Fantasy Football Scout Cup XII – The Final

This evening we reveal the result of the Fantasy Football Scout Cup XII final and the name of the Fantasy manager who has joined previous winners donnellyc, Jonty, Gribude, Goonerdave, Ninja_Fit_Saints, sleeping master, Mch, Wild Rover, Tdubb05 , CMIFLFC and Mark in our Cup hall of fame.

With a rank of 2,842 Leon Harris went into the Fantasy Football Scout Cup XII final, against 27,046 ranked community regular Numb, with form on his side.

Leon was at a disadvantage heading into Gameweek 32, though. While he had used up all his chips in his march to the final, including a savvy triple captaincy of Harry Kane for his semi-final clash with konman, Numb had a second wildcard, triple captaincy and bench boost at his disposal, as well as two free transfers.

Instead of using his chips to help his cause in the final, Numb opted to prioritise the forthcoming double Gameweeks, leaving Leon to claim a comfortable victory by 84 points to 69.

Numb may have shunned the use of his chips but he did use his two free transfers well, taking out Spurs defender Toby Alderweireld, who conceded against Liverpool, and Manchester City’s injured midfielder Yaya Toure for Arsenal’s Hector Bellerin, who netted 14 Fantasy Premier League points, and Dimitri Payet, who scored a wonder goal from a free kick.

Leon’s XI proved too strong, though, with his differentials of Swansea’s Gylfi Sigurdsson, Manchester City’s David Silva and Leicester’s Wes Morgan all bringing in the points. The 15 FPL points from Morgan meant that Leon managed to outgun Numb’s Leicester defender Christian Fuchs, who still scored an impressive 10 FPL points

Leon’s victory takes him to an impressive 1,303rd in the overall rankings and earns him first prize of a £200 Amazon voucher.

Numb is now 23,218th overall but with his chips still to play he looks well-placed for a further climb up the rankings. He also takes away the runner-up prize of a £100 Amazon voucher to console himself.

Thanks to all those who took part in this competition, which this year showed how the use of chips and wildcards can prove pivotal to success.

Too risky to go with both Gabriel and Iwobi? Have exact cash to upgrade Gabriel to Monreal for added security ?

I'd put him back in for Ozil. Could downgrade Clyne and Bellerin to Sakho and Monreal to free up the cash.

Good TV it seems so downgrade Clyne to Sakho / Lovren or downgrade Fuchs to Simpson to do Ozil --> KDB

I really like the fact that Arsenal have no other commitments except the Premier League. I think Ozil will play every game until the BPL is resolved. For that reason mostly, and because KDB just cam back and might be subject to rotation, I favor Ozil right now.

KDB certainly looks fresh and raring to go though. Thanks for the input.

This is my thought process too as it stands - yes he's scored 2 in 2 but if you've just come back from injury and have an important champs league fixture to play, you're going to either rotate or play 60 - 70 minutes imo

            Thanks.

I am torn at the moment. I need to drop either KDB, Ozil, or Coutinho. Sanchez and Payet are staying, and Lanzini is my enabler. That leaves only 2 midfield spots.

So many WC teams without Mahrez - are we not worried that he might burn us with his high ownership? Even an assist could hurt with ownership that high (68%!)

No because it's too expensive to own DDG + Smalling, and I wouldnt want triple Utd with Martial, with a blank in 35

Ozil has blanked 8 of last 11 and with attacking points spread, cleansheets look a more secure source of points for the money spent. Bellerin-Gab-Alexis costs 5m less than Bellerin-Ozil-Alexis.
