Injuries

The Treatment Table – Gameweek 2

Once again, there was a minimal amount of new injuries over the weekend’s matches for Fantasy managers to fret over, with Jose Mourinho and Mauricio Pochettino playing down concerns after withdrawing Harry Kane and John Terry respectively. Steve McClaren is a manager with worries, however, with injuries in midfield, while his first choice right-back will miss their Gameweek 3 trip to Old Trafford through suspension.

Chelsea
Jose Mourinho denied John Terry picked up an injury in today’s loss at City after being subbed off at the break. Perhaps tellingly, this was the first time in Terry’s career under Mourinho that he had been replaced mid-match, with the Blues boss explaining:

“No [he was not injured], it was a decision I made. I know that Zouma is the fastest in the squad, and in that moment Manchester City were playing on the counter attack. Zouma is different than John, and my decision was proved right as Zouma was in complete control. I left him out because tactically we needed to make a change, and I was proven right as we controlled the game in the second half.”

Mourinho also stated post-match than Oscar, who missed the Etihad trip, remains a doubt for the Gameweek 3 trip to West Brom…

“Oscar’s injury isn’t a big one but it stops him from playing today and probably next week”

Leicester City
Back-up stopper Mark Schwarzer missed yesterday’s win at West Ham due to illness, the club’s official twitter feed confirmed.

Newcastle
Steve McClaren has concerns in midfield for the trip to United after Moussa Sissoko was withdrawn at the break against Swansea due to a groin problem. The Magpies boss also explained Siem de Jong’s weekend absence:

“We lost a big player in Moussa. We don’t know the seriousness of it yet…We think it (De Jong injury) is just a kick on the shin which flared up. He nearly made it (in time) but unfortunately didn’t (but) it should not be too bad.”

Sissoko has since tweeted on his injury, confirming an adductor problem.

Tottenham
Mauricio Pochettino played down his second-half withdrawal of Harry Kane in yesterday’s draw with Stoke. The Spurs boss confirmed Kane’s problem was no more than cramp, having started training a little late due to his Euro U21 exertions with England:

“Harry was very tired and had some cramps in his calf, so to take the risk with the score at 2-0, I didn’t think it was a problem to take him off. He came later in pre-season and it is normal. He is better but he needs time to arrive. We knew before the end of last season Harry Kane would play a lot and the consequences you can see now. This is the truth, at 2-0, after 65 minutes, I think it was enough for him. We don’t take risks with his body”.

Swansea
Garry Monk remains optimistic that Ki Sung-Yeung will return to action for next week’s trip to Sunderland. The Swans boss refused to take any chances with the South Korean at home to Newcastle, after he was forced off with a hamstring injury away to Chelsea last week:

“It wasn’t really [right] to take the risk with him. Of course he’s pushing to play, but I think we’ll give him that little bit more time. He’ll be back in training next week ready for the Sunderland game.”

Suspensions

Newcastle are set to be without Daryl Janmaat for the trip to United after the right-back received his marching order for picking up two yellow cards away to Swansea. Discussing his upcoming absence, the Dutchman – who was booked on both occasions for incidents involving Jefferson Montero – owned up to his Liberty folly:

“I’m very disappointed. It was stupid of me and I have to apologise to my team-mates, the supporters and everybody, because trying to win a game with ten men is very difficult. The first yellow card was clear. The second one, I lost the ball, he (Montero) ran past me and in a split-second I touched him. I pulled him back and that was stupid.”

West Ham are set to be without Adrian for the next three league matches after the Spaniard’s weekend dismissal at home to Leicester. Dismissed for serious foul play after an incident with Jamie Vardy, the Hammers keeper will miss clashes against Bournemouth, Liverpool and Newcastle before returning to action in Gameweek 6 away to Man City. Darren Randolph (4.5) is set to deputise in his absence.

The way I'm looking at it now is:
      Does Team Value matter?

I have 3 or 4 likely to drop this week and a few players I'd like in now are rising.

I'm not letting TV decide my transfers for me... I'm certainly not prepared to take hits to catch rises/avoid drops, that's for sure

Coates, Walcott and Rooney the only ones I'd be worried about. You could still WC to catch some price rises and fit Aguero in nicely. Either way you're fine.

I would have, but had 2FTs in the bank and 3 definite transfers to make and another 2 KIV. Doesn't make much sense to WC, keeping for now!

Chelsea looks weak first two games. Hazard and fab not firing, defence surprisingly poor nowadays. But could be a wounded animal walking, may punish WBA next week.

Should I be concerned about no City cover next GW or should I sacrifice another -4 to at least bring Kompany in for azpi?

My Aguero plan is for GW4 onwards for Rooney after his customary Newcastle game.

So was it more beneficial given how the season started, to have made a new team and start from GW2?

I do like Mane but he's probably getting cut due to price constraints - he's one I'm most worried about losing on wildcard.

Diouf is someone I thought was being overlooked but seems not.

Dilemma. I currently have a team with Aguero and Sanchez, but somehow I feel like I should wildcard because players like Hazard, Wilson, Sinclair, Coates, Huth and Mertesacker can/will drop this gameweek. My midfield and attack is good (bar Sinclair/Wilson), but I don't like my Azpi/Merte/Huth/Coates/Targett defense with Stekelenburg as a GK.

Should I WC or should I just do a FT?

Do we think McCarthy will keep his spot upon Speroni's return?

Considering taking the -4 to replace Hennessey. I'll want to do it eventually anyway, may as well catch the price rise.

But it hardly seems worth it if Speroni will retake his spot.

Haven't seen a single WC draft with Aguero, Sanchez and Hazard.

Mahrez looks outstanding value as a fourth mid, and none of the other forwards above 7m are crying out for selection. Seems like the most obvious advantage of the wildcard at this stage to me...

It's surprisingly easy to afford with Mahrez (who, statistically, has been the stand out player over the two gameweeks, and still has good fixtures):

        4.5 - 4.0
        6.0 - 5.0 - 4.5 - 4.5 - 4.5
        Hazard - Sanchez - 8.0 - 5.5 - 4.5
        Aguero - 7.0 - 6.5

Seems a pretty good basic structure to me, as an example.

if i was WC'ing i'd have all 3 of those and make do elsewhere. plenty of value to be had, especially with a cheap defence

Exactly. The key to FPL to me is find the best value picks so that you can afford the most important big hitters. Chelsea, Arsenal and City are by far the best attacking teams in the league, and Hazard, Sanchez and Aguero are their stand out players - you're covered for captaincy for the season between those.

WC now, jump on the cheap bandwagons to build some TV, get the big hitters in before their price rises, and then you can spend your transfers on any better value picks when they emerge.

What do people think about Kolarov's chances of being a regular starter?

His partnership with Sterling has looked very good the last two games. Surely Pelle won't drop him?

Or is he too much of a rotation risk at 5.5m for a defender?

Same here. He looks really good and the new BPS system seems to greatly benefit him.

        Gomis Aguero Pelle

It would seem to me that at the moment you could make up a team of cheap to mid priced players and do very well with Aguero, Silva and Kompany the only expensive assets firing.

    Repost

Need to find 1.0-1.5 to do Rooney to Aguero next week.

    Which downgrade is better?

    A) Ozil ----> Ayew (No Swans coverage)
    B) Hazard ---->Silva (No City coverage)
    C) Koscienly/Azpi ----> 4.5

If it was you, would u WC or not to WC??? hope its not too much

    ruddy(y)
    mertz cedric huth francis oxford
    sanchez ayew sterling mane westwood
    rooney benteke gomis

    1. Already took a hit. (team ubove is with 2 tranfers done already)
    2. Have exactly 2.5m itb to do rooney to augero but he will rise tomorrow if not today.

    Not necessary, but can:
    3. sterling to silva
    4. Get mahrez before another rise
    5. Change at least 3 of my backline
    6. Get a keeper with possible cs instead of norwish keepers...

Right, I've used my 2FTs but I still think I need to WC... yes?

    Mcarthy Hennessey
    Ivanovic Mert Cedric Gomez Coates
    Cesc Sterling Mane Ayew
    Aguero Benteke Sakho

Currently ranked 2.7million, at least a WC would help me catch prise rises over the next few weeks to help aid a comeback

Should I do Hazard>Silva/Yaya or should I use my FT (and maybe a -4) to fix dropping players like Wilson, Sinclair, Coates..?

    1. Fanta sea
      • 8 Years
      8 years, 8 months ago

with that many players that could drop, you'd need more than a -4. You have 4 hours to decide whether you want to use that WC or not
