The Big Numbers – Midfielders – Last Four Gameweeks

Having assessed the defensive data over the last four rounds of fixtures earlier in the week, we now turn our attentions to the centre of the park. We analyse a host of playmakers from Everton, Spurs, Arsenal, West Ham and City before casting an eye over the recent new arrivals at Sunderland and Newcastle, as the Wear-Tyne duo step up their battle to beat the drop.

To be fair last week was the first time I got points from Coutinho (Who was my replacement for Mane who I also got no points for from 1st pick)

So I am amazed I'm even in contention!

You are not helping. Every mention of this leads to more people considering this idea to save money. But the cool kids 😎 are ignoring money problems in favour of the extra information we will have after 2 days.

Personally I have exact budget to get Sánchez with all the United defensive injuries, but I am willing to miss out on this as I am going to wait out the FA Cup matches. With the state of the game right now, if we are about to miss out on a player we want, there are always good options. Khazri / Payet / Siggy etc. so many template busters are available if we want to.

      BLANK POSSIBILITIES:

Arsenal vs West Brom – If ARS beat HUL or if WBA beat REA.

Man Utd vs Crystal Palace – If MUN beat SHR or if CRY beat TOT.

West Ham vs Watford – If WHU beat BLA or if WAT beat LEE.

Aston Villa vs Spurs – If TOT beat CRY.

Liverpool vs Chelsea – If CHE beat MCI.

Sunderland vs Everton – If EVE beat BOU.

Norwich vs Man City – If MCI beat CHE.

Bournemouth vs Swansea – If BOU beat EVE.

Leicester vs Newcastle – Can’t be a blank.

Stoke vs Southampton – Can’t be a blank.

How many points are we hoping to make up over our ML rivals with our DGWs? Many of us are hoping for huge swings to the order of 30-40 points if our DGWers fire well along with our bench boosts and what nots.

I just realised that the swing in points although still in our favour could be much lower considering that rivals could get the same team as us with 2 FTs saved and a -12 or even a -16.

Not trying to sound pessimistic though. This is just a reminder to not put all your eggs in the DGW basket (WC just before/after) and play sensibly till then, especially if you are already leading or near to the leader. I myself am currently leading so it's safety first for me. Don't care as much about OR as I do my cash ML.

If any of City, Everton, Liverpool & New have a match in GW30, they could be the ones to get... A game in hand with no blank sounds like gold dust to me.

      NEW doesn't blank.
Between LIV and MCI, only one will blank.

Oh I see what you mean though... Yeah it is a shame Newcastle are so terrible, but yeah Liv/ City will be very tempting with their game in hand. Coutinho could be worth a punt if so.

Who's best DDG replacement if it's bad news? I'm thinking Courtois. Already have Elliot which is a great joy for this week (sigh) but means least means I have a keeper for gw30. Chech the only one I can't afford

Since you have a keeper for GW30 you might want to ensure a future DGW and go for someone who blanks in GW30.

The only problem with that logic is that Newcastle at Leicester isn't necessarily much better than a blank!

      1. Rhinos

Yeah. A blank keeper the way forward so won't do it till after fa cup assuming ddg out.

I am thinking Forster. If they can keep their defensive form then even a double-up seems ok. And if they don't then he will at least tick along nicely till the end of the season anyhow. If you already have a SOT defender then that is a different matter then. Courtois looks a good bet as you point out.
