The Numbers Game – 2015/16 Review – Watford

Up next in our series of members articles, which assess the statistics behind the 2015/16 season, is Watford.

We start off by looking at the Hornets’ team data in Quique Sanchez Flores’ solitary campaign at the helm and compare them to the rest of Premier League. After that, we analyse their first-team squad, main goal threats and creative sources in an attempt to gain insight on their prospects for the season ahead.

Tipped for the drop by many last time out, the Hornets were quick out the traps and racked up eight wins and five draws in the first 18 Gameweeks. Although Flores’ side failed to maintain momentum over the rest of the season and managed just four victories and as many draws in the final 20 matches, they were never in danger of relegation and ended in thirteenth spot, eight points clear of the bottom three.

      I'd be tempted to drop Kane for cheaper to upgrade defence. Didn't start well last season and there's some stat about him not scoring when Dembele isn't playing (banned for a few).

    Anyone looked at bargain basement defensive rotations?

    I like the look of a Souare/Friend/Taylor/Evans/Wasi (GW 1 only) rotation for the first 5 weeks which gives:

        Wasi likely to start GW 1 - that's all I potentially need him for, as an alternative can play a swan defender GW1 against bur instead

        Can switch Taylor to another swan defender if needed.

      Both great picks.

      I'd be more worried about Byram. If he looks like he'll start, I'll have him myself, but there is a lot of uncertainty there.

      Personally I'd swap out KDB and Townsend for a £9.5 and Ayew/Tadic, but this is just personal preference. I'm assuming you have KDB in there because you really want him and that's fine.

    Anyone know much about the status of Enner Valencia? There were loads of rumours about him joining Swansea just over a week ago. Things seem to have quietened now though.

      Balanced could be golden. Don't get Stones in the real world or for fpl ( might even apply at city) but that's an imo. Like the two mid prices forward and midfield looks great. Think I will go with this structure of not personnel.

      Save .5 with your keepers
      Daniels and Dann too much at 5 swap to Francis if you want BOU save 1.5
      IMO defence needs a Chelsea, Spurs or Man U
      Mid is excellent but leave you light up top use 1.5 saved to up grade one forward
