Is Mane going to just keep running around, boosting his opta stats and not scoring please?

Here's my team. What do people reckon to these transfers:

    a) Pelle + Sanchez --> Aguero + Deulofeu
    b) Pelle + KDB --> Aguero + MF £5.9 or less (King/Stanislas/Lingard/Davis or whoever)

    Butland / Gomes
    Bellerin / Cedric / Janmaat / Moreno / Simpson
    Sanchez / KDB / Ozil / Mané / Mahrez
    Pelle / Lukaku / Vardy

Good morning / other time appropriate greeting.

Can I have some feedback on these options please? 1ft and 0.3itb.

    Butland

    Kolarov, Toby, Rojo, Williams, Richards
    KDB, Sanchez, Eriksen, Mahrez, Surman
    Kun, Vardy, Lukaku

    A) save
    B) KDB > Firmino/Ozil
    C Williams > Moreno
    D) celebrate going top of my cash ML with B + C for a hit. 😀

B for Ozil is the priority, but I'm guessing you need the extra 0.2m from the Williams transfer? Moreno also likely to rise

Fantasy Football Scout daily hot topic

    Daring to go Aguero-less

A goal and a price rise on his return and the Sergio Aguero bandwagon has begun in earnest as his new owners hope he can significantly add to his seven goals and one assist so far this season.

Personally I’m still undecided about drafting him immediately, especially for a hit. There’s no doubting his ability to do well, especially with the armband on him.

But I’d be nervous about drafting him in ahead of his glass legs getting a run out in the Champions League or even in training.

In addition, are there better options?

Looking at the fixtures, and listening to Troy Deeney’s comments about targeting the next three games for points it wouldn’t surprise me to see Watford’s Ighalo equal or even beat Aguero’s tally over the next three.

While Manchester City face Southampton at home, Stoke away and Swansea at home Watford face avl, NOR, sun.

    What of Harry Kane?

Over the next three he faces CHE, wba and NEW. We all know what he can do against Chelsea, West Brom still look suspect defensively at home and Newcastle could be a goal blitz from the England striker.

And for those with one of those two plus Vardy and Lukaku, which do you ditch? Arguably none deserve the axe.

Going without Aguero is a nerve jangling experience, but before pressing that transfer button, especially for a hit, consider whether there may just be some better options.

Personally , I have got my captain picks wrong for last 3-4 weeks and I just want the security of Aguero (c) back 😀

Having Pelle suspended helps + I think City will bounce back strong from their Liverpool defeat and Aguero will be at the heart of it imo

It's just way too risky to go without Aguero. I'm going to have a frontline of:

      Aguero - Kane - Vardy

Vardy over Lukaku for me for balance in the squad, and I got him so cheap. It's just about making the choice of one between Kane and Lukaku IMO, and I chose Kane.

That's true, but I don't know why I'm not too 'fussed' on not having him at the moment. I believe Kane will outscore him. Just patiently waiting for a Lukaku blank.

But yes, you're right. Too many good striker options

      Agree.

I have identified GW16 as the week that I will want to trade Ighalo --> Aguero; I'll start storing some transfers accordingly.

I'll only go earlier if the price rises spiral out of control or a leg falls off of Lukaku or Kane.

Had a thought re KDB - if Aguero is rested midweek and Bony is still not fit I could see KDB deployed up front....which possibly raises questions about whether, with Silva back, KDB will even start against Saints.

Value isn't as important this year with Mahrez/Vardy at their prices.
I think Aguero will turn out better value than Kane.
I still have a decent team with Kun in there.

With my finger wavering over the Agüero move last night, aiming to beat his imminent rise and with a ready made patsy in Pellè (banned for GW14), I had a sudden moment of clarity seeing that Lukaku has Bournemouth next.

A minute later and my Kane, Vardy, Lukaku template was complete.

I reasoned that any of these 3 could match Agüero in the short term, and while 13.1 will become .2 or .3 pretty quickly, I'm going to have to sell a midfield big hitter to fund the move anyway, so there will be plenty of cash to play with (especially with the likes of Barkley/Deulofeu/Lingard/King etc. prominent).

I agree. Yes kun is explosive, but as long as Lukaku/vardy fire there is no reason to get Kun I reckon.

People forget Kun played 370 minutes prior to Newc and had nothing to show for it. we were all complaining about our Kun(c) fails

You sound a bit like someone who hasn't planned for Aguero's return into your team, so you are trying to retro-fit an argument for not wanting him (at least this week). I might be doing you a disservice, but there are people out there like this.

Ha, I can see why you think that. But remember all I'm doing here is trying to initiate a discussion here. Admittedly by doing that you sometimes have to be a bit devil's advocate and present an alternative view. For me I'm happy to take a hit for Aguero if I feel the time is right to bring him in. That plan has never changed. If Aguero is the captaincy saviour that many believe then -4 is a small price to pay.

I think many like me decided to use their Aguero cash elsewhere. For some, like me that hasn't really worked out. But it certainly has for others. Meanwhile there are plenty of those who decided to save their aguero cash and they've missed out on points as well particularly if they are only very recent converts to, or missed out entirely on, say Ozil, Lukaku or Kane.

Its different for everyone but its good to consider a range of options, whether they involve Aguero or not.

If we're all honest, the Aguero v Kane debate is impossible to call right now.

If Aguero's playing time is managed well and he stays injury free then I think he'll out score Kane over 6-7 weeks.

A lot will depend on Kane's performance today. If he scores well, the herd will see him as a definite alternative to Aguero this coming GW.

As for me, transferred out Pelle yesterday morning for Aguero - worked out well. Am happy at the moment at least.

      Front line of Lukaku-Vardy- Aguero.

Can't find any way to drop Ighalo/Lukaku/Vardy with the form/fixtures they are in.

Only way I'd make the move is xfer KDB/Vardy for Kun/Mahrez.

I Brought him in last night for Pelle. Kane has never been in my team and will only get in if Liukaku or Vardy slow down. However KDB would have to become Coutinho to fund Kane so I'm waiting for the dream line up of Aguero,Kane,Lukaku.

I've gone Aguero Lukaku Vardy. For me Aguero is simply Aguero and is the most explosive player in the game. Tbh it sounds like you're clutching at straws. No doubting that Kane Lukaku Vardy or Igahlo frontline is good. But I'd still rather have Aguero in my team.

i disagree aguero is also most expensive player in the game its not just about points . Kane and lukaku have arguablky better fixtures wont be taken off early and have form and their teams have form at the mo and vardy /ighalo are great value. The most expensive alternative to aguero is kane who is still 3.5 cheaper which is a shedload! you cant just compare aguero in a absoklute sense to the others without taking that into account.

Got a front line of Vardy, Kane and Lukaku (in this week for Pelle). Can't justify losing any so I'm leaving off at present. Still got a WC (and 2 FT's this week) so can easily emergency get him in if required but it's more a case of I can't due to the others.

No doubting agueros scoring ability but can't justify losing one of those right now and with Vardy it would mean a really rubbish 4th and 5th mid which isn't palatable.

I think I'm going without for a few more weeks.

Getting him in would mean downgrading one of KDB, Sanchez or Ozil. KDB got his best points when Aguero was around and I feel he will benefit from the Aregntine's return. Furthermore, given he is likely to be involved in Aguero's goals, any assists he gets may 'cover' some of Aguero's points.

As for Ozil, he looks an outstanding pick. He has been so consistent and has fantastic fixtures. Arsenal face Norwhich, Sunderland and Villa next, which means both Sanchez and Ozil should score very well. Sanchez could, and probably should have had 2 assists yesterday. One when Ozil hit the post, and the other for winning the penalty. Given many are losing faith with Sanchez, he could be somewhat of a deferential over the next few games.

When it comes to the forwards, a similar problem is presented. I currently have Kane, Lukaku and Vardy, non of whom deserve to be dropped. Vardy is the highest scoring of all forwards and has not blanked yet this season (FPL have him without an assist GW2, but other sites have him down with an assist). It would be mad to take him out now. People can talk about tough fixtures and Leicester losing form all they like, but they've been outstanding recently and show no signs of discontinuing their excellent form. He still has a few decent fixtures before they get worse, but even the teams he faces are susceptible to conceding. He is worth holding on to even if he gets one goal in those games. Watching the game yesterday, Vardy could have had several goals and assists. He looked as lively as ever and made a comment after the game about continuing the record.

Lukaku is also performing very well now. Everton's fixtures are ridiculous. Bournemouth, Palace, Newcastle, Leicester, Stoke and Norwich are their next 6. Lukaku has shown consistency and explosivity, proving to be a viable captain. He is certainly one of the best options in FPL right now, given he has form, as do Everton, and he has the fixtures (plus the stats) to back it up.

Kane has also found his form from last season. With several strong fixtures in the next few weeks, you simply cannot drop him. In fact, Kane's fixtures are brilliant up until GW26 when they have what may be the first bad fixture.

Now, look at Aguero's fixtures. Southampton aren't exactly leaky defensively. They haven't been as solid as previously they have been, but nevertheless they are a resilient side. They then face Stoke, a team who have been rejuvenated by the return of Ryan Shawcross. They have kept 5 clean sheets in 6 games, which should not be ignored. The game against Swansea is the first I will be nervous for. Aguero could score well against them, given their form has been poor recently. This will be the first target for me to get Aguero by, but realistically I don't think it will happen. Arsenal after is a tough fixture, even though they had a poor game this weekend, they are still solid. I don't see Aguero scoring highly there.

Then along comes Sunderland at home. This will be the game where I will be ensuring I have Aguero, assuming he is fit. Sanchez (and Ozil's) kind fixture run will have ended, and Vardy will be in the thick of some tough games. By this point, I would expect there will be some injuries to content with, possibly making the decision easier. Likewise, we may find certain players go out of form, making the decision easier once more.

As much as I would like Aguero now, it just doesn't seem like the right move. His fixtures aren't the best and did he really look 'that' good against Liverpool? He didn't have too many chances from what I can remember, and many on here were saying 'I won't be bringing Aguero in now blah blah blah' before he scored. Factor in the likelihood of substitutions around the hour mark and it takes away from the appeal.

People are being driven by the fear of not owning him, a solid captain choice and the rapid price rises.

I'm not too fearful, I don't think he will he get monster points just yet. I probably wouldn't captain him for all of the next few games; Lukaku, Kane, Vardy etc. all look just as good if not better options. The price rises could be an issue, but as long as he doesn't rise past 13.5m I will be able to bring him in when the time is right.

Sanchez also played that fantastic pass to Joel Campbell I think, when he butchered the amazing chance. Having watched the full 90 minutes of the Arsenal game yesterday, I thought Sanchez was their best player.

        Very well reasoned response. Thanks.

I agree with all your points so am considering Iglaho (sp?) for his good fixtures for a frontline of Vardy, Lukaku, Iglaho then I can either swap Vardy to Augero if he looks like losing form due to his poor fixtures

Vardy, Lukaku, Ighalo is a very good front line, with the latter facing Villa, Norwich and Sunderland next. Not sure I'd bring him in if I didn't already have him though, since the fixtures following those games are atrocious.

It's definitely worth thinking about going Aguero-less. Playing the game in a regimented manner without thinking about what you're doing has led to trouble this season, for me and other fantasy managers.

But I think it's a poor option esp for more than 1-2 weeks. Those with Kane-Lukaku-Vardy should be looking at selling Kane for him I reckon, although for a hit might be a bit too far.

Kane is just not as explosive as Aguero - we saw yesterday a half fit Kun trundle around in a team getting flogged and do nothing much, and still pick up a goal. Imagine what he can do when he's fully fit and against a weaker opponent!

I'm watching behind the couch in a different manner though. Spurs fan, Harry Kane is my favourite player, so every Kane goal is about 90% joy 10% knife to the fantasy heart!

agueros goal has probably changed that now, depends on champ league to, if he plays and scores, sure people will rethink, as you say so many other good options, only 2 in my ml brought him in this week, if more do it, sure the trigger will be pulled for others, aguero a differential if brought in quickly!
but will his fitness hold, gametime, couple tricky fixtures,if you bring him in,surely you need to cap him. lukaku, vardy kane all in form, good fixtures betwen them, ars have good fixtures nor, sun, villa,
sanchez ozil giroud/wally could be in the pts to, i will hold for now, as hard as it is !

For those with Pelle the decision is easy and most of the Aguero transfers in are probably from those selling Pelle.

For those with Lukaku Vardy Kane/Ighalo its not so easy and a wait for now policy is probably best, especially if your thinking of getting Aguero in for a hit. Come GW16 things get trickier though as Aguero will hopefully be back to full fitness and play Swans so your going to want him back in your team. So start planning now for who to transfer out from Lukaku Vardy Kane/Ighalo and how to fund it without a hit.

With Silva back, why would anyone want to risk it? He could have easily got two and bonus point/s in the 60 mins he played in spite of being unfit!! Thats Aguero for us, as we know.

Going Aguero-less is a risk - definitely, but its something that I'm not prepared to take. His price has started rising adn will probably reach 13.3 or even 13.6 by the time these fixtures (the ones u talk about) get over

All this sounds more like a rant from someone who has spread all his Aguero cash everywhere else and now consoling himself like a kid saying 'my Ighalo is better than your Aguero' or whatever.

the reasoning of 'Deeney said they're going to try and win so Ighalo will go great' is a bit sketchy for sure, but it's a question certainly worth asking. Not a rant against Aguero..

For now I'm going with Kane - his fixtures basically until February are pretty exceptional.
4m itb (which is where the Aguero / Kane price differential is going to end up soon) offers too many opportunities to upgrade midfield/defence.
Aguero might hurt me odd individual gameweeks but the extra points gained elsewhere that the cash differential could enable make me to able to live with it for now.

Pretty much the only good thing about being a Pelle owner is not having to think twice about this. It was a pleasure to ship him and Mane to make way for Aguero and a 4.3m mid.

I would argue, however, that getting Aguero for security as a captain is not necessarily based in fact -- he blanked fairly often before he pulled an Aguero in gameweek 8.

Couple of things I noticed from the highlights:

Mahrez created a bunch of chances and should have had a 1v1 if Vardy wasn't incredibly selfish.

Stanislas seemed to take some set pieces from the left side.

Mahrez is an excellent player, could've easily had 4 assists and a goal if Vardy took his chances and passed to him. Very underrated imo

    A) 12 points + Kane + Alderweireld

    B) 7 points + Cabaye (c)

    C) 1 point + Rose + Dann + Kane (c) (me!)

    D) Alderweireld + Eriksen (ok he's probably out of it)

    Hi all, current back line is as follows, is it too expensive?;

    DDG - McCarthy

    Bellerin - Moreno - Alderweireld - VVD - Dawson.

Should I downgrade one of Bellerin/Alderweireld to Simpson and free up funds elsewhere?

Do you need to free up funds?

If you need to for Kun then do it, but if you're fine on the budget then there's no need. Especially going to the busy Christmas period.

Yes did Pelle > Kun yesterday.

Very tempted to do KDB > Coutinho -4 but a bit concerned that KDB will explode when I drop him. Bringing in Simpson would allow me Cout and KDB eventually in the same midfield.

Hmm, KDB (SOU) could get an assist or goal somewhere, especially with Kun back. So I'd say hold off, and do it for free next week.

    Need some opinions
Swapping Pelle and KDB out this week for Aguero + a mid.
Can do to Ozil but I already have Sanchez. Could also take a -4 and swap Pelle,KDB, Dawson> Aguero, Silva and Moreno

Coutinho seems to be the "must have" right now so I'd say him over Silva as there is still no mention when Silva will return.

Is it crazy that I prefer a fit Coutinho above Mahrez? I know it's quite unbelievable I don't have Mahrez, but sold him on a WC when he was benched in back-to-back games. I'd like some Liverpool coverage, especially with their good fixtures coming up. That's why I'd go for Coutinho instead of Mahrez.

        1. Ha.
          • 8 Years

Had Mahrez since inception, so seems a little crazy. It's not too late though? He's a better option than Barkley (more consistent) in my opinion. Can you get both? I like Coutinho but must wait to here some news before acting.

          1. hannesdela
            • 12 Years
            8 years, 6 months ago

Yes, I also consider him to be a better option than Barkley. I could get both because next to Payet I also have Mané who is performing very badly.

In that case I would need to take a hit of -4 and I just don't know if that's sensible. With Ighalo, Lukaku and Vardy all in great shape, I'll only start 4 midfielders. Özil, Ayew, Sanchez and Coutinho/Mahrez.

Next gameweek I play the leader in my head-to-head league too.. So do you think taking the hit is a good move or could I delay the Mahrez transfer to next week, barring in mind he has to play Man Utd's defence now?

            1. Ha.
              • 8 Years
              8 years, 6 months ago

Yes I'd delay Mahrez. He's owned by c.60% and so I think Coutinho price will rise more over the next couple of weeks. Still fancy him to get an assist at Utd, but Coutinho has greater goal potential.

Thanks a lot mate 🙂 I'll get Coutinho in as soon as the injury scan gives a good result. Then next week I'll re-enter the majestic Mahrez into my team.
