The ScoutCast – Episode 166 – Patsy

It’s Jonty’s time to curry sympathy this week and he’s on the receiving end of a barrage of cyber-bullying from co-host Granville.

Determined to the belittle Jonty’s Wildcard performance following Callum Wilson’s hat-trick, Granville takes to Twitter before roasting him live on air on the ScoutCast. He seems to have totally missed the fact that I too sold on Wilson as part of my own Wildcard; I’m quite happy for Jonty to play Patsy on this one.

Jonty rolls with the virtual punches to join us as we look back on the Gameweek that saw all three of us refresh our squads. We score our Wildcards out of ten, before scanning the community for Gameweek tales in “Rough with the Smooth”.

We then take on your questions, as we assess Pedro’s pedigree, the lure of Aleks Kolarov and the merits of a well-rounded squad in the light of the FPL chips.

This ScoutCast was first broadcast live via our YouTube channel on Tuesday. Be sure to subscribe to our channel for news of upcoming live Casts. You can view the broadcast in full via the larger player below but, if you prefer the edited audio version, you’ll need this link or the smaller player.

Whoops, posted it in an old article! Last RMT guys! Pretty close to something good I think! On a WC:

    Butland / McCarthy
    Kolarov / Gomez / Dawson / Francis / Targett
    Silva / Sanchez / Ozil / Chadli / Milner
    Aguero / Wilson / Jerome

Got 0.6m ITB. So I'm potentially 0.4m away from Ozil to Pedro,

Any ideas? Any other changes? Not sold on Butland / Francis as well.

    Would appreciate feedback.

    Cheers!

I'm not sure he can continue his form personally. I'd rather have Chadli - feel he's become very consistent. Fixtures are pretty okay too. Plus, a quick / easy swap with Shaqiri if he seems to bed in well.

      1. WHY ALWAYS MESUT?

Jerome is just a bench guy. I'll be playing a 3-5-2. See above for Chadli?

And also, why not Milner? Top 6 team, great fixtures, attacking potential shown in preseason / last season. Plus on some set pieces etc as well.

Milner isn't explosive enough, yes he will get you a few points consistently but your better off getting the inform 7m mids and get their massive hauls.

Never really played consistently at City. Let's see.

Not sure if you saw my response earlier, but two things I was going to say was to consider Richards over Francis because WBA and Villa rotate very well and to free up Ozil > Pedro funds you could try something like Milner > Ritchie, Mahrez, Gradel. I think the latter could be a pretty exciting off the radar pick with those fixtures, but the Bournemouth double up is a bit risky.

Thanks! I think I missed it. That's a very good idea!

Also thinking Butland to Myhill. Allows me to replace Dawson/Francis with two rotating 4.5's. Any ideas?

Could have one 4.6 also (and it allows Ozil to Pedro).

that seems very nice and it allows you to continue with your Milner pick.

Would consider getting a keeper that isn't a transfer waiting to happen though. Sticking with Butland seems a good choice + those rotating 4.5s. No West Brom defense but I don't think that should be a priority given they still haven't fully found their way this season.

For entry level DSLR you can't go far wrong with the Nikon range, easy to use with extra filters/fun nodes and settings but then you can use it manually for more advanced techniques. It all for depends on your budget, set that, allowing for the lenses you may or may not want and then see what new models you can get with the price.

Thanks Danno, will bookmark them now.

One of the reasons I wanted to look at one is I saw some amazing views but the phone just doesn't do them justice so might have to look into lenses.

Yep, can't compare and with a bit of boosting in photoshop even better. Even entry level DSLR are a different class and then adding a walk around lens, you are good to go.

So say I'm on the 10th floor of a hotel and the view is large distance. Would a 18-55mm lense pick that kind of thing up or do I need a different one?

The phone just picked up far too much of the foreground and you can barely see anything in the distance

                • 9 Years
                8 years, 8 months ago

I'm not sure what you mean. Do you want to zoom into some detail in the distance or take a wide angle shot. An 18-55mm is your standard kit lens and is not a zoom. But a great sized lens to start playing and learning I.e depth of field, shutter speeds etc etc

I'm very amateur, but for most people like me the standard lens will be enOugh for nice landscape/view shots. But if you want to be able to take really high quality shots and zoom into a landscape etc, you can buy a new lens. One of my friends has a few options, including one that's great for close up portrait shots (ideal for weddings for example). Not cheap mind...

I actually recommend taking a course. Really helps with things like understanding how much foreground to have in a shot, what to focus on etc. Or there might be some decent tutorials on YouTube etc.

I'm another one on the entry level Nikon. It's great- easy to use but you can get advanced if you like/can. My better half went on a course and she's doing all sorts with it now.

Por favor. Who would you start as your 3 defenders? My choices are *, but please tell me if you think differently. I think I am largely torn b/w Koscielny (@ Newcastle) and A. Wiliams (home to Man Utd). Thanks.

    A) Kolarov *
    B) Gomez *
    C) Williams *
    D) Koscielny
    E) Francis

Not sure i agree. Looked a bit dodgy at the start, but moved upfield and made a case to start there more often, granted the opposition were pretty dire.
