The Stock Check – Gameweek 8 – Monday

A dour Anfield affair offered scant reward for Fantasy Football managers as defences came out on top.

That added up to another ineffective evening for Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who played his part in a guarded United performance, resulting in another blank with inevitable Fantasy Premier League sales to follow.

Here’s the final Stock Check of Gameweek 8…

On the Rise

Nathaniel Clyne
Owned by less than 9% of Fantasy Premier League managers, the Liverpool right-back shook off a knee problem to start and play his part in a first clean sheet of the season for the Reds. Clyne claimed the maximum bonus points on offer after winning all four of his attempted tackles.

Priced at 5.5, his stock is somewhat limited by his price point which, in the current landscape, presents a significant obstacle. Dejan Lovren, at 4.9, remains our preferred route into Jurgen Klopp’s rearguard.

With West Brom, Crystal Palace and Watford up next, further defensive returns for Clyne and Lovren could be on the horizon.

David de Gea
A world class save from Philippe Coutinho’s long-range effort kept the scoreline at 0-0 and helped De Gea to only his third save point of the season.

The Spaniard also edged a bonus point as United won their third clean sheet of the campaign – their first since Gameweek 3 as the Spaniard’s 40% ownership fetched belated returns.

Jose Mourinho’s rearguard takes on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in Gameweek 9, followed by an Old Trafford meeting with Burnley and a trip to Swansea City.

In Decline

Zlatan Ibrahimovic
Almost inevitably, Ibrahimovic suffers a further blow as he blanked for the third Gamweek in four and picked up a second successive yellow card.

That’s now just four points in four Gameweeks, during which time his price has dropped from 11.9 to 11.4, with more than 620,000 showing him the exit.

The Swede will dominate the transfers out column again heading into Gameweek 9, with Diego Costa and Romelu Lukaku the major benefactors of the continued fall-out.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Not looking at Stoke's player? Arnatouvic/Shaqiri/Allen?

I know peple talking about Liverpool's good fixture. But West Brom is pretty tough nut even if they are playing at home and Crystal Palace away is not really the best.

Spurs' fixtures are not the easiest as well. And with Kane close to full fitness, remain to be seen how his effect on Son.

I would say either go Siggy or Arnatouvic/Allen/Shaqiri

What to do here fine folk?

    Heaton (Pickford)
    Coleman, Holebas, Mustafi (Kelly, Kingsley)
    Sanchez, Firmino, Payet, Snodgrass (Fletcher)
    Aguero (c), Lukaku, Rashford

    0 in bank. 1 FT.

I have the worst bench in the world and probably need to fix that.

    A. Save Ft until next week. Good to go.
    B. Kelly to Pieters.
    C. Rashford to Wilson.

    Thanks.

I really want Arnie for week 10 onwards, but will probably bomb Payet for him given his fixture turn soon after.

Wouldn't worry too much about your bench here, buddy. I operate a similar "crud bench" strategy with the proviso that your money should be on the pitch! And if someone is injured you use your FT to deal with it. Hate benching headaches - they always go wrong 🙂

Erm, I'd save here buddy. Nothing pressing

I'm not sure what to do about Rashford. He wasn't all that last night, but Utd didn't do a lot anyway. I can see the same against Chelsea this week but then he's got BUR, swa coming up after that. What do you think, keep or get rid?

I'm in a similar spot with Ibra, tempting to hold for Burnely and Swansea. To be honest, if you have Aguero + Lukaku I don't like the other striker options that much anyway at the moment. Austin, Costa poor fixtures

If I can spare the transfer and don't keep Rashford I might even swap Ibra in for Aguero for a one week punt. There's goals in that Burnley game I'm sure. Probably won't though cause that's a bit bonkers.

Same problem above. Hovering over Wilson switch like a busy bee.

Must wait until Friday at least. Can stomach a 0.1 rise for him. See how rashford looks or even if he plays on Thursday. He doesn't look like he's getting dropped but he's wasted right wing.

How poor was that match last night?

Mourinho was seven games into his first season with the most expensive team ever put together in the history of football and 6 points off the lead and he goes to play a team that hasn't kept a clean sheet all year and yet he plays shíte, cowardly anti-football.

Couldn't agree more. Miserable tactics but he did manage to keep the crowd quiet and grind out what was a good point in the end. Two sides looked very average. Champions league at best.

Agreed, Klopp strangely seemed shocked by Mourinho playing the usual gutter tactics that he's played every time he plays a decent team.

On point. I don't think Klopp expected Mourinho to play like that which is why Liverpool looked so ineffective in the first half.

Mou learnt his lesson from City game earlier in the season. Liverpool did not dictate the match. For long periods, they seemed to be the visitors. Movement was poor and they probably lack the energy that Lallana provides.

Not sure what to do about Antonio.

I removed Capoue for Allen already.

Antonio is dropping again it seems - is stomaching a 0.2, purely because he has SUN at home, ok?

Or, as Triggerlips says, should I just get rid of him now? I can bring in Lallana for him to get the 'pool double up.

    XI is:
    Pickford
    Mustafi Pieters Walker
    Antonio Allen San(c)hez Firmino
    Costa Kun Kaku
Only 0.3 itb so I can't do Antonio to Walcott without taking a -8. which I will never do!

Thanks! Really not sure, instinct is to save and play for SUN, but interested to see what you guys reckon 🙂

If Costa gets a yellow this weekend he's fine because he serves his suspension in the league cup. I suspect he will manufacture a way to get himself one, because everyone knows he's one away (cf newspaper articles on him from today hehe)

Holebas is the one to watch - no league cup, so if he gets a yellow he's out of the next match..

  19. AndyCook

I need a defensive switch up - I have Shaw and Baines that need to both potentially go and looking at one of the following:

      a) Mustafi and Cedric
      b) Mustafi and Smith
      c) Blind/Valencia and Van Dijk

      Team is:
      Foster/Pickford
      Holebas/Baines/Walker/Amat/Shaw
      Son/Walcott/Sanchez/Sterling/Coutinho
      Aguero/Diomande/Deeney

I know Southampton fixtures are bad but they come good in 6 or so weeks and Holebas can deputise until then (which is why Cedrics injury does not concern me). Any help?

Antonio will likely drop 0.2, is it worth keeping him with his current form even with a good fixture?

Together they might be. The first one alone is far from being a solid move.

The first one could go either way. I'd like to save my FT but don't want to lose value on Antonio.

      Why all the Lallana love?

as much as coutinho/mane/firmino are important to Liverpool, Lallana's energy and pressing is what drives the team forward. Pool was much better after he came on last night.

          This. ^

And for the same reason I reckon that Sturridge will move in the January window. Quality striker, but doesn't suit their system.

      A. Ibra + Snodgrass + Evans (current team)
      B. Austin + Firmino + Bellerin (requires 3 transfers, 2 this week, 1 next, or a -4)
      C. Austin + KDB + Evans (requires 2 transfers this week)

      Heaton, Pickford
      ___, Valenica, Williams, Holebas, Amat
      ___, Mane, Sterling, Walcott, Capoue
      Aguero, Lukaku, ___

      Sterling to Wally for free???????
I have got Sanchez, and will change to KDB once Arsenal fixtures stiffen up, so am hoping of a midfield of: KDB Firmino Walcott Lallana Allen in a couple of weeks.

He'd be my 5th mid. Alternating with either Benteke or Austin.

Is there a way to see what percentage of those in the top 10k have used the TC or BB chip?

Southampton will play Inter away on Thursday night. Has Austin usual feature in European games?
