Dugout Discussion

Dugout Discussion – West Ham vs Man United

A hectic afternoon with points aplenty will hopefully continue with the tea-time kick-off at the London Stadium.

With Sergio Aguero emerging from the bench to return a goal and potential bonus points at the Etihad, our attention now switches to the red side of Manchester and their own talismanic goalscorer – Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Heavily backed by FPL managers once again, the Swede takes on the Hammers with 24.1% of the Gameweek 20 armbands strapped to his bicep.

Elsewhere, Jose Mourinho recalls Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo at centre-back as two of five changes to his line-up; Henrikh Mkhitaryan earns his second successive start.

For West Ham, Andy Carroll drops to the bench having started the last four Gameweeks. Mark Noble and Andre Ayew also drop out as Pedro Obiang, Manuel Lanzini and Sofiane Feghouli earn starts.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Also, can you advise Delle Alli for Mane as 1 FT.

      Forster (Pickford)
      Jones, Ake, Alonso (Pieters, Collins)
      Snodgrass, Hazard, Mane, Lallana, Chadli

Some interesting discussion on the last page on wildcarding, interested to here a few more views:

"What's the rationale against wildcarding at this stage FWIW?

I see it to be perfectly possible to wildcard in a good team now, and then as the DGWs become clearer, staging bringing in DGW players closer to the time. Realistically, we probably already have 4-5 DGW players, so it's just a question of planning 5-7 transfers in advance, which is perfectly reasonable."

guess so but cant be a ssed with all that planning 😆 would rather just try to muddle through and just use it team needs too much surgery

      1. Differentiator
        • 8 Years

Only stage in the good ones, of course. Not filling up any team with trash like Capoue just to get a couple of extra points!

      • Fantasy Football Scout Member

Wildcarding before DGWs has served me well previously. If you try and stagger it it can take a while to bring the players in that you want, and what with other players hitting form and injuries and so on, it is very difficult to get it right. If there is only one game left after the DGW it can be very profitable to save your WC til then.

Of course, if your team is cack, do it now.

    5. tisza
      • Fantasy Football Scout Member
      • 9 Years

advantage is you have a better chance of having the players you want starting the DGW with a WC.
Buying players 3-4 weeks ahead means you may have to carry them through some rubbish fixtures leading up to DGW.
Obviously risk of losing players to injury, suspension increases the further out you buy them.
Personally won't be necessarily filling the side with DGWers. Last year people were moving out Spurs & Leicester then weren't left with the funds or time to get them back in.

Idiots for getting rid of Rowett (who Swansea should have gone for IMO). They must think their squad is awesome - it isn't - it is utter rubbish. Have massively overperformed. Zola only gets jobs because he is Zola and well connected. He was rubbish at Watford (he couldn't get them up despite having the best squad in the Championship) and West Ham. Now he is screwing up Birmingham.

      Pickford (!) / Grant
      Alonso (?) / Chambers / Nyom (!) / Amat (!) / Kingsley (!)
      Sanchez / Hazard / Sterling / Siggurdson / Zaha (!)
      Ibra / Costa / Negredo

      1FT 0.5 ITB

Pull the trigger on that WC, yay or nay?

(If Alonso injury is serious would struggle to field 11)

I think it's time. Keep hold of Alonso, but the rest + Negredo could be better

I still wouldn't for that. Close but a few transfers this week and next can sort you out.

Drew against this dead team in the cup with 28 points on the bench. He has Lamela and Coutinho in his starting lineup too this could end tragically :O

Ibra owners without kun....do you feel we got away with it today?

Aguero looked v dangerous when he came on & i thought he would get more, so got lucky pep was a douche & didnt start him.
Also ibra was sluggish & that goal came a bit out of nowhere

Not worried at all. Aguero was against the worst away defence in the league and is 13m. Id expect him to look dangerous

His goals always come out of nowhere + nowhere near as injury prone + no CL

Score draw. Aguero uses up a lot of cash - is it worth it - not IMO.
