The Weekend Team News

Olivier Giroud is back in training as Arsene Wenger confirms that Arsenal have no injuries from last week’s win at Swansea. Robert Snodgrass is a worry for Hull ahead of their trip to Chelsea, while Leighton Baines is also a minor doubt as Everton roll up to Palace.

Arsene Wenger has revealed that Arsenal have no injuries from the squad that faced Swansea last weekend. The Gunners boss also stated that Hector Bellerin, Francis Coquelin and Kieran Gibbs “should be available” for selection at home to Burnley, though Theo Walcott misses out again.

Winston Reid, Sofiane Feghouli, Sam Byram and Andy Carroll are all minor doubts for West Ham’s trip to Middlesbrough, with Slaven Bilic “very optimistic” that all four will be available at the Riverside.

Robert Snodgrass is a slight doubt for Hull’s trip to Chelsea with a muscle problem. David Meyler is set to return to training today and is likely to be available.

Ronald Koeman has revealed that Leighton Baines is “struggling a bit” with a rib problem but expects the defender to be fit in time to face Palace. Maarten Stekelenburg – who was on the bench last weekend – is now 100% fit, according to his manager.

Virgil van Dijk and Ryan Bertrand have recovered from the knocks that forced them to miss Southampton’s midweek cup clash with Norwich. Steven Davis remains on the sidelines, though, as Claude Puel’s welcome Leicester to St Mary’s.

Jan Vertonghen has been ruled out for around six weeks with the ankle injury that forced him off against West Brom last weekend. Mauricio Pochettino also revealed that Erik Lamela is set for further scans on a hip injury that leaves the club uncertain as to when he will return.

Antonio Barragan and Gaston Ramirez remain unavailable for Middlesbrough’s clash with West Ham. The Teesside team have new boy Patrick Bamford in contention after he was snapped up from Chelsea in midweek.

Mark Hughes has revealed that Bojan is back in contention for Stoke’s clash with United after recovering from a hip problem. The Potters manager has no new injury concerns ahead of the bet365 encounter.

West Brom will make a late assessment on Jonny Evans’ ongoing calf problem, while Tony Pulis has conceded they are still waiting to hear if Allan Nyom is cleared to play after withdrawing from the Africa Cup of Nations.

Paul Clement has confirmed that recent additions Martin Olsson and Tom Carroll will feature at Anfield, though fellow new boy Luciano Narsingh is doubtful with a calf complaint.

Heurelho Gomes remains a doubt for Watford’s trip to Bournemouth due to a back problem. Daryl Janmaat (groin) will be assessed, while Isaac Success and Nordin Amrabat remain sidelined.

Javier Manquillo has been ruled out of Sunderland’s trip to West Brom with a calf complaint. David Moyes expects Jack Rodwell to be available but is less optimistic on Victor Anichebe and Steven Pienaar’s chances of recovering in time.

Marc Wilson is sidelined for Bournemouth’s home match with Watford due to a hamstring problem. The Cherries are also without Simon Francis, who serves the last of a three-match suspension.

All this and more has now been updated in the Team News section ahead of tomorrow’s deadline. Keep an eye on our official Twitter Stream for breaking news – as the day unfolds, we will issue updates from Friday’s press conferences and refresh our Team News tab accordingly to keep you informed.

Wouldn't go Brunt and McAuley. Brunt & Friend better. I'd also look to get Baines in if possible.
Tom Davies for Everton (4.3) could be a good 5th Mid if playing 3,4,3 but think 3,5,2 would be better with Barnes or Crouch.

It's solid but I would just get Eriksen now. Injury or suspension could ruin your planned transfer and ideally you should be looking to save after WC. That also gives you the money to upgrade one of the West Brom defenders to a premium pick like Walker/Rose, Koscielny, Valencia or Baines/Coleman.

Ignoring stats completely, here's an alternative view on the captain pick for this week.

    Sanchez
Alexis has scored many goals playing centrally this season with many (from memory) utilising his pace in behind so perhaps the majority have been away from home. Home to Burnley, Giroud will start this one imo, and with Dyche parking the proverbial, it should allow Alexis more freedom to join Giroud in the middle. Without pens, he's still not a shoe in to score. Quite a few have said Burnley are hopeless away from home, but check their last 6 matches - they've conceded no more than 1 goal away to West Ham, Spurs, and Man City. I always look for a weak gk/df and in Heaton, they have a great shot stopper plus an excellent defensive minded coach in Dyche.

    Hazard
A little lazy. Will score then ride out the game with nice touches and dribbles never really looking threatening. For this reason, I think he's more motivated at home to score goals and impress his own fans. As a Hazard owner, I'm hoping Costa is back for this one as he's a physical threat and it should allow Hazard the freedom to strut his stuff. I expect Fabregas to be back in for this game too which should help Chelsea's possession. Even Hull playing with a little more confidence works in Chelsea's favour imo. I want to say that Hull have conceded the most penalties of any team in the Prem, but it's a stat, so I won't 😉 . My captain pick.

    Ibra
Sold for Aguero 2 weeks ago when I didn't think he'd play 3 games in a week vs West Ham. Miraculously, West Ham get a player sent off in less than 30 mins and Ibra is able to coast through the game and get that one chance he needs to score. The guy is so clinical at the moment. Always a good shout as a captain pick due to his consistency. Potential to struggle away to Stoke with Shawcross doing a number on him, we'll see.

    Liverpool mid
Honestly, anyone could bank the points vs Swansea; Coutinho, Lallana, Firmini, hell, it might even be Origi or Sturridge. Probably enough just to have a Liverpool mid and see how they further adapt without Mane, without risking the captain armband.

(Based on form and Man City's woeful lack of, captaining Kane, Alli or Eriksen may be the most sound decision of all.)

Crazy plan and I know selling Kane seems mental, but what do you think to:

    GW22: Kane to Costa FT
GW23: Hazard + Benteke to Alli + Lukaku 2 FTs

    Giving a front 7 of:
    Sanchez, Alli, Eriksen, Phillips
    Costa, Ibra, Lukaku

    Conte on Costa:
“He is available for the game against Hull City. He started training on Tuesday with the team. he trained very well, he has no pain in his back and is available.”
    Source: Sun

Can someone please confirm this from a more respectable source?

Yes, been watching the presser and that's what Conte has said. He hasn't confirmed whether he'll start against Hull though as he doesn't want "to give an advantage to our opponent”.

This week dilemma: Who to bench?

    Heaton (Pickford)
    Alonso, Baines, Brunt (Yoshida, Pieters)
    Sanchez, Alli*, Eriksen*, Lallana, Phillips
    Ibra, Defoe*, Giroud

Tossing between Alli, Eriksen and Defoe.
Eriksen - he just had 2 double digits hauls. time to put a stop on it. City a perfect occasion for 2 pointer
Alli - I am scared to bench him. could do Alli style K.O. like he did against Chelsea. I fancy him to drift behind that shaky City defence and score. (if he scores most likely the assist comes from Eriksen...damm)
Defoe - he is on 3 game goal streak (4 goals in last 3 games) again, statistically (like Eriksen) it is hard to continue picking up the attacking points like that. Also, I think WBA won't shift too many goals after that Spurs debacle. They will tighten the defence this time.

Btw: 1.8 ITB - planning on Defoe > Kaku next week. have exact funds
    Current position 38K

    Appreciate your opinion. Cheers

Anyone think there is a chance Haz misses out after Conte's comment?

'It's my task to pick the best players game by game. If someone stays out it's not punishment. It's a difficult decision.'

Not at the top of his game recently and Pedro and Willian playing very well. I'm an owner so hoping not!

not at the top of his game? have you watched him?you cant equate lack of massive fantasy returns for poor play. nearly every week on MOTD he's picked out as one of chelsea's star performers. I think he's playing bettter than when he won the PFA award

Have to admit I haven't watched any live games for a while. I regularly look at player ratings after games though and remember against Spurs it said he was largely annonymous and another against Leicester said he didn't get out of 3rd gear. Comforting to hear he is playing that well though so thanks for the response!

    I'm going with;

    Foster (Heaton)

    Baines - Rose - Brunt (Holgate/Mee)

    Alexis (vc) - Stanislas - Hazard (c) - Lallana - Phillips

    Ibra - Giroud (Barnes)

From what I can see hardly anyone going with Haz captain against an even weakened Hull side considering they lost Livermore yesterday. I know Arsenal have Burnley at home but I'm pretty sure my ML leader will go Alexis (c) and I need to try and close the gap somehow!? Alexis doesn't really stand out to me too much whilst Giroud plays up top.

    1 FT and 0M ITB.
Bad last week and lost ground in my mini leagues.

    Heaton (Pickford)

    Friend Chambers Smith McAuley Jones

    Sanchez Eriksen Lallana Moses Capoue

    Aguero Ibrahimovic Wilson

Last week i sold Antonio and Alonso to fund Eriksen (and Chambers).

All my defenders have good fixtures this week , save a transfer or take hits to fix my immediate problems of Moses and Aguero. Also need to get Pickford out but can't do w/out taking a hit.
