The ScoutCast – Episode 189 – Trapdoor

Have we fallen hook, line and sinker? After taking a beating by a cast of talent sacrificed in our Gameweek 33 Wildcards, it certainly feels we’ve obliviously wandered over a trapdoor and slammed back down to earth.

We’re back up to full strength in the ScoutCast as Jonty, Andy and Luke join me to compare the bruises inflicted by our Gameweek 33 refresh. We endevour to remain optimistic, clinging to the hope that the Gameweek 34 bench boost chip will deliver and help us balm the damage from a disastrous weekend.

Judging by the line of questioning from the community, we’re not the only ones smarting. The four of us pick through your bout of queries, before looking ahead the weekend and the Gameweek that could yet revive our seasons.

This episode of the ScoutCast was first aired live on our YouTube channel on Wednesday night. Be sure to subscribe to get a heads up on future broadcasts.

Sorry ... i know it's done to death, but:

    a) Lennon > Lanzini
    b) Gabriel & Lennon > FM & Iwobi (-4)

Why take out Gabriel? is it to get Iwobi if so not worth it on a minus Imo assuming you have arsenal attacking coverage

Correct ... I honestly think Gabriel will be benched for at least one of the games, and if Mertesacker comes in and performs well it could be two!

if thats the case then hope gabriel plays 1st and impresses or hope for a kosielny red card.. maybe

I've got a pretty similar issue, and I think I'm leaning towards Townsend. Plays 35, decent fixtures in 36 and 37 too, this truly is last chance saloon for Newcastle, and he looks like one of the few players who is up for it.

With all the rotation worries, injury worries etc. I just don't think I can afford to bring in someone else without a fixture in 35. And with just 0.2 itb, there's not really anywhere else I can go.

You wouldn't consider Lanzini with the double knowing you'd need to take a -4 hit to replace ... the question is would he return that 4 points more than Townsend in a DGW?

        1. Geordienufc1

I don't see West Ham doing particularly well in the double. Away at Leceister, well we all know how they're playing at the minute. Watford are more tempting, though it's difficult to say. But the issue is that I don't want to commit myself to having to take a hit given all of the possibility for further issues arising out of GW34. Imagine the scenario in which 1 or 2 key players get injured, and I've already committed myself to a hit. I'd rather not be taking a -8 or higher heading into 35 if it can be avoided.

It's not cut and dry though, so I wouldn't say Lanzini is a bad idea.

Depends on who else you picked.
If you have Robles, I would just go for A)
If not, then B) for the sake of Everton Def coverage.

    Any preference ?

    Lennon to Lanzini

    Or

    Lennon/Gabriel to Iwobi/ Mangala for -4

Only issue is that Kompany may return next week and oust Mangala, leaving another whole in the XI

Gabriel is very likely to start no reason not to, Mangala on the other hand might not get both games, if you can do lennon to Iwobi without ditching gabriel then do that

      BTW I think Milner

I would like to bring in Milner, I was certainly planning it in 35, but the injury issue with Lennon and just 0.2 itb is forcing my hand I think, because there's nowhere else I can really downgrade.

Thoughts on Yaya for the DGW? Not a name mentioned round these parts for a long time.

I currently have Yaya (don't ask) - how many minutes do you think he'll get this DGW?

He didn't start vs PSG which worries me, would you get rid for a hit or hold on if you owned him?

    De Gea

    Lukaku - Aguero - Martial

    Bench: Hart, Alli, Simpson, VVD

GW 8 last season. Aguero(c) vs Spurs, Tadic 23 points, Pelle, Baines, BOYD!!

      700K to 13K in a single GW.

Finished at 1448. Best so far 🙂

Best run this season was 7 greens in a row from 104k to 9k. Nothing spectacular but safe to say DGW prep last week was the red to derail my run 😆

      Currently 8 in a row i'm certain i haven't done that before

I always start the season poorly and then go on a decent run of green arrows. Best was something like 12 in row or maybe 12 from 1e. But granted that was something like a 7 figure starting point.

Lanzini is far more attractive. He's more involved in the attack recently and is cheaper. I'll be getting him for the double in 37.

Bench boosting this week, 1FT, 2.8m ITB. This worth a -8?

Daniels, Wolly, Lennon > Otamendi, Moreno, Milner

    Current team -

    ROBLES, HENESSEY
    BELLERIN, GABRIEL, Fuch, Wolly, Daniels
    LENNON*, YAYA, OZIL, PAYET, Mahrez
    AGUERO, LUKAKU, Kane

    1. Jafalad

Nothing against hits in a dgw. However, the three players you are looking at bringing in must have some sort of question mark about gametime.

      1. Jafalad
        • 14 Years
        8 years, 1 month ago

Sackho, Fensu - M and Iwobi would be my choice.

        1. GK
          • 10 Years
          8 years, 1 month ago

Sakho - same game time as Moreno? TFM - would leave me with 1 less player in GW35, again not guaranteed game time. Iwobi - have 3 Arsenal already!

Surely with Can injured Milner and Ota are nailed and both have GW35 fixtures?

            • 14 Years

Lennon to Antonio/Lanzini worth a -4? (will need to take a hit in GW35 to field a team).

If you were looking for a defender who has a double next week and a game the week after who cannot be Arsenal or Liverpool and costs less than 5.4 who would you be looking at?

      A WBA defender most probably.

That is what I was thinking as well. Just a shame about the terrible GW 35 fixture

Yea 🙁 but I guess at least they play that week. They could surprise you and pull off a clean sheet. Highly unlikely, but anything is possible this season

Too bad Janmaat is out. You're only left with Clichy who is risky, you can get Dawson and hope for some attacking returns. But perhaps you really should consider a SGW player instead, like a Leicester defender who could conceivably get two CSs in 2 games.

        This also.

The SGW player will play just as many games over the two GW's as the DGWer's who blank in 35 will.

Perfectly valid argument. I just want to put 15 DGW's out this week for the sake of it really

I would probably go Mangala.. kompany not expected back till 35 at the earliest and i think even if fit they would want him fresh for champions league

Kane and Ozil to Marital and Sanchez for -4

    Or

Kane and Lennon to Martial and Lanzini for -4

Do you think Martial will outscore Kane over the next two GW's? Both have the same amount of fixtures.

Wickham > Mitrovic is the plan.

Worth a hit to get Martial's 2 great fixtures, i.e

    Wickham > Martial > Pelle/Mitrovic (GW35)?

For those with bench boost and triple captain remaining, given the rotation uncertainty this weekend anyone thinking of triple captain this week and bench boost in week 37?

    1. Squiggle

More so because of the fixtures that Sanchez has, the form he is in, and the unlikeliness of rotation.

No - there will be even more rot in 37. Think about it.

Imagine how much of a mess GW37 could be if the title race, top 4 race and relegation battle is all settled (which could very well happen)

OR 450K with nothing really to play for but pride

2 FT, 1.5m ITB and using BB this week

    Robles Darlow
    Kosceilny Gabriel Sakho Rojo Mangala
    Ozil Payet Coutinho Barkley Bolasie
    Aguero Lukaku Rashford

With so many roatation risks in my team, should I

    A) use the 2 FT this week to maximise the BB DGWers
    or
    B) just bring in Milner for Bolasie/Barkley and save FT for blank 35

Thoughts? Help? Save me from this awful season 🙁

Same as me. Playing for nothing anymore. 445k OR

I'd do B. You'll have trouble fielding a 10 players next week otherwise.

B was my initial plan anyway so think i need to probably stick with what I have and reassess GW 35 with 2 FT.

Great for English football, but City and Pool getting through in their cup competitions really is terrible news for fantasy :/

At this rate I'm looking at 5 starters in GW35 with all the doubts surrounding KDB, Coutinho, Gabriel, Sakho, even Aguero gametime.

Puts me off bringing in Lanzini for Lennon this week somewhat, given no 35 fixture.

Probably need to see how much rot there is going to be tbh. CTY still need to make the top 4 do not forget.

This is true, assuming they are realistic about their chances in the champions league. Hoping for the best, expecting the worst.
