Premier League 2015/16 Fixtures Announced

The Premier League fixture list for 2015/16 was published this morning at 9am, allowing Fantasy managers an opportunity to start tentatively planning for the season ahead. Behind the scenes, we’ll be working on our fixture tickers throughout the day and aim to get these to you as soon as possible to offer a means of analysis of the opening six Gameweeks and, if you’re a member, the entire season.

Champions Chelsea open their campaign with a home encounter against Swansea before heading to the Etihad in Gameweek 2. Jose Mourinho’s men also square up to Arsenal in the opening six rounds of fixtures, and face trips to West Brom and Everton, in addition to a Stamford Bridge showdown with London neighbours Palace.

Man United take on three of last season’s top six in the first six rounds of fixtures. Louis van Gaal’s side welcome Tottenham and Liverpool to Old Trafford over that period and also pay visit to Southampton, with clashes against Villa, Newcastle and Swansea also on their agenda.

Man City hit the road three times in the first five. Manuel Pellegrini’s men roll up to West Brom, Everton and Palace, and welcome Watford, in addition to the above-mentioned home encounter with Chelsea.

Arsenal entertain West Ham, Liverpool and Stoke at the Emirates in the first six Gameweeks. Arsene Wenger’s men have a couple of London away days – at Palace and Chelsea – as well as a trip to Newcastle over that period.

Liverpool are handed four strong home clashes in the opening seven, as Bournemouth, West Ham, Norwich and Villa make their way to Anfield. Brendan Rodgers’ men have some testing times on the road, though, with visits to Stoke, Arsenal and United pencilled in over that time frame.

Leicester will be confident of continuing the form that clinched their survival last time out. Nigel Pearson’s troops face Sunderland, West Ham, Bournemouth, Villa and Stoke in the first six, with a Gameweek 3 trip to Tottenham looking the most problematic of their early matches.

West Ham begin life under new manager Slaven Bilic with an opening day trip to the Emirates. The Hammers also pay visit to Liverpool and City in the first six rounds of fixtures, though have four kind home clashes in the first seven (LEI, BOU, NEW, NOR) to bolster their appeal.

Crystal Palace are handed a tough start to the new campaign. Granted, the Eagles have Norwich and Villa in their opening three but aside from that, they go up against Arsenal, Chelsea, City and Spurs in the first six Gameweeks.

Over the next few days, we plan to focus on the new schedule in detail. In addition to a couple of “Frisking the Fixtures” articles, we’ll be rolling out a series of articles looking at the best rotation pairs available at the back over the upcoming campaign.

It's not gonna go anywhere. but it's tough. I'm trying to work on a hot topic/article on the best 3 way rotations but there's none that stand out, so I'm putting together the least worst

You mean they never intended to sign Kovacic and made no approach at all but the media hyped it up. 😉

No I mean derogatory bids followed by proper bids and then bids were we try to offload Balotelli to them, all the while Inter didn't really want to sell so it should have been wrapped up quick but wasn't. Hard to tell what issues were there during negotiations but Liverpool seem to do this all the time, a bit like Moreno or Salah and possibly Lallana.

Inter didn't want to sell? I think that answers what issues there were during negotiations.

It was more of a need to sell, rather than wanting, a deal could have been done, hard to say how they screwed it up.

Had to keep it fairly clean, so many options. Lallana can play in hole/wing depending on formation.

Think they'll go with that kind of set up?

I thought some folks were suggesting a 4-1-2-1-2 like:

      Clyne------Skrtel------Sakho/Lovren-----Moreno

      ------------------------Can-------------------------------

      -----------Milner---------------Hendo--------------

      -----------------------Couts-----------------------------

      ----------Ings/Lamb-------Sturridge-------------

I think that looks decent, though the wings would be an issue so the full backs need to be up to speed on that. (I've just chucked Clyne in for the sake of ease). Would let Lallana take over for Coutinho in the CAM though Markovic may be a bit stuffed...

Then again, BR likes to change it up, so possible that plenty of formations will be used.

I think it'll be a 4-3-3. In that system we'd leak goals something terrible as Can isn't a proper DM.

Odd, he was mostly DM for Leverkusen.

Aye, 4-3-3 is another one I was toying with chucking out.

            • 11 Years

He isn't a proper DM though, positionally he'd need to sit back a lot more and learn to read the game to be where he needs to be when he needs to be there, instead of running around like a headless chicken trying to break up play a la James McCarthy. He's a box to box player so shoehorning him in there would prove fruitless, DM is a specialist position after all. 😉

              8 years, 10 months ago

Hmmm, see I think if he was to be shoehorned in there he could learn and then Pool would have a a ball playing DM, which is really what the modern game wants. Might take a bit of adjustment, but he was decent for Leverkusen in that position!

It's more to do with coaching though rather than learning on the job, I can't see it happening for us as we clearly have no one who knows how to coach the defensive side of the game. :/

        My prediction:

Starters: Bogdan; Flanagan - Skrtel - Lovren - Moreno; Can - Milner - Hendo - Coutinho; Ings - Balo

Bench: Migs, Ilori, Ibe, Lambert, Lallana, Markovic, Origi

I've made the stupidest mistake ever.

My old Twitter account got hacked and followed an extra 800+ people. So I thought I'd just make a new account.

So, I made a new account and within a few days that one got hacked too! Really couldn't figure out how it's happened again.

Then I realised that I wanted to use the same email address - the same one that I use for everything. But I also used the same password. Talk about stupidity!

U21 team, picked using FFS player analysis post.

    Bardi/ Busk
    Kaderabek/Vestegaard/Ginter/Guerreiro/Petokic
    Prikyrl/Krejčí/Olsson/Christensen/Silva
    Belotti/ Kane/ Hofmann (c)

      4.5 4.0

      11.5 11.5 10.0 8.5 (striker?) 5.5

And substitution rules start off with... ''After all matches on a single day have finished and before the next matches start, you can: ...''

That should apply for captains as well.

Volland wasn't around with the U21 squad in some of those games, he's surely a better player...

Don't they play in different positions, Hoffman (Striker), Volland (Winger) ?.

    4. Prime

With that midfield and Volland being a more than capable striker I dropped Hofmann. Taking plenty of risks with my defence alone.

If Volland starts up front, I can't see Hofmann on the wing.

I think Volland will start wide indeed, that is his natural position, and Hofmann deserves to play, for getting them here in the first place.

        But you never know...

Sounds a little ominous. I still think it'll be Hofmann up front and Volland on the wing, at least to start the game.

If you were to break the season into chunks to look at rotation, what kind of sized chunks would you do?

Of course we like to look at big chunks and find the ultimate rotation pair but the truth is your WC's will massively alter your side. I am currently looking at a first 12 game rotation block as it get's me to an international break, then the next chunk can take me to the Jan WC and then finally home stretch.

Ideally, you should be looking until January, because ideally, you will keep your wildcard until then.

If worse comes to worse and you must wildcard before then, well then you can reassess the best rotations at that point in time until Jan.

Wouldn't touch any Swedish attacking mids with Arber Zeneli in the mix too. He is perhaps one of the ultimate flair picks in the game. The manager spoke highly of him after his late call-up.

    Hiljemark (CM) is the safest.

He had to talk highly of him cause any sober man would have picked another player on that spot.
It was a controversal pick to say the least. Zeneli got speed for sure but he is probably going to be a sub at best, if/when we are down.

Was just stating how it's far from safe to pick most of the Swedish mids, besides Hiljemark.

And yes, the group is obviously not the best. Likely whipping boys.

tbh I'm not in favour of rotating Panti

Sunderland are too unpredictable and he's too good value for save points

at some point you're bound to bench a double digit haul (probably for a 2 pointer)

Currently on Leicester/Norwich as rotation pair as it gives:

      SUN (H), SUN (A), STO (H), BOU (A), BOU (H), STO (A), WHM (A), LEI (H), NEW (A), WBA (H), WBA (A), WAT (H)

      or Bournemouth/Norwich:

      AST (H), SUN (A), STO (H), LEI (H), BOU (H), SUN (H), WHM (A), WAT (H), NEW (A), WBA (H), SOU (A), NEW (H)

Wowza!! Looking through the fixtures list for the first six games it appears that über cheap defenders and GK combinations may be the way to kick off the campaign.

German defender is essential? basically it's between

    A) Kaderabek/Sorensen (4.5/4.0) + Garbutt (5.0) + Leitner (7.0)
    B) Korb (4.5) + Petkovic (3.5) + Hojbjerg (8.5)
    C) Ginter (5.5) + a 3.0 player + Hojbjerg (8.5)

    (Have Meyer and Christensen)

    Giuseppe Marotta:

"I reiterate we don't want to sell Pogba and he has said today that he doesn't want to leave.

"Pogba is a player that has been requested by several clubs but we have not entered in any negotiation because we consider him strategic to our project.

Not sure. They made it to CL finals. Both Pogba and the club may now see this as a project worth building on, and Pogba in particular may not be so much seduced by a move just one year before his home EC.

To me, it looks impossible to bring it back without losing a good chunk of viewers.
They can try and play it the same way as with the 3 lads and just be a worse version of the old show.
If they change the style, they'll lose the people who just want a laugh. However I would prefer this as it be more natural

This is what everyone did last year (with Rooney and Costa, and normally an 8.5 along with them).

Everyone immediately regretted having such an imbalanced team.

Not really if it's Walcott and not Sanchez. Plan to field Rooney+Costa . Kun to come in after a couple of weeks.

    IF he stays, Benteke could start well. Apart from GW2, i quite like this;

    Bournemouth
    MAN U
    palace
    SUNDERLAND
    Leicester
    WBA

I'm also wanting hendo to come in at a relatively good price.

      Hendo will be 8-.5 IMO

Another budget differential priced out of making a difference.

A shout out to Saniul for amazing piece of articles on Euro U-21. Helped a lot, my only source was Wikipedia and set up an initial team and looks like I'll be changing my squad a lot.

    Good work, Saniul! 😀

    Apart from GW2??

Would include MUN as a potential for goals.

Maybe vs Utd too then. Hendo can't be more than 7.5 surely.

Question with the U21 game substitutions:

If I have Romagnoli in my starting 11, make some manager substitutions after today's games, and Romagnoli doesn't get any minutes in tomorrow's game. Then no auto substitution will happen and I've effectively lost out on a player. Right?

no auto-subs... put romagnoli on bench, and then tomorrow see if he will start.

Every time the berks at Sky Sports News read out people's Tweets it fills me with an incomprehensible rage.

Squad good to go? Any stupid oversights e.g. not realising Kadlec and Kalas were suspended in my earlier draft?

    Bardi/Busk
    Garbutt/Korb/Guerreiro/Scholz/Petkovic
    Redmond/Silva/Leitner/Hojbjerg/Prikryl
    Volland/Berahino/Berardi

Looks good, but check the Denmark XI in 2h, Hojbjerg isn't 100% fit.
