The ScoutCast – Episode 164 – Sheepish

Limping out of the blocks like three flabby Dads at their kids’ Sports Day, Granville, Jonty and myself are in a sheepish mood for the first ScoutCast of the season.

We do our upmost to rouse some enthusiasm for the events of Gameweek 1, buoyed by tales from you, the community and your latest round of finely honed questions, drilling down into the current big dilemmas.

Chelsea and Arsenal’s stuttering start, the strategy surrounding Aguero and Sanchez, plus the top targets ahead of Friday’s 6.45 deadline provide plenty to distract me from the fact that I’d been robbed of a David Silva goal just minutes before coming on air.

This ScoutCast was recorded on Monday evening and went out live via our YouTube channel. Be sure to subscribe to our channel to get updates on the next cast if you want to drop in live.

You can relieve the Google Hangout version, warts and all, via the larger movie player below. Or, if you’d prefer the low-fat edited audio version, you’ll need this link or the smaller player below.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Play Ritchie or Azpi?

Other defenders are Coates, Cedric and Kos. I have STaylor too but he doesn't count

I've just wildcarded. Is it a good or bad idea to pick Benteke and then take him out after GW2 for free with Aguero? Or should l just start Aguero?

Any ideas of a draft WC team?

      1. Theatre_Of_Screams

        Adrian (McCarthy)

        Williams Yoshida Gomez (Jenkinson, Oxford)

        Hazard Sanchez Silva Albrighton (Westwood)

        Aguero Gomis Deeney

0.5m ITB to change Adrian to Hart

It's not amazing but it's quite balanced and get some really big hitters.

Payet. Compare WHU and SWA midfielders. Ayew competes with Siggy, Montero and Shelvey. Payet's competition are all a class below him. Like Mark Noble.

well my reasoning is I think he will start and palace away is his ideal game.

I think there's maybe a 25% chance he won't start which is the risk component. Wenger said rotate and this is the perfect time to demonstrate he wasn't bullshitting.

Owning someone priced at 9.0 who you aren't sure will start is a big enough risk. Risking your captaincy on him is foolhardy to me. Of course it could pay off, but I don't think the risk surrounding that makes it worthwhile especially with several other players looking like good captaincy options this gameweek.

That doesn't make any sense at all. Some captaincy options are less risky than others. Walcott tops the list of the most risky.

The only reason I'm likely to keep is because he was always a 2/3 GW punt. The idea was to sell him to the best mid priced asset. The only problem is that right now I don't know who the best mid priced asset is. I'm prepared to give it another week and see what pops up. The 0.1 doesn't bother me at all. I'd rather make a sound decision.

He was never nailed on, not even slightly, Wenger said it himself weeks ago that Giroud and Walcott would be rotated, and after Walcott played most of the Chelsea match, it was always a possibility that Giroud would be played against a physical West Ham.

Now away from home against a very attacking and leaky Palace side with space to run in behind? I'm not hopeful of a high return on Koscielny but I definitely wouldn't be selling Walcott.

Sanchez is not back yet either, he was only thrown in as they were 2-0 down.

It makes no sense to sell him now if you own him, in my opinion. Just save it and lose him on a double switch next week. The group think on FFS surrounding Feo was astonishing. Objectively he was/is always not assured of starts but people pushed that aside at the expense of his explosiveness.

      1. Irish Madridista ⭐
        • 13 Years

Exactly, but it is some of the very same people that were quoting his explosiveness that are now ignoring that and running scared from a measly 0.1 drop in price. Tis madness.

Worry about getting in Aguero next week. We only have 1 gameweek to go on so far, a new budget option could easily appear.

Have rooney > aguero planned for GW3 but what if rooney scores v avl? would be silly to take him out before a juicy NEW fixture right? Just wonder if aguero can do more damage against eve...

In a bit of a sticky situation here:

So I have already done Sterling --> Ayew earlier in the week, leaving me with 2 mil to do Walcott--> Sanchez.

However now, with Walcott likely dropping, I won't be able to afford this..

Take the hit and do it now? Really want to keep Walcott for this week tho.

If you guys are so confident Walcott will fail, why not start up a bookies and undercut them all since they're giving relatively short odds for him to score.

    A) mahrez and defoe or a different 5.5 (play whoever has the better fixture and switch from 352 to 343 each week.

    B) 4.5 mid and sakho or a different 6.5 forward (have payet)

    C) mahrez and inghalo (play mahrez most of the time and bank an extra .5
