Paddy Says – Gameweek 12

Paddy Power’s odds arrive in time to present another variable to consider, as we scan the bookies reckoning to help us predict where the goals will and won’t be scored in the Gameweek.

Before we shift to look at Paddy’s Anytime Scorer and Clean Sheet rankings, lets check in on their range of offers for new accounts over the weekend.

This week’s Acca offers a huge 28/1 on victories for Southampton (at Sunderland), Man United (vs West Brom), Leicester (vs Watford) and Chelsea (at Stoke). This also comes packaged with the possibility of £300 in free bets should you bet £10 weekly.

Paddy are also offering a single on a United win over the Baggies, with odds of 4/1 on show (regular odds 1/3), while Paddy’s second Saturday market presents 8/1 on a Jamie Vardy goal in a Leicester win over Watford.

Finally, the Sunday treble dangles odds of 14/1 on wins for Man City (at Villa), Liverpool (vs Palace) and Arsenal (vs Spurs).

Wilfried Bony and Jamie Vardy top the goalscorer ranks, as both are handed odds of 1.83 for an anytime strike in the Gameweek.

Bony notched more attempts (nine) than any forward last weekend, as City ran out 2-1 winners over Norwich. The Ivorian now faces a promising trip to Aston Villa, who are yet to keep a home clean sheet having conceded 7 goals thus far.

Meanwhile, Vardy could notch for the ninth consecutive start when Leicester City welcome Watford to the King Power Stadium.

The Foxes are in imperious attacking form, having registered 68 efforts on goal over the past four Gameweeks, more than any other Premier League side. Watford’s own form is strong – Quique Flores’ side have shipped just six goals in five away trips – but, having put three past West Brom last weekend, Leicester and Vardy have to be fancied to maintain their goalscoring run.

Four players rank next – tied on odds of 1.90. Two of them, Olivier Giroud and Alexis Sanchez, head into Sunday’s north London derby in contrasting form.

Giroud has claimed goals in each of his last three appearances, while Sanchez has blanked in his last two. No team fashioned more big chances (14) or shots inside the box (48) than the Gunners over the last four Gameweeks, which bodes well for the duo’s attacking prospects. In addition, with Paddy fancying Spurs to score in Sunday’s clash, it seems likely that Arsene Wenger’s side will have to find more than one goal to run out winners.

Southampton’s Graziano Pelle and Man United’s Anthony Martial complete the quintet of players sitting at the 1.90 mark.

The Saints’ leading man will fancy his chances against a Sunderland defence that shipped six goals against Everton last time out. However, it should be noted that Pelle has registered just a quarter of his goal attempts(11 of 44) on the road this term.

United’s Martial could be set to return to the central-striker berth against West Brom if his midweek Champions League outing is anything to go by: that has significantly boosted his scoring odds over team-mate Wayne Rooney (2.29). In truth, those odds look a little short – the Frenchman is without a goal in five league starts and is up against a Baggies rearguard that has shipped just two goals on their travels – fewer than any other side away from home.

Liverpool’s Christian Benteke follows on, with Paddy offering odds of 2.10 on an anytime goal for the Belgian. Having notched in his last two from the bench, Benteke will surely start against Palace at Anfield. However, Alan Pardew’s side have been in excellent defensive form of late: they’ve kept three clean sheets in the last five and have conceded just four goals on their travels all season.

Finally, Diego Costa is backed at 2.37 for Chelsea’s trip to Stoke City. The Spain international lays claim to just two goals in nine league appearances and could struggle to penetrate a Potters defence that’s carded three shut-outs in four outings.

CLEAN SHEET ODDS – GAMEWEEK 12

TeamOdds
Man United1.66

Liverpool2.20
Southampton2.40
Chelsea2.50
Leicester2.70
Arsenal2.80

Man United (1.66) are the favourites by a clear margin to record a clean sheet this Gameweek.

The Red Devils’ case is bolstered by the fact that only Stoke City have tallied fewer goals (10 compared to nine) and (110 to 109) than the Baggies across the entire campaign. Meanwhile, Louis van Gaal’s home rearguard is the most resolute in the league – United have shipped just a single goal at Old Trafford in five matches this season.

Man City are tipped at 2.10 ahead of their trip to struggling Villa. Remi Garde takes charge of a Villa side have scored just twice in their last four matches, with just three goals to their name in front of their own fans.

Liverpool rank next with odds of 2.20 for a shutout against Palace at Anfield. The Reds could profit from the Eagles’ current paucity of goal threat: Pardew’s men have failed to score in four of their previous seven matches.

Southampton will make the trip to the Stadium of Light to face a Sunderland side that’s also drawn blanks in four of their last seven league outings. Ronald Koeman’s men are undefeated in five and turn up on Wearside having allowed just two big chances to opponents on their travels – fewer than any other side, bar Palace.

Chelsea are backed at 2.50 for their Britannia Stadium visit, despite failing to claim a single clean sheet on their travels this term. Staying in London, Arsenal (2.80) are priced a little longer than in recent weeks, given that Spurs racked up 14 goals in their last five fixtures. Indeed, with just a single clean sheet to their name this season, Leicester are currently rated a stronger option (2.70) for a shut-out ahead of their home clash with Watford.

Don't be silly. It was a laugh, I found it very funny. You're being overly critical because it's Terry.

Savage voices an opinion, his job, and Terry gets personal. No one likes criticism, but no need to be so defensive. Although in Terry's case, if he was defensive in the first place he wouldn't have received criticism.

I have an issue with this. I don't mind him taking a swipe at Savage, because Savage talks nonsense, but the notion that he's somehow above criticism except from those at "his level". I've seen it before, Eamon Dunphy has had a go at people hosting football panels for not being players. Really irks me.

Prediction of the day: Vardy's bad boy reputation will rise again and him and Britos will have a scrap with both players heading for an early shower, with the score at 0-0. Leicester are awarded a penalty and Mahrez smashes it in emphatically but Roger East orders a retake after Albrighton entered the box too early. Mahrez retaliates furiously and he's also shown a red card, but something unexpected happens as a Watford fans throws a beach ball at his direction and knocks him clean out and looks to be out of action for 6 months. Ulloa then cooly slots home the winner 2 minutes from time.

Should I sell Payet? Was thinking about downgrading him to Willian & upgrade Martial to Pellé/Benteke.

    Fixtures:

    12 EVE (H)
    13 TOT (A)
    14 WBA (H)

Pick one from each group to bench:

    A) moreno, williams, kolarov, cedric
    B) mane, pelle, payet

This might be a silly question, but if you play AOA and a midfielder or striker doesn't play do your subs still come into effect?

Yes. And if you play your AOA and one of your midfielders or attackers doesn't play it will sub in your DEF but still use the chip. I learned this the hard way

Vardy captain? He have to beat a record for 9 games in a row so his teammates will assist hom even more?
