Costa has looked abysmal since i brought him in.

Costa out for Benteke for a -4?

  2. Your Fantasy football weakness?

Answering a question above got me thinking - what is your fantasy football weakness?

I'll start - I don't think I give unknowns a fair chance. I tend to opt for the name I know above the name I don't know so much.

i.e. example above Wilson or Vardy? I chose Vardy easily - thinking about it, I think it's because Wilson is the unknown to me.

I like to take risks in an attempt to get on bandwagons before they begin. But when it fails, it fails miserably.

It used to be jumping on too many bandwagons - anything that started up on here I'd get involved with. That's stopped a little although I was on Walcott this season and Remy towards the end of last 🙂

I'm the opposite, I tend to avoid bandwagons too often, usually at my peril.

      Ignoring gut instincts.

Currently, I would really like Ayew in my team because he is going to be a very effective OOP. Although I want him in - and know that it is the right decision - I am making excuses to myself to keep him out e.g. I have Gomis and four other mids that are more important.

Although I'm exploring playing 352, my heart is ruling my head when it comes to Ayew..and I know I will pay for it.

I'm sure I'm not the only player who sometimes gets these thoughts.

Usually I have set couple of rules to my FPL season, and seems to stick by the rules eventhough it killing my rank. That my weakness.

For example this season, no hits and no Liverpool players (God know how much I'm tempted to bring in Gomez in GW2).

Great question. I don't watch enough games meaning I have to rely on news report, highlights, stats and 2nd hand evidence. Watching Mahrez last season set me up to start with him this season but I miss other opportunities.

I'm far too stubborn. My opinions are like quick-drying cement, and I'm not as open as I should be to changing the plan when it is clearly not working.
I refused to jump on the Yaya bandwagon a few years ago, and it really cost me. I took too long to get into the Mahrez train this year.

I have Shaw and he was going to be first on the bench - but even with a FT what's your rationale for keeping him a week? We could save the FT but it's pretty much been allocated for him anyway, so why wait?

      1. Bubz
        • 10 Years
        8 years, 7 months ago

The only reason to get rid of Shaw this week is if his price is going to fall. I have a decent defence so dont need to bring in a defender this week. Would rather wait til next week for a clearer picture of which defender to bring in for him.

Say the def you're bringing in at the weekend, who you might not start (because def already decent) get injured......I'm probably saving so I have another week to decide and week for things to be clearer.

        I think that makes sense.

Also can afford a 0.1m drop without impact.

We've got two relatively easy fixtures at home in the next two. I think Brendo might stick with him as it wouldn't do much for his confidence being dropped. Moreno is pretty dodgy too...

Fabianski or McCartney in goals this week? Swansea are strong at home but Everton are looking good at the moment - Palace are playing Spurs who haven't looked that dangerous going forward...?

      - Swansea playing better as a unit.
      - Ayew more threatening as a goalscorer
      - Ayew has other providers in the team

With everyone looking for defenders to replace Shaw, Huth or whoever, no mention of Chelsea players - due to their abysmal form obviously. But just look at their fixtures after Arsenal match. If they show signs of getting back into their stride tonight, I will surely be tempted to get Azpi back. Seems most of the resilient defenses so far, other than MCI, do have tricky upcoming fixtures. Anyone else taking the chance on a Chelsea defender (never thought I'd say that 😀 !)

I want to wait and see first - they're shipping a ridiculous amount of goals for a team that's supposed to be good for defensive returns.

I like the look of Swansea and Liverpool for the short term.

That's unlucky with Shaw over Darmian Andy (see my earlier post on Shaw) ,
He was the better pick imo but as you say it may be in your favour as I don't think United are as solid as we like to think they are.

It's not the worst to have to get rid now but shame I won't have anyone for the Sunderland game.

More gutted for United and England, and of course Shaw himself.

Williams should be high on the list, probably a safer pick short term. Already have Gomez personally, but even Liverpool should be able to get a couple of cleanies.

Wait and see until next week is of course sensible. But I have a FT burning in my pocket to finally get rid of the Mings headache, and not completely sold on Dawson who's being touted around here, due to fixtures. Alternatively, what are your thouights on Cresswell vs. Williams , Doos?

With Mings out and doubt on Gomez, I'd like to do the transfer this GW. But if Mings doesn't drop, worst case is Huth comes in. Then I can use 2 FT next GW.

Well I'm another who needs to transfer Shaw, but a lot of the potential ins have a tough weekend game. Currently have this.

    Butland - Mccarthy
    Kolarov - Williams - Shaw - Targett - Souare

Play 3 of the other 4 and wait for better fixtures next week? Or make the change to Dawson/ Creswell/ Nyom?

Ok, so I do need help regarding my defense and the 5th midfielder.
Defense-- Darmian Kolarov Richards Muniesa Ogbonna(5.0)*
Mid-- Sanchez Sterling Mahrez Payet Anya(4.5)*
    ITB--1.7m

So the dilemma is whether to go for the safer option and sort out Ogbonna (CS are easier to predict, imo) or to ship out Anya for a palace mid?
    A. Ogbonna-> Dawson (pulis defense)
    B. Ogbonna-> Evans (budget reasons, to get Bolasie next week)
    C. Anya-> Sako (not nailed on :/ )
    D. Anya-> Bolasie and Ogbonna-> Evans (for a hit, 0.1 ITB)
    E. Save transfer!

Please give a short reason for your choice.

    Thanks in advance!

    Whatcha reckon lads?

    A) Shaw -> Kolarov (and delay WC)
    B) Shaw -> Skrtel (and WC for GW8)

Squad is in ok shape but I'll want rid of Coates and Targett soon and 0 CHE will bite at some point.

Edging towards A with a plan to load up on CHE with freebies in GW8/9...

    Ruddy
    Bellerin, Targett
    Sanchez, Silva, Mane, Mahrez, Sinclair
    Aguero, Benteke, Wilson

    Rudd, Huth, Coates, Shaw
    Bank 0.5m, 1FT
