The ScoutCast – Episode 189 – Trapdoor

Have we fallen hook, line and sinker? After taking a beating by a cast of talent sacrificed in our Gameweek 33 Wildcards, it certainly feels we’ve obliviously wandered over a trapdoor and slammed back down to earth.

We’re back up to full strength in the ScoutCast as Jonty, Andy and Luke join me to compare the bruises inflicted by our Gameweek 33 refresh. We endevour to remain optimistic, clinging to the hope that the Gameweek 34 bench boost chip will deliver and help us balm the damage from a disastrous weekend.

Judging by the line of questioning from the community, we’re not the only ones smarting. The four of us pick through your bout of queries, before looking ahead the weekend and the Gameweek that could yet revive our seasons.

This episode of the ScoutCast was first aired live on our YouTube channel on Wednesday night. Be sure to subscribe to get a heads up on future broadcasts.

If MUN don't keep clean sheets, will there be much wailing, and gnashing of teeth? 🙂

          So Delaney > Fosu-Mensah (-4) is a bad idea? 😆

More likely to be rotation and early substitutions which will cause wailing and gnashing of teeth

Though this might affect defensive points more than offensive points - attackers could score in fewer minutes than it takes to earn a cleanie

Getting subbed at half time or before 60 gets 1pt

Yeah, and no cleanie, so defenders are more affected by rotation than forwards. 😉

Who will score more points this week: martial or fosu-mensah?

Well its closer than many might predict. I think I'll still lean towards martial though for the Villa factor. Even LVG's United should manage to score a goal or two in that game.

No, Origi despite being in form will see some rotation. Could be worth it for free but the hit tips the balance against imo

He can't play in the CL so that helps his PL game time a lot. Along with injuries and form issues with others.

I'm doing this move I think.

As mentions above it Makes sense when looking at 35 importantly. Many will take a hit then so you've just moved that forwards and got a better player for the double

My team is in a bit of a shambles currently, 1FT, 2.8m ITB and BB this week. Would really appreciate your thoughts!

    ROBLES, HENNESSEY
    GABRIEL, BELLERIN, Fuchs, Wolly, Daniels
    OZIL, PAYET, YAYA, LENNON*, Mahrez
    AGUERO, LUKAKU, Kane

    (A) Lennon > Coutinho/Firmino
    (B) Lennon + Wolly > C/F + Sakho (-4)
    (C) Lennon + Wolly + Daniels > Milner + Otamendi + Moreno (-8)
    (D) Lennon + Yaya + Daniels + Wolly > Nasri, F, Otamendi, Sakho (-12)

Good options also. I'd still be wary of Iwobi's game time though. I don't think he'll get 180

I'm also wary, but I reckon he could rack up a nice amount of points in the time he does play.

It is all about ceiling.. For me Bellerin have a potential of 1 assist and 1 CS (or similar), which does not match Aguero/Sanchez. A real differential though!

I'd say he will get 2 clean sheets and has a great chance for an assist. Maybe 15-20pts for the DGW. I think its a likely ceiling albeit not a crazy high one.

I've gone for Lanzini simply because I'd be happy to have him for the rest of the season and he's cheap. No GW35 but if you can make it work It'd be well worthwhile imo. Completely nailed on is also key here.

BB'ing this week. I never take hits, but considering one this week

    Worth the -4?

    Robles - Elliott
    Gabriel - Clyne - Sakho - Delaney - Simpson
    Sanchez - Ozil - Coutinho - Payet - Barkley
    Kun - Kaku - Martial

    Barkley/Delaney > Lanzini/Smalling (-4)

    What to with Jags...?
    A. Fosu-Mensah FT. Nailed on for both of the DGW games?
    B. Smalling -4 (with Lennon to another mid..). Solves two problems, worth a hit?
    C. Play Sakho, save FT. Will he play against Bournemouth, can they keep a cleansheet against Everton?
    Your pick ?

2nd GK at the moment is Hennessy. 5th mid is Lanzini. Not against hits this week to sort out the defence as it could he worth it with DGW

is delaney > smalling (-4) really worth it? let's say

    Delaney: 2pts + 2pts = 4pts
    Smalling: 8pts + 2pts = 10pts(-4) = 6pts

    that's just 2 points profit

Worth it. Your realistic downside scenario here is +2 points and your realistic upside scenario is +8 points.

Palace might concede more than 2 in both games. Could be looking at 1s or 0s for Delaney. Then it's worth it.

Why would you not want 2 points profit?

Coutinho likely to miss game against Bournmouth, along with maybe Sakho.

    What are people doing?

Think Coutinho has a good chance to play and other defs will be rested next time. So keep and play both

Worth selling Dan to a City or United defender? Don't have the cash for Smalling or Otamendi

Hello! I have one transfer that I can use this week, how would you use it?

    A) Clichy to Otamendi
    B) Delaney to Sagna/Kompany/Mangala
    C) Barkley to Nasri/Mata
    D) Sakho to Sagna/Mangala/Company/Clyne

    Any help would be awesome.

Yup. But don't have it with Mata.

Just a little worried because Nasri wasn't involved at all vs PSG. Or was he not registered for the CL?

Not registered. However its hard to see him starting 3 games in 34 and 35. I could see him just starting one.

Mata is not nailed. He didnt play vs West Ham in the FA Cup, which was a very important game.

Not registered in the CL which is what makes him a great option.
