is one hard working midfield.

The appeal of Clyne is that Wisdom is great at RCB. If I wanted to pile on BR about his poor judgment, letting West Brom take Wisdom on loan would be in the top 5 blunders.
I prefer Wisdom/Clyne as my options to Wisdom/Manquillo.

Not sold on Flanagan as a factor for 15/16. I like him but wow, he'll get injured again if he's not rotated. He's been through an awful lot.

                        Higuain would be massive.
Pedro (also 27) would be a good signing, IMO.
Ings I wouldn't mind, he seems decent and is young enough that his value may even increase if he doesn't settle.

Clyne is quality. I'm not convinced that is where money should be spent but more than happy to have him if thats the route Rodgers wants to take

                      Milner we actually WILL need.
He's Dirk Kuyt 2.0, gives his all, never gets injured, always fit. Can boss it in CM.
                      He's a snip even at 10m IMO.

                      Europa League + inevitable injuries.

Mario can't be managed. He can be motivated, but clearly does what he wants.

BR should have started Ricky Lambert when Mario started doing the petulant zombie thing on the pitch, wouldn't get back onside when the ball was given away, etc.

Gerrard had no business starting as many games as he did, (should have left last season)
        Joe Allen is dreadful.
How much for John Obi Mikel? (wish we'd have bought Alex Song)

Lallana sure did the trick in Southampton. Weekly. He deserves time to get his confidence back.

The superfan mentality is prevailing unfortunately. i.e. They think Rodgers is the right man for the job and to support him through thick and thin regardless of what damage he is doing. No hope of an Operation Valkyrie here I'm afraid, I guess they just don't see it.

4th is rightly the aim, as it will be for Spurs.

I doubt either will be good enough. And even if one of the top 4 slip what about the season after?

For Liverpool I think the more important thing is to have a 5 year plan to get back there regularly and to move in the right direction

      1. Get up ya bum
        • 14 Years

I agree. Was my same aim last season and was going as expected until that dreadful end to the campaign.
The biggest issue is the way the club is being run and I think we can not become regular title contenders with these owners as they are clearly not about to change their approach.

        1. goriuanx
          • 13 Years

Owners aren't interested in winning the title. They want to buy low, undervalued players, let them develop at the club then sell them for a high fee. They'll sell LFC once they get the right offer imo. I wouldn't mind a Sheikh or two!

5 year plans don't work in the modern day. 5 day plans barely work either, its turned into one crazy game.

The only stable club in the league are Arsenal. Wenger is a true great for me. He has sacrificed individual honours and success to build a stable club that will always be near the top

I must say what disgusts me most in all of this is that Klopp was available yet no approach or interest ever materialised, when a manager like that is available and with what Rodgers has done its a no brainer, you grab the opportunity with both hands and don't let go. Evidently not I guess. :/
