The ScoutCast – Episode 165 – Wildboys

Tempted into dealing our Wildcards by yet another “mediocre” Gameweek, Granville and I go through almost the entire episode before Jonty reveals he’s weakened and gone “active”. It’s a revelation that almost has us both logging off and reaching for our own panic buttons.

Before that dramatic finale, we find salvation via another bout of “rough the smooth”, cheering ourselves with tales of Gameweek totals which dip below even our miserable tallies.

We also take a further round of community questions, forcing me to “fess up” on Theo Walcott, while Granville laments Wayne Rooney’s form and the three of us tackle the merits of Mahrez, Ozil and loading up on City assets.

This episode was originally broadcast live on Monday using Google Hangouts via our YouTube channel. Be sure to subscribe to our channel to get notifications of future live episodes.

After I posted it realised my backline would have too much money tied up in it, so thought better of it.

Currently on Kolarov, Darmian, Skrtel, Francis and a 4.5 defender of which I can't decide on.
Thinking Skrtel to Williams and getting Gomez instead

On WC, 0.5m short of this...

    Butland, Schmeichel
    Kolarov, Darmain, Williams, Targett, Francis
    Silva, Sanchez, Payet, Mahrez, Chadli
    Aguero, Gomis, Wilson

    Any suggestions?

Could do Schmeichel > McCarthy but nervous of this when i'm aware I already have Targett and Kolarov who are not guaranteed to remain nailed on.

        Cheers,

Wilson is at 5.4 now so would need to downgrade to a 4.9 which makes pickings even slimmer. (although actually if Francis drops by 0.1 tonight I could sell and rebuy to boost funds by 0.1.)

Gomis > Diouf a possible but again worried about how nailed he will remain.

Is it better to go with Shaw instead of Darmian to avoid risking him getting sent off against Montero next week ? On a WC.

It isn't, and I currently have Darmian, but if both are equally nailed , it is something I could avoid.
Should I go for Kolarov instead ?
Rest of the defence is Azpilicueta, Williams Ward Huth, so I can probably handle Kolarov's rotation.

Well you should decide if you want to go with a city or united defender then. I really like the look of City atm and would even make the case for 3 MID/FWD players for them.

FPL aside (god forbid!), I think Shaw has started very well this season, looked good in pre-season too. Expect attacking returns to come soon.

And yes, he won't have to face Montero and suffer from the inevitable season long trauma following it 😉

With the dearth of forward options I'm surprised nobody isn't looking at a 3-5-2 and rotating Deeney and Wilson. This allows you to get all the big guns in other positions. Thoughts?

      BENZEMA UPDATE!

      Here come the Benzema questions!

Wenger is asked about the difficulties of a transfer window that is not shut until a few weeks into the season, which naturally leads into a discussion on his late summer targets.

“When the season starts the window should be finished.

“Simple as that. It is too big an advantage for clubs that didn’t work well during the transfer window.

“The funds are there, people know that you have the resources, but the players are not available.

“We expect, like you, but at the moment, we are not close.”

Wait, that last line.... "we expect", does that mean that they expect Benzema at Arsenal? That they're not (yet) close to signing him is secondary, if this is a confirmation that Arsenal is bidding for Benzema.

The bigger question is Yoshida or Soares at rb. Surely Cedric *he says hopefully

Interesting. Was considering Cedric > Yosh to save some cash but may just avoid them both.

I see a guy earlier asking the best place for stats and all said join here.
Well I challenge anyone who does not have a credit card (ME) to get the paltry sum from South African shores.
I have asked Jonty for bank details so I can pay directly as my debit card does not work on this site.
    I have to:
Prove I cannot get goods or service from an SA source.
Proof of address (Rates and taxes bill)
An air ticket showing I am going abroad.
Get Revenue Service and SA Reserve bank approval.
    Once again HELP!

Simple. Get a credit card, or use someone's you know and give them cash.

I wish it was that simple. Credit cards are evil and the Reserve bank audits all transactions.
Believe me, we are in a Zouma police state here.

Is living in SA as stressful and dangerous as our media makes out?

Dangerous in certain areas and burglaries are rife no matter what security you have.
Drugs a major problem and hitting black population.
Unions and the labour act killing employment.
            Mines suffering.
Government owned companies rotten to the core.
            Taxes can't meet the fiscus.
            Insurrection on the cards!

I love SA but its hard to be optimistic.

On wildcard and wondering about hazard.
I see very few wildcard teams with him in.
Surely it would be better to have him in my team and downgrade him if he still doesn't perform rather than go without .
If he does hit form and I don't have him it will be very hard to get him back in again.
    What do you think guys.

Not too big. He's one of the top 2/3 players in the league.

I think Sanchez coming back so quickly has made people act and get Hazard out. Also the form of Yaya & Silva at City.

I'm weighing up 5.0 defenders. Why is Williams the go-to guy instead of say Dawson from WBA? Whoever I pick I'm going to want to play almost every week.

If Stones does go to Chelsea (big if) there was talk of Williams going to Everton. Williams, a bap magnet, is nailed on so I'd stick with him for the time being

On a wildcard. Need suggestions for a 10m or so striker. Have Kolorov in defence so can switch him out for a cheaper option (darmian and daniels in there as well).

Kane my current selection alongside Aguero.

Any thoughts? Wary of Lukaku and Gomis.

Liverpool's attacking threat has been less than exemplary, though, and against Arsenal I think they'll always be on the back foot.

    Christian Eriksen,

Yea he is boring, the stretch of time in which he was in there in my team last season was totally frustrating for a 8.5m.

But, with this season revised BPS system which seemingly is supporting creative midfielders of which Eriksen has benefited himself and with a good run of fixtures coming up and the Dane being at the heart of most of Spurs' attacking play, he looks primed for return.

So, keeping any hindsight bias (if any) aside, is anyone considering him for the next 4-5 fixtures or perhaps for an even longer term ?

ifff Aguero gets injured then i can upgrade Mahrez and he'll be there in a heartbeat. Or if I switch to 352. But as it stands I cant get a 4th power mid alongside Hazard/Silva/Depay
