The Weekend Team News

Olivier Giroud is still sidelined for Arsenal’s trip to Turf Moor. Joe Allen is a slight doubt as Stoke head to Old Trafford, whilst Romelu Lukaku will start for Everton tonight despite being hampered by an ongoing toe complaint.

Olivier Giroud has been ruled out of Arsenal’s trip to Burnley by Arsene Wenger earlier this morning. The Gunners boss revealed that Francis Coquelin has recovered quicker than expected from a knee problem and is set to be assessed, though will almost certainly miss out at Turf Moor.

Tony Pulis has conceded that Chris Brunt won’t be considered for West Brom’s trip to Sunderland despite stepping up his fitness with a run out for the reserves earlier in the week.

Joe Allen is rated a slight doubt for Stoke’s trip to United due to a hamstring problem. Mark Hughes has also confirmed that Jack Butland will remain sidelined for at least another month with an ankle injury.

Fabio and James Husband are set to feature for Middlesbrough’s reserves tonight as they step up their fitness following recent injuries. Grant Leadbitter remains sidelined for the trip to West Ham.

Divock Origi is a slight doubt for Liverpool’s trip to Swansea after sustaining a minor foot problem.

Romelu Lukaku will start at home to Palace this evening, though Ronald Koeman has conceded the striker’s toe problem is “still painful”. The Dutchman has revealed it is “too risky” to start Leighton Baines as he continues to recover from a hamstring injury. Darron Gibson and James McCarthy remain sidelined after both underwent minor groin surgery.

Wilfried Zaha has recovered from a hamstring issue in time for Palace’s trip to Goodison tonight, though Scott Dann is still unavailable due to a similar complaint. Jonathan Benteke is out for three-to-four months with a knee injury.

Josh King is back in light training and has a chance of returning for Bournemouth’s clash with Watford, though Marc Pugh remains on the sidelines, Eddie Howe has confirmed.

Havard Nordtveit will be assessed ahead of West Ham’s home clash with Middlesbrough. Slaven Bilic also conceded he has “a couple of players doubtful”, though he is hopeful that Aaron Cresswell will return after the international break. Andre Ayew remains at least three-to-four weeks away from being available.

All this and more has now been updated in the Team News section ahead of tonight’s 7pm deadline. Keep an eye on our official Twitter Stream for breaking news – as the day unfolds, we will issue updates from Friday’s press conferences and refresh our Team News tab accordingly to keep you informed.

    Heaton
    Valencia Williams Evans
    Sanchez Sterling Antonio Capoue Snodgrass
    Aguero Ibra

Snoddy --> Lallana the obvious choice here?
    Any suggestions welcome.

keep Snodgrass, fixtures start looking nice and he is very good value at a tough price point.

I understand bringing in lallana but snodgrass does have cracking fixtures after Chelsea, so he's quite a long term budget option id say. Depends if you're willing to change any other mids.

There's always Antonio > firmino or coutinho I suppose

Thanks both, I've seen a fair amount of selling Antonio, any particular reason?

Would you say you'd rather keep Snoddy over Antonio?

People are afraid that due to Hammers conceding so many they'll try and shore up, and also revert to playing him at right back, diminishing his goal chances.

Hi. Should I ditch Baines today?

    Pickford
    Holebas, Lovren, Koscielny
    Sanchez, Sterling, Firmino, Capoeu
    Kun, Lukaku, Deeney

    Jaku, Snodgrass, Amat, Baines
    1FT, 0 ITB

And if I should ditch him what to do?
    A) Baines -> Coleman
    B) Baines -> cheaper to collect some cash for the future

Would really appreciate some feedback here; defence is a mess.

    Masuaku--Baines--McAuley---Amat--BSmith

Smith doesn't play so I'm down to four. Masuaku/Baines out so I'm down to two. Amat is Amat so I'm down to one and half.

    A) Masuaku and Baines to Lovren and Holebas (-4)
    B) Masuaku and Baines to Clyne and Holebas (-4)
    C) Masuaku to Holebas and play Amat (no hit)

Defence is a mess - Collins to Smith or Shaw/ Baines to Clyne with one FT? If the latter, which one would you take out? I'll probably play AOA anyway with McAuley but can see a big fat 0 for Amat. Cheers.

It'll be Firmino. Rarely does the same player in a team like Arsenal or Liverpool have a points streak for several weeks - they tend to be shared around

People saying Burnley is very good at Home, but it's Arsenal. Arsenal is very good in creating spaces in tight defence, so I doubt if Burnley can stop gunners from scoring big.

Like last year maybe? Or the time before that?

To save you looking it up, Arsenal scored 1 goal at Turf Moor in 2015, the last time Burnley were in the PL. And 1 goal in 2009, the previous time they met in the PL. The last time Arsenal scored more than two up there was in 1975.

Freak results? Well, Burnley conceded an average of 1.1 goals per game at Turf Moor in their last PL season. They kept clean sheets against both Manchester clubs and Spurs. They have conceded twice in 4 home games so far this season including a CS against Liverpool (who have steamrollered everyone else). And it has been 10 months since they conceded more than once at home.

The alternative theory to this being a long set of freak results is that Burnley are just extremely well organised and resolute at Turf Moor, playing in front of fans that enjoy seeing a player "put their foot in". I prefer the alternative theory myself. 😕

They managed to stop Pool who also have many flight-footed players who can find gaps. I'm really in a dilemna as I need to tke a hit to get Sanchez in, and am really not sure if Arsenal can put more than 2 past Burnley. Burnley have conceded 5 goals in their last 17 home games I beleive

Just taken some hits to bring in Sanchez and had to re-jig. The bench needs surgery, but happy with my starters now (although looking to swap out a bencher for McAuley after this week because of West Brom's fixtures):

      De Gea
      Monreal Walker McAuley
      Firmino Capoue Sanchez Bolasie
      Aguero Ibrahimovic Austin

      Bench: Jakupovic, Lee-Chung-young, Holgate, Amat
