The Numbers Game – Liverpool’s Midfield

Lincoln City’s shock FA Cup win over Burnley has handed Fantasy managers an extra match to plan for ahead of Gameweek 28, with the Clarets’ visit to Liverpool now guaranteed.

One of only eight sides set to offer us a fixture in each of the next three Gameweeks, Jurgen Klopp’s men also face a favourable trip to Leicester City next Monday evening.

With the Alexis Sanchez exodus in full flow after Arsenal clinched a spot in the FA Cup quarter-finals on Monday night, thus depriving the Gunners of matches in Gameweek 26 and 28, we put the Merseysiders midfield options under the microscope.

First up, we’ll look at how Klopp’s attack is performing when compared with both the rest of the top-flight and their own season averages.

We then monitor the displays of their midfielders over each players’ respective last six matches, looking for signs of form at a time when many are turning to Sadio Mane on the back of his two-goal haul against Spurs last time out.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Looking at a few options for my 2 free transfers, any opinion on these or other options would be helpful!

    Currently have front 8 of
    Sanchez, Alli, Phillips, Stanislas, Capoue
    Ibra, Kane, Carroll

    A) Sanchez and Stanislas > Mane and Sigurdsson

    B) Sanchez and Ibra > Mane and Lukaku (with 4.7 in bank)

    C) Any other options?

like the look of A. Stanislas has to be sorted and would want to keep Ibra for gw27

I'd love to see a 23-stone man in goal... the ball would orbit around him.

Help please! 1 FT and 0.5 ItB...

    Heaton (Pickford*)
    Alonso / Coleman (V) / Brunt / Chambers / (Amat)
    Alli (C) / Sigurdson / Phillips / King (Sanchez)
    Benteke / Defoe (Ibrahimovic)

Suggestions on how to navigate the next 3 GWs. Was going to wait for 2FTs. Probably need rid of Benteke / Defoe / Alli / Phillips for Antonio / Firminio / Lukaku / Carroll...

    Ta!

Wouldn't captain Alli for starters. Maybe Sanchez to Mane, Benteke to Kaku for a hit? Then bench Chambers

    Valdes*
    Coleman Brunt Robertson Cedric*
    Mane Siggy Antonio Phillips
    Lukaku Barnes

    Ibra, Alli, Alonso, Pick

Would need hits for any further changes...should I?

    A Stanislas > Coutinho/Firmino

I’m sorry for asking... It’s absolutely certain that Arsenal will have blank gameweeks 26 and 28, right? No chance of any games, say Leicester (H), being moved to midweek next week, thus becoming gameweek 26?

Should I play Davies (3-5-2) or Robertson (4-4-2)?

I know that there is a saying that one should always play the attacker. But Robertson plays Burnley, so he has big CS possibility. And Davies could not even start.

On the other hand, if Davies starts, he can do some serious (and unexpected!) damage vs sunderland.

Only play the attacker when he's a decent prospect. Davies is a squad player and likely not to play so I agree Robertson is the better pick.

How's this for gw28? No hits needed to get this but leaves with needing 2 transfers to get Sanchez back. Worth it?

    Jaku
    Evans brunt Coleman lovren
    Mane firmino Phillips siggy
    Carroll lukaku

    Valdes ibra Ali/eriksen Alonso

They did well to dig themselves out, but scoring 5 goals at home and still not being certain of progressing to the next round isn't really that great. Could've been worse, but that match had the potential to go either way.

Trolly. Recent site studies seem to show he's not such a troll after all. I think it was just that brutal DGW fail last season that did for him, but lots of players have had two consecutive easy fails this season, Kane at home over Xmas for one.

Cheers guys. Troll it is. Might find a way for Siggy in there instead of a Liverpool mid

If they lose the replay against Huddersfield, yes.
