The ScoutCast – Episode 170 – Bingo

Forget two fat ladies, in ScoutCast Bingo it’s all about three men with paunches chatting Fantasy Football fortunes, rattling out a few familiar clichés along the way.

Thanks to Numb’s witty community contribution, this week’s episode finds us gripping our dabbers in preparation for mispronunciations, dropped connections and a regular helping of “blimeys”.

Around those fun and games, we tackle the serious matters – assessing the merits of Sergio Aguero, Callum Wilson’s replacements and my range of Christmas jumpers.

All those hard-hitting issues are addressed via another round of community questions, following on from our review of Gameweek 7 as Granville fights the urge to gloat having opened up a 40 point lead over yours truly.

This episode of the ScoutCast was broadcast live on our YouTube channel on Wednesday evening. You can view the full Google Hangout on the larger player below.

How many are finally wrestling Aguero off the Captaincy this week?

Fail after fail after fail... patience is wearing thin. Thinking of growing bigger balls and taking a punt on the following, thoughts::

    A) De Bruyne
    B) Payet
    C) Vardy
    D) Martial

    Morning guys!

Been so busy recently I've hardly been around and am clueless as to what's happening this week. Last day in my current job today though so that's a plus! 🙂

Any big news over the last couple of days? I know Wilson is out, still haven't decided on a replacement and probably lost lots of £££ at this point!

        Still?

I'm very tempted by a Newcastle striker but I know that might be a punt too far

Like I said below, I've gone vards but with Pardew saying Gayle will play I think he's a great gamble for his and the next few weeks.

Not secure spot for sure but a good differential for a week or so.

      Not for the 'dullard' though.

My team is potentially in a spot of bother - Ogbonna, Muniesa, Wilson, McCarthy and Myhill so only want to get in players that are going to play at this stage.

Good luck for anyone going Gayle though!

    Myhill, McCarthy
    Kolarov, Darmian, Williams, Evans, Gomez
    Sanchez, Silva, Ayew, Mahrez, Westwood
    Aguero, Gomis, Vardy

    1FT, 2.1 in bank

    A) Gomis -> Martial / Pelle
    B) Silva -> De Bruyne
    C) Ayew -> Payet

I'm giving serious thought to actually keeping Wilson this gw as I just don't fancy any of the replacements around that price. I could take another drop and then have 2 transfers next gw, to get someone like Pelle in by downgrading someone else.

Anyone else ever keep injured players like this?

    1. HellasLEAF
      • 14 Years

I waited and watched prices go up and down contemplating the same thing.

I then decided it was worth the hit to upgrade Wilson to someone I wanted (Martial) and downgraded Yaya to Drinks.

I have gone vardy, however with pardews press conference pretty much saying Gayle will be playing I would have punted on him (and saved a hit). Good fixture this week and onwards, and capable of braces and hat tricks.

Is still a punt for sure but a good one I'd say. Also great differential.

It's an idea but I'm not sure who I'd want to downgrade next week - Aguero, Sanchez, KDB - likely I'll want them all so I'll probably just make a move this week

My best was another Wally hattrick 3 seasons ago. He was just returning from injury with just 1.5 ownership , got him with -4 and captained while everyone else was going for RVP, RVP subbed, Wally grabbed 52 points for me and pushed me into top 1000. It was like a dream 🙂 He is my favorite FPL player since that day 🙂

I'm on a wildcard and considering losing Francis. It feels like I am only keeping him because he is so popular around here, but Bournemouth have poor fixtures coming soon, and they don't look like keeping many clean sheets.

I can afford a 4.8mil replacement. Any suggestions? Or just keep him for assist potential off the bench?

        Nice options.
I should have mentioned my defence is currently:

        Myhill, Gomes,
        Dawson, Moreno, Francis, Davies, Soare.

Truth be told, I was considering a Watford 4.5 just because they seem a little more resilient. Need to check some stats...

            Myhill, Gomes,
            Francis, Dawson, Souare, Davies, Moreno,
Payet, Mahrez, De bruyne, Sanches, Hoolahan,
            Aguero, Pelle, Lukaku

Fair bit of money pumped up front, but I prefer to invest in forwards until a certain defences start to make a real case for themselves. For instance, this season the logic would have been to buy Chelsea defenders to begin with, but they have been poor. Then City started to make a case for their defence but have looked weak at the back without Kompany and Hart.

    3. Eze Really?

      1 Nyom Francis Evans
      2 Ighalo Vardy Murray

No Gabriel for 3 weeks at least.

I am really tempted by Murray too. I think he will deform start for Bournemouth and has a decent finish on him. It's all about the service tbh

He is no youngster and a year on may have an effect in a less attacking team but his stats last year were remarkable.

    Start:
    A) Ruddy
    B) Hennessey

    1) Cedric
    2) Huth

Hennessey and a coin-flip to be honest, Cedric has more attacking potential since neither are going to get a CS (Leicester best chance of that but they're leaking goals).

This is probably me spurs bias talking but i really think this is lamela's season. With teams double (even triple) marking kane it gives lamela much more time on the ball. The kid has talent and a potential steal at 6.8

Plus with Kane still struggling a bit in front of goal, he's a much cheaper route into the Spurs attack. My only issue is his tendency to pick up silly bookings.

When is the Man City's presser? anyone?

Read somewhere that Kompany will be out for the WE also.
That's becoming quite annoying, since he's the most expensive DF I've bet on.

Only encouragement is that City didn't keep any CS during his absence.

What are Kompany owners thinking? Ship or patience?

It has been more or less confirmed that he will be out this weekend. And maybe even during the international break. I have an opportunity to sell him for a profit and I might just do that.
Too expensive defender to not be available to play.

After much tinkering, this is where I have landed with my wildcard team. Would appreciate any final suggestions before it's set in stone.

    Begovic (Hennessy)
    Kolarov, Monreal (Evans, Davies, Hangeland)
    Alexis, Mata, Payet, Mahrez (Drinkwater)
    Kun, Sturridge, Vardy
    0.0 in the bank

    Are Hangeland and Davies nailed?

Plan is to do Sturridge/Payet to Sakho/Hazard IF Hazard shows some form in the next game. If Sturridge scores or assists against Everton, his stock should rise over the international break. Have struggled with this over the past week, and alomost pulled the Hazard/Sakho trigger but missed Sakho's price rise and saw this as a divine intervention...

Thx for the Davies heads-up. Who would be a better option?

I really want to play Redmond against Leicester this week, but don't know if anyone of my other front 7 is droppable --> Payet, Ayew, Sanchez, Mahrez, Gomis, Martial, Aguero
