The Weekly Shop – Gameweek 36

Our Wednesday evening jaunt to the Weekly Shop arrives, as we cast an eye over the player lists of our partner games to pinpoint the likely targets that will make up our own weekly squads.

As always, we divide the player analysis into two parts: I’ll highlight the key targets that no squad can do without in “Better Buys”, before seeking out those one-shot “Poundstretcher” prospects that can provide us points, whilst freeing up funds.

For this week’s selection, we’re focusing on the FantasyBet and DraftKing player lists.

Better Buys

Watford have not been keeping many clean sheets of late, registering only one in seven league outings. Heurelho Gomes (FantasyBet 4.5m Draftkings $4,000), however, has leapt to the top of the goalkeeper leaderboard after recording two penalty stops at West Brom – the Brazilian has now made ten more saves this campaign than any other keeper. An average of 4.8 saves per match over the last 10 Gameweeks suggests the Hornets keeper should be able to keep out an Aston Villa side that have scored once in six away trips.

Sunderland moved out of the drop zone thanks to a goalless draw with Arsenal that provided a third shut-out in four matches. Sam Allardyce has clearly focused on defensive resilience for the run-in and another clean sheet is on the cards against a Stoke side that have failed to net in back-to-back matches. Patrick Van Aanholt (FantasyBet 4.5m Draftkings $4,000) has scored five goals this campaign and while none have arrived since January, seven attempts over his last four appearances shows the Dutchman is still getting chances.

Dimitri Payet (FantasyBet 7.5m Draftkings $8,200) picked up a tenth assist of the campaign at home to Watford last time out and continues to post impressive numbers, with 16 chances created and 11 attempts on goal over his last four run outs. West Ham should be fresh for the visit to West Brom after having a ten-day break since their previous match, while the Baggies picked up a hard-fought draw at Spurs on Monday night.

Alexis Sanchez (FantasyBet 11m Draftkings Forward $7,400) may have blanked at the Stadium of Light but a recent record of six goals and three assists in seven league appearances makes the Chilean difficult to ignore at home to a Norwich side with a single clean sheet on their travels all season.

It may be a week to play a five-man midfield or punt on some budget frontmen in our line-ups with big hitting strikers having limited appeal for various reasons. Manchester City travel to Southampton and Sergio Aguero (FantasyBet 13m) may well see reduced pitch time with a trip to Real Madrid soon after. Elsewhere, a Europa League semi-final with Villarreal also reduces the appeal of Liverpool’s attackers for their visit to Swansea, whilst Romelu Lukaku (FantasyBet 9m) may be playing at home to Bournemouth but is without a goal in five league matches. Harry Kane (FantasyBet 9.5m) looks a safer bet, though – the Spurs frontman has netted eight goals in seven and faces a Chelsea side that have only kept out Aston Villa in their last ten matches.

Jamie Vardy’s extended suspension could see Leonardo Ulloa (FantasyBet 5m) start once again if the Argentine can recover from a back injury that forced his withdrawal last time out. Shinji Okazaki (FantasyBet 5.5m) would be the most likely alternative, though be sure to check team news if you’re backing the Foxes to prosper at Old Trafford.

Poundstretchers

The Black Cats keeper Vito Mannone (FantasyBet 4m Draftkings $3,600) has been key to their recent solidity with back-to-back double-digit hauls making the Italian a tempting budget option to consider between the sticks for the trip to the Britannia.

Jamaal Lascelles (FantasyBet 4m Draftkings $2,400) appears to have cemented a spot in Rafa Benitez’s backline ahead of a home clash with a Crystal Palace side that will be focused on staying fit for the FA Cup final. The Magpies conceded just once in their two St James’ matches in Gameweek 34 and Lascelles also grabbed a goal in the first of those fixtures, earning a 14-point haul in the 3-0 win over Swansea.

Arsenal’s Alex Iwobi (FantasyBet 4.5m Draftkings $4,600) continues to be picked ahead of more established team-mates and has started six successive matches. Although the youngster’s form has dropped off, a pair of goals and as many assists since becoming a regular in the team still represents a decent return for a winger that provides a bargain route into an Arsenal midfield facing the Canaries at the Emirates.

Andy Carroll (FantasyBet 6m Draftkings $5,000) should be well-suited for the likely aerial battles at the Hawthorns. The Hammers frontman delivered a sixth goal in five outings in the trip to Watford last time out and looks to be finding his best form ahead of next week’s pair of fixtures.

Jermain Defoe (FantasyBet 5m Draftkings $5,100) arrives on our radar for Sunderland’s trip to a Stoke side that’s conceded four times in each of their previous three. The Black Cats top scorer seems to fare better on the road and has netted ten of his 13 goals away from home this season.

These are the contenders for my weekly contest lineups. Tomorrow I’ll also bring you up to date on my progress in FantasyBet, as I continue my quest for profit in the 2015/16 campaign.

“Papiss is doing a great job. And after, you know [Aleksandar] Mitrovic will come and be a threat too. I think we have to find the balance between one, the other one and sometimes even both [like] against Sunderland. You have to be sure both are ready and they compete between them. That is good for the team.”

In the members' comparison tool. Was trying to decide on them for the coming week, but they have the exact same 'summmary' of stats. 50% split with +5 key ( the way it is summarised in the tool). I checked for the season whole and used per game average. I didn't mean to hint at anything, just that it is such a great coincidence that it is exactly same when everybody is trying to work out the two of those players.

Yup, actual stats and other things are quite different, but the summary of the both of them just exact same. Felt it was a good enough coincidence to dwell upon for others to marvel at. I might be getting both, but not right now, need to wait and see a bit.

Perhaps he has a niggle and can't perform for 90, but is there as insurance to gamble with if things are going badly wrong.

It's just so inconceivable that he could be left out when fit, it is all I'm left with!!

Triple captain options for DGW 37?
      No prolific player involved sadly.
      Carroll or Sturridge maybe?
      Who else?
Or just ignore the DGWs and triple captain Sanchez either this week against Norwich or GW38 against Aston Villa?

A moment of sobriety.I am listening to the memorial service for the 96 and when the names of the dead are read out it is very sobering. As a Sheffield resident and having lived here for over 30 years our police force is quite rightly being held to account. However I believe the issue here runs much deeper. I am originally from Coventry and stood in the Leppings Lane end in the 1987 FA Cup quarter final. I was 25 at the time and had a young child stood in front of me for the whole match. At the end I was exhausted from holding back surging fans behind me to prevent that child being crushed.
The football authorities and Sheffield Wednesday FC should take a huge amount of responsibility for the disaster as quite obviously on a regular basis far too many fans were admitted into that enclosure. All fans entering that end migrated towards the central tunnel access point which was simply not big enough.
May those 96 rest in peace and I hope their relatives can find some solace and closure.

      Repost..

      Team:

      Darlow - Robles
      Gabriel - Sakho - Simpson - Bellerin - TFM
      Payet - Lanzini - KDB - Alli - Sanchez
      Mitrovic - Kun - Kane

      Potential transfers:

      Sakho,Alli, Mitrovic -> PvA+Defoe+8.9 mid Worth -8?

Which mid to bring in? Firmino/Milner?

      Cheers

        Townsend?

And then I will get a nailed MUN defender(if that exists), I guess Smalling for DGW37.

No need to do it all this week IMO. Why not bring in either PVA or Defoe and hold. We've all gone BB mad - you only need 11

Thanks. Thats a valid point. As I´m not very vulnerable to price rises for those targets, this might actually be the way to go. Would you prioritize Defoe or PvA though?

On the basis that Sakho def won't play and Mitro might I'd get PVA first

      Would really value opinions...

      Current team for GW36 is:

      Hart
      Bellerin Simpson Smalling
      Sanchez Mahrez Payet Lanzini
      Aguero Kane Mitrovic

      Robles, Sakho, Gabriel, Alli
      1 FT £2.9itb

Best way to fix the horror bench/Mitro situation?!

      My current thoughts are between:
      A) Sakho > PVA
      B) Mitrovic > Carroll
      C) Both for -4

      Any suggestions?!

Who would you suggest bringing in for Alli? Think it's worth keeping hold of Mitrovic for 37 then?

I'm prob biassed cos I need defenders and mids in my team too so a hit for Mitro seems wasteful when I can improve elsewhere.

If I was taking Mitro out I'd look at Defoe but arguably with Newcastle fighting and at Villa in 37 it seems worth sticking.

Alli out for a Chelsea mid as you have the money and the space imo. Which one? I'd play safe and go Willian.

Hmm, hadn't thought about Chelsea. Willian is a good shout. Worth a hit though? Guess he'd need to outscore Mitrovic but that wouldn't be hard with his recent 1pt cameos!

It's a minefield with all the rotations at this stage of the season. It's not worth taking a hit for a player to bench so:

                This week Sakho-PVA, no hits.

If hits must, it's got to be Alli out though I'd be inclined to bring in someone nailed on, and with a dgw, depending on how you want to play. But no, Willian is not nailed, and therefore not worth a hit, though I will probably take a hit for this next week.

I will be playing with a Coutinho/Mitrovic non-nailed gamble but there's no point doing that sort of thing for a hit.

If you want to go darkside bring in someone like Watford's Ben Watson... Or triple up on West Ham and get Antonio too.

I think I've lost the plot.

Would you rather have Cresswell or Azpi for the DGW37? Thinking Cresswell. Which means......

Also thinking of going with triple attackers from Chelsea. Costa, fabs and Hazard. Mad I know but I fancy going out with a bang....or whimper.

Alli and De Bruyne to Firmino and Payet

          or I suppose

Alli and De Bruyne to Sturridge and Firmino?

Sakho and Alli since they're banned. Atleast the others can get minutes.

Haha! Any other options apart from Sanchez, Ozil, Payet and Lanzini?

Fabregas has been starting consistently. Not ideal but not a bad shout.

A bit stumped by this week! 70 points ahead in ML 0.2itb 0ft:

          DDG

          Bellerin - Toby A - PVA - Lovren

          Antonio - Sanchez (c) - Payet

          Martial - Aguero - Kane

          (Schmeichel - Coutihno - Simpson - Alli)

What sticks out as main weak point \ player I'm missing?

Got bb left and planning to play it next week.

Tempted by Martial to Carroll this week but Martial looked sharp against Everton and is DGW. Any advice appreciated!!! 🙂

70 points ahead you need do nothing.

Mind you, you have hits to burn. So wait til next week and get rid of Alli who won't play. Chelsea punt on a bench boost in a dgw is fine surely. Maybe after this weekend you'll be keen to drop Aguero or Kane to free up funds too.

Just did Alli to Townsend to strengthen my starting 11. You're right about Kane and Kun, another week's insight will be valuable I hadn't considered them. Funny noone says Martial out but he might be overlooked as a DGW asset

Fair enough. I'd grab your options in a flash. Good moves.

I agree on Martial, and I also think they absolutely have pride/lge place/LVG's reputation to play for.
