Dugout Discussion

The Dugout Discussion – Saturday

Having witnessed Everton school a bitterly disappointing Southampton in their own backyard, Saturday affords us another five matches to soak in this afternoon.

Swansea and West Ham look to build on their excellent away performances in Gameweek 1 as they play host to Newcastle and Leicester respectively.

The Swans are heavily fancied for this one – Garry Monk’s side fired 17 attempts at the Bridge last weekend, producing 12 efforts in the area and more shots on target (nine) than any side in the opening round of fixtures. With Newcastle conceding more headed attempts (five) than any side, we’ve opted for Bafetimbi Gomis in this week’s Scout Picks.

Although the Hammers were restricted to just eight efforts in their 2-0 win at Arsenal, they’ll be expecting to go on the offensive against the Foxes. Leicester conceded more big chances (45) than any away side in 2014/15 and ranked third worst for shots inside the box conceded (201).

Sunderland and Norwich go head-to-head at the Stadium of Light as both sides attempt to bounce back from opening day defeats. Looking at the stats, the hosts can expect to face plenty of long-range efforts – only six of Norwich’s 17 attempts against Palace last week were from inside the box.

Promoted Watford welcome West Brom to Vicarage Road, whilst Spurs entertain Stoke at the Lane after both suffered narrow 1-0 losses last time around. Somewhat surprisingly, the Potters afforded their opponents just 24 big chances away from home last year – joint-top for resilience with Chelsea. Mark Hughes’ men only conceded 23 goals in the road – again, mirroring Jose Mourinho’s men – suggesting they were a little unlucky only to manage just four clean sheets outside of the Britannia.

    Don't think I should WC yet, would anyone be tempted with these changes?

    Panti->Hart (for City's upcoming fixtures)
    Depay-> Payet (Would like to keep Depay but Payet has really impressed me)
    Ozil-> Sterling (again Citys fixtures)
    Mane->Chadli (looks kneejerk but Spurs have okay fixtures)
    Vardy->Gomis (Looks a great pick, I went without because of Chelsea first game, definitely my biggest regret!!)

    Alternative is WC GW4 and just do Ozil->Payet and Vardy->Gomis for a -4

      Wildcard after gw4
      Better to stick with your wildcard for now, Ozil + Vardy --> Payet + Gomis looks good

            Indeed! They still will be 🙂 I thought there was value in some cheaper mids and felt more confidence in them than the lines of Deeney and Wilson so I thought I'd splash on some strikers with 20 go potential and work out as quickly as poss where to go.

            Saved FT last week too so they are for free

    Hi guys,

    Doest Koscielny + Rooney --> Shaw + Aguero (-4) look like a good move to you?

    Can't do the Aguero part straight away, and United have Newcastle and Swansea ahead.
    Also tempted by Gomis but don't think he's worth dropping Pelle or Sakho for right?

    So who IS nailed on in West Brom D? I have Lescott, but it seems like all of them are rotation risks. Get in Dawson?

    Planned to wildcard week 4 so went expensive in goals with Courtois and Adrian to maximise points over 3 weeks. Well that backfired! Played Courtois last week with Adrian on 11 points and played Adrian this week. Might just pick two teams third choice keeper on wildcard that way my keepers wont lose me points!

      Check FISO crack the code which is the most "sensitive" about price changes. Rooney should not be in trouble unless there is a massive outflow today.

    Why would people WC now? Just 2 GW passed and both are low scoring.Still the transfer window is open. 1 good GW will improve the ranking a way better since the past GW are of low scoring.
    You cant expect Mahrez, Ayew, Gomis to deliver whole season. Sit tight for few more GW before WC

          beacause it's only the beginning of the season, a lot of player are not yet fit, the transfer window is still open, and take a look at the previous season, it's not because a player is good on one or two matches that he's going to be a season regular (remember Berahino or Ulloa last year)
