Paddy Says

Paddy Says – Gameweek 14

It’s that time on a Saturday morning when we dunk Paddy’s sweet biscuit of odds into the steaming beverage of Anytime Goalscorer and Clean Sheet prices.

But before we dissect the various ways in which that particular cookie might end up crumbling, let’s savour the flavour of the latest enhanced offers available for new customers opening a Paddy Power account.

Gameweek 14 is cutting straight to the chase by holding the match of the weekend at 12.30 today. Man City host Chelsea and if you think Pep will prevail, you can get 6-1 on a home win. But Conte’s boys have won seven on the spin, so if you’re after eight then Paddy has absolutely mint odds of 12-1 on a Chelsea victory.

Arsenal and November get on like a dog and a postman, so Gooners everywhere will be thankful we’ve finally made it into December. Three points from a trip to West Ham this evening will seal the deal, and you can get 6-1 on them doing just that.

Even more generous are the odds on Man United winning at Goodison on Sunday – take advantage of the 7-1 available on that result here.

You can also get Spurs to beat Swansea at 4-1 as well as 5-1 on Liverpool beating Bournemouth.

And if accumulators are more your thing, there’s 16-1 on Leicester, Spurs and Arsenal all to win. The Foxes are away at Sunderland, to save you the bother of double checking.

Be sure to check the terms and conditions on all those offers and, of course, we should state that all these specials are only available to those aged 18 and over. If you’re going to wager, always gamble responsibly.

Harry Kane (1.61) won a bit of a landslide victory in our captaincy poll this week , scooping 37% of the vote on a platform of scoring against Swansea, opposing a third runway at Heathrow and greater acceptance of men with faces slightly longer than the average.

The Swans kept an away clean sheet in Gameweek 1 and… that’s it. Since returning from injury, Kane has three goals from three tough London derbies and Swansea look ill-equipped to stop him continuing his fine form.

Three other main men in the captaincy vote,  Sergio Aguero, Alexis Sanchez and Charlie Austin, are all short-odd prospects as well, as is Stoke’s Wilfried Bony (1.83). This says more about the Potters’ visitors, Burnley, than Bony, who might not even start.

If you’re looking for someone to capitalise on a Clarets defence that’s conceded at least three goals in all but one of their away days this season, then the returning Joe Allen (3.00 and a 13.6%-owned Fantasy asset) looks a better bet.

Another dodgy defence belongs to Man City, so the 2.29 on Diego Costa to make it six goals from his last eight Chelsea starts is perhaps more generous than it should be. And a revitalised Pedro, who has netted three times in five matches, is a tempting 4.20 to score against a team with just one home shut-out this campaign.

Of the outliers, the 7.50 available on Emre Can scoring for Liverpool at Bournemouth could be worth a look. With the Reds’ midfield missing some key figures, the German has been afforded a more progressive role in which he has been firing in the same level of goal attempts as the likes of Eden Hazard in recent weeks.

CLEAN SHEET ODDS – GAMEWEEK

West Brom2.50
Man United2.62
Arsenal2.62

A brief glimpse at the most popular Fantasy Premier League transfers of the week reveals Gareth McAuley at number five, with 93,000+ new owners. The West Brom centre half has two goals from his last five starts, which is double the number of clean sheets his team has managed.

But there’s clearly a lot of managers expecting another shut-out at home to Watford today, and Paddy’s 2.50 seems a reasonable price, particularly as the Hornets have scored just twice in their last four road trips.

Liverpool defenders Nathaniel Clyne and Dejan Lovren have also been popular this Gameweek as the Reds go for a third consecutive league clean sheet away at Bournemouth. You can get 2.80 on that, although the Cherries have only blanked once at home all season in a goalless match with Spurs.

Leicester’s record on the road has been poor thus far – both of their clean sheets have come at the King Power – so the 3.00 being offered by Paddy on them shutting down Sunderland looks rather short. The improving Black Cats are at 4.00 to frustrate the Foxes, and that looks the more appealing price.

    Friday night FPL-related dream no.3:

You can choose an event like "starts counter attack, hits bar" for one of your players. If it happens you get 4 pts. It's limited to one play a week.

In the dream, I was arguing with my dad over whether or not Hazard or Siggy was more likely to hit the beans on toast, at this point I was washing up a huge frying pan.

    What does it mean?

Can't help but feel this will be one of the biggest moments of the season having Kane(c).

Not very often is a big hitter going to have such low ownership with such a good fixture.

It's almost too good to be true and ultimately doomed to failure 🙂
