The Stock Check – Gameweek 8 – Monday

A dour Anfield affair offered scant reward for Fantasy Football managers as defences came out on top.

That added up to another ineffective evening for Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who played his part in a guarded United performance, resulting in another blank with inevitable Fantasy Premier League sales to follow.

Here’s the final Stock Check of Gameweek 8…

On the Rise

Nathaniel Clyne
Owned by less than 9% of Fantasy Premier League managers, the Liverpool right-back shook off a knee problem to start and play his part in a first clean sheet of the season for the Reds. Clyne claimed the maximum bonus points on offer after winning all four of his attempted tackles.

Priced at 5.5, his stock is somewhat limited by his price point which, in the current landscape, presents a significant obstacle. Dejan Lovren, at 4.9, remains our preferred route into Jurgen Klopp’s rearguard.

With West Brom, Crystal Palace and Watford up next, further defensive returns for Clyne and Lovren could be on the horizon.

David de Gea
A world class save from Philippe Coutinho’s long-range effort kept the scoreline at 0-0 and helped De Gea to only his third save point of the season.

The Spaniard also edged a bonus point as United won their third clean sheet of the campaign – their first since Gameweek 3 as the Spaniard’s 40% ownership fetched belated returns.

Jose Mourinho’s rearguard takes on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in Gameweek 9, followed by an Old Trafford meeting with Burnley and a trip to Swansea City.

In Decline

Zlatan Ibrahimovic
Almost inevitably, Ibrahimovic suffers a further blow as he blanked for the third Gamweek in four and picked up a second successive yellow card.

That’s now just four points in four Gameweeks, during which time his price has dropped from 11.9 to 11.4, with more than 620,000 showing him the exit.

The Swede will dominate the transfers out column again heading into Gameweek 9, with Diego Costa and Romelu Lukaku the major benefactors of the continued fall-out.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Got to be defence. Look to upgrade Collins.

Coleman looks primed now. Or Clyne.

West Ham fan here (If you couldn't tell from my name). Time to get rid of Antonio IMO as he'll be deployed at RB.

Although having said that Collins is dead wood and I think Bilic will settle for the team played against Palace, he might get sporadic starts but will you take that risk to play him.

You have a strong attack so strengthen up the defence. Collins to 5.5 defender, there's plenty of them.

Some are saying h will switch formation and play Antonio as a true winger. However after keeping their first clean sheet and a mipuch needed win I think that seems unlikely

      Collins > Rose?

Fuchs are gonna drop and is a good option at 5.3 during better fixtures ahead. I am gonna go for him!

    Morning folk

    Pickford
    Valencia, Kosc, Pieters
    Firmino, Mane, Sterling, Walcott
    Aguero, Benteke, Lukaku

    Foster, Amat, Capoue, Collins.......0.0ITB & 2FTs

Collins looks the weak link here correct? Thinking him to Holebas is the obvious transfer.

Would you use the 2nd FT to do anything? Get rid of Tekkers to Austin/Wilson perhaps? Or save the FT?

A nice team, you're probably right about Collins. Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't Holebas close to a suspension yellow cards wise? Only reason I haven't jumped aboard.

Also on Benteke, I'm probably gonna give him this week and decide, but Wilson is tempting me and bar a Tekkers brace, I'll probably transfer him in after the Tottenham game.

Yeah Holebas is on 4 yellows. I think me defence is strong enough to handle him being out for a game though. I just hope that game isn't Hull at home...

    Team for GW9
    Pickford
    Williams Vertohgen Pieters
    Firmino Sterling Sanchez(c) Walcott
    Wilson Aguero Lukaku
    Bench: foster, amat, mcauley,Fletcher

1)Should I play pieters or amat? Amat is playing at home but swansea's defence is really a mess. Stoke aint much better but at least they finally earned the first cs of the season.

    2) Captain choice? Aguero looked completely lost and I was so bitter I captained Sanchez instead of Walcott this gameweek. Would captaining walcott be too much a risk?

Anyone else had awful luck with captains this season?

    GW1 = 18 Points (Aguero) - SUN
GW2 = 2 Points (Wijnaldum) - bur - Ok, this one was my mistake
    GW3 = 4 Points (Aguero) - WHU
GW4 = 4 Points (Negredo) - CRY - Ok, again my mistake, maybe?
    GW5 = 4 Points (Hazard) - LIV - Hindsight, maybe a mistake.
GW6 = 4 Points (Ibrahimovic) - LEI - Oh come on, 4 goals and not involved in one?!?
GW7 = 2 Points (Ibrahimovic) - STK - United, what you playing at?
GW8 = -2 Points (Aguero) - EVE - You know what, I even wanted him to come off the bench for the point as Son was my VC.

I'm toying between Walcott and Aguero this week but the Saints defense has been too strong this season so leaning towards Walcott. Either way, stay clear of whoever I captain.

Bottomed, sorry for repost but I'm really stuck!

I need some advice guys. Basically I've got 2 options this week, don't want to take a hit to do both.

    A) Courtois >>> Cech, and play Capoue this week.

    B) Redmond >>> Son/Sterling/Liverpool mid (any help deciding which would be awesome!), meaning that I keep Courtois for the United game.

Front 8 looks like this at present -
    Redmond, Capoue, Ozil, Walcott, Antonio
    Deeney, Lukaku, Aguero

    Thanks!

Soton playing City this week I'll probably give it a week. Guardiola would want to cut out all the goals leaking and start keeping clean sheets. Burnley's a terrible team on the road hence no surprising they conceded so many after the first one went in. How much have you got left ITB?

Not too scared. They didn't get much of a chance too because of the way United were set up. Lallana not starting didn't help but that wasn't tactical - probably a precaution due to his return from injury.
