The Stock Check – Gameweek 6 – Monday

A typically disciplined Burnley performance nullifies Watford’s recent attacking verve and earns a precious three points at Turf Moor. Here’s the Stock Check after Monday brought the curtain down on Gameweek 6.

On the Rise

Tom Heaton
A second clean sheet of the season promoted Heaton back to the top of the FPL keeper rankings on 27 points.

Priced at 4.6, Heaton goes on confirming his value in well-drilled Burnley defence that, at Turf Moor at least, should go on generating shut-outs.

Michael Keane
Arriving in the Premier League with a reputation as a threat from set-pieces, tonight Keane delivered his first Premier League strike.

Five goals during Burnley’s promotion season flagged up his goal threat and saw him claim a 5.0 initial price in the FPL. While that has since fallen to 4.9, we’ll need to see more from Keane to warrant that outlay with Heaton an option in goal.

Steven Defour
If we ever go knocking for a Burnley midfield with 6.0 to spend then Defour will be our go-to option.

Clearly a class act, the Belgian has registered three assists a goal and six bonus points in his Burnley tenure so far. He is, however, still to complete 90 minutes.

In Decline

Jose Holebas
We were grateful to see him fit to claim his starting role at left wing-back but this was not an enjoyable evening for the Greek.

Pinned back in the first-half by a determined Clarets, Holebas was forced into a traditional left-back role with Walter Mazzarri’s tactical changes as the Hornets chased the game.

More significantly, he earned a fourth booking of the season and is now just a single yellow away from a one-match suspension. After suffering defeat in the EFL Cup, they also don’t have the option of allowing him to absorb any suspension outside of Premier League action.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

best going forward: lallana, walcott, or antonio?

    Foster (Jaku)
    Valencia, Williams, VVD (McAuley, Amat)
    Sanchez, Hazard, Antonio, Redmond, Capoue
    Aguero, Lukaku (Gray)
    1FT, 0m

Should I be considering a WC over the international break or will taking a hit this week fix it up alright?

I'm thinking of downgrading VVD or Redmond to free up funds to upgrade a midfielder or Gray.

Alternatively, Hazard to the likes of Mane, Son etc would allow me to upgrade Gray or Redmond.

I've coome up with these two drafts for my wildcard

    A)

    Foster / Pickford

    Koscielny / Browning / Lovren / Williams / Amat

    Sánchez / Sterling / Fletcher / Mané / Firmino

    Agüero / Rashford / Defoe

    B)

    Foster / Pickford

    Williams/ Stones / Lovren / Love / Amat

    Sánchez / Mané / Fletcher / Sterling / Lallana

    Agüero / Rashford / Lukaku

What would you go for? Any critiques?

I'm leaning towards B at the moment however I really do to want to have both Mane and Firmino

    Foster / Pickford

    Williams/ Stones / Lovren / Brown / Amat

    Sánchez / Mané / Fletcher / Firmino / ******

    Agüero / Rashford / Lukaku

^This would be my hybrid of both squads but not many 7.3 or lower take my fancy. If I had 7.5 then I’d be interested in Walcott/Son however. Annoying.

I like B however I'd be worried about that defence

      Mane >> Coutinho
      Love >> 4.5

Just get Antonio (or don't get rid of him). Still bags of potential for points there. Other options are Arnie (good fixtures after United), Siggy, Townsend, Chadli, Iwobi, or fletcher to Carrick and then Mata/Willian. Antonio is the percentage play though. I personally would do Arnautovic.

Burnley looked good last time in the premier league too. They just have trouble scoring enough. Tonight it all came together though. I'd like them to stay up. Dyche is a really easy manager to like.

Wow, so many AoA played to accommodate Capow.

I'm definitely keeping it to play it in and around the 2nd WC when the TV is up at 107 etc.

Someone like Arnautovic in GW33 (HULL) when you could have some at that price point for 5th mid for a week or two while prepping for a big 15 DGWer bench boost.

I'm honestly considering Gray to Rashford instead of Deeney.
Really think United will put past a few at home to Stoke which is scary since I don't have Ibra.

Will need to take a hit to free up some funds though. I'm considering:

    A) VVD to 4.5m defender (Holebas?)
    B) Redmond to 5.5m defender or less
    C) Hazard to Mane/Lallana/Son

Very true, although if Rashford does score a couple I will probably hold despite the fixtures.
It's just >50% ownership that scares me. I'm very happy with my rank now but it'll come tumbling down if Ibra goes bang. My thinking is that if United score a lot, Rashford will be amongst it too (hopefully) to reduce the impact.

You're though, it might be too short term.

I thought Rashford was poor enough. Snatched at the Zlatan pass after a poor first touch.
It looks to me that he's not that comfortable in that wide position, he's still a bit of a kid looking to Zlatan to give him a clap after he does something good or bad. Simple tap in goal after Leicester switched off.
          Won't play 90, Zlatan will.

Be scared if you don't have Zlatan captain, be very scared.

Still over 30 GWs to go so I wouldn't worry about differentials. Just pick players who you think will score most as 30 GWs is plenty of time.

How did Janssen play against 'boro? Looking for a captain differential at the weekend and think Spurs will do well against City.

Too early for (c) differentials. Go with Aguero, Zlatan, Lukaku, Sanchez, LFC mid .. I'm sure you have one of those to chose from.

Doesn't get into goalscoring positions enough but his hold up is excellent, especially for the first goal. Always looking to play someone in rather than find the space for himself

Main reason I'm not captaining him, away to Burnley isn't so easy. They've only conceded one home goal so far.

Very cheap, assumed he was 6.5 like the rest of them. Once those few tough fixtures over he going to
be a great option. Seem to have a vague memory of him making a really fast start the last timeround, only
        to badly fade after xmas.
Is that right or is my memory playing tricks?

Was considering it as a 1 week switch as I have KDB injured but don't like a punt for 1 week only with Utd having Pool & Chelsea next 2

False. Mata returns 14% of the time against top 5 sides, ~30% of the time against 6-20 ranked teams.
