Tuesday Player Picks

Fixtures
Arsenal v Bayern
Napoli v Real Madrid

Manuel Neuer – Bayern – $5,000 – G
The Bayern keeper may be pricey pick but it’s fair to say that Arsenal will need to carry the match to their visitors following a chastening 5-1 first-leg loss at the Allianz Arena.

Such a scenario should, at least, produce save points for Neuer, who has a healthy 11.4 Fantasy Points Per Game (FPPG) over nine DraftKings outings. The weekend shutout against Koln in the Bundesliga makes it 17 clean sheets in 34 appearances this campaign.

Marcelo – Real Madrid – $4,900 – D
Over his last trio of La Liga appearances, the raiding right-back has delivered 29 crosses (worth 0.75 points each in DraftKings), a pair of assists and five attempts on goal, earning 15.3 FPPG.

Madrid have kept just a single clean sheet in the five league matches since facing Napoli, hinting that attacking returns need to be targeted if opting for a Real Madrid defender. Marcelo was rested for the 4-1 win at Eibar over the weekend so should be refreshed for the trip to the San Paolo.

Thiago Alcantara – Bayern – $5,600 – M
The Spaniard was the standout performer from Bayern’s first-leg rout, delivering two goals and an assist on his way to a 36-point haul.

This time around, it’s Thiago’s defensive contribution that has caught our eye – with Arsenal desperate to attack, we reckon his ball-winning abilities in the centre of the park will be key to launching Bayern’s quick counters. A total of 50 tackles (+ 1 point) and 81 interceptions (+0.5 points) is more than any team-mate in the Bundesliga this season.

DK1

Dries Mertens – Napoli – $7,500 – M/F
The Belgian fired both goals in a 2-1 victory over Roma at the weekend, underlining his importance to Napoli’s cause.

Mertens has produced 18 goals and seven assists across 24 Serie A appearances in a hugely impressive season and has also served up four goals and as many assists over the Champions League group stages.

If the Serie A side are to overturn a 3-1 deficit in front of their own supporters, Mertens’ contribution looks vital against a Madrid defence that’s shipped six goals in their last three matches.

Alexis Sanchez – Arsenal – $7,900 – M/F
Benched for the weekend loss at Liverpool, the Chilean will surely return to Arsene Wenger’s teamsheet as the Gunners attempt to claw back that four-goal deficit at home to Bayern.

Sanchez’ average of 15.5 FPPG is far and away the best on offer for the north London side – a total of 22 goal and 14 assists across all competitions indicates that, if Arsenal are to make any leeway tomorrow night, we can rely on Alexis.

Wednesday Player Picks

Fixtures
Dortmund v Benfica
Barcelona v Paris

Ederson Moraes – Benfica – $3,800 – G
We tipped the Brazilian in the opening encounter with Dortmund and he duly delivered – preserving a clean sheet to secure a 1-0 win and score 24 points (keepers in DraftKings benefit from a +5 point win bonus).

Benfica will be under pressure from kick-off in Germany and if Moraes repeats those first-leg endeavours (his five saves kept them in the tie), a budget price tag should represent value even in defeat.

Lukasz Piszczek – Dortmund – $4,400 – D
A goal and pair of assists in the recent 3-0 win over Wolfsburg is indicative of the left-back’s value for money.

Another assist in the following home match – a 6-2 victory over Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday – has further boosted Piszczek’s prospects ahead a home encounter with Benfica. Dortmund should be dominant against their Portuguese opponents, which should allow the Polish international leeway to raid forward.

If you can afford the extra outlay, his team-mate Raphael Guerreiro ($5,200) is worth considering, with an 11.8 FPPG over seven European matches. Playing out of position in midfield, he’s scored twice and provided a fifth assist of the season over his last three Bundesliga outings.

Ivan Rakitic – Barcelona – $5,700 – M
Barcelona have it all to do after suffering a 4-0 defeat in the first leg, with their front trio all likely to see heavy investment.

Rakitic, however, offers a budget route into an attack that will be going all out to claw back some respect at the very least. Although he’s yet to score in Europe this term, three goals in his last four La Liga starts suggests that the Croatian should comfortably better his 7.7 FPPG on Wednesday evening.

DK2

Ousmane Dembele – Dortmund – $7,700 – M/F
The Frenchman has provided attacking returns in four of his last five home league matches, which includes a goal and assist combination against both Wolfsburg and Bayer Leverkusen in Dortmund’s last two at the Signal Iduna Park.

A 12.1 FPPG in the Champions League, comprising of a goal and five assists over the group stages, showcases his potential. Saturday’s 6-2 victory over fellow Champions League competitors Leverkusen boosts Dortmund’s momentum as they look to overcome that one-goal reverse against Benfica.

Edison Cavani– Paris Saint Germain – $6,700 – F
Rather than put their fate in Barca’s hands, Umai Emery will be eager for his side to notch an away goal and put the tie beyond doubt.

Having already scored in the first-leg rout, Cavani’s record this season suggests that he could offer excellent value for money at the Nou Camp.

A weekend penalty against Nancy took his tally to 27 goals in 26 Ligue 1 appearances, while that consistency is echoed in the Champions League, with seven goals in as many matches.

I think managers that put out good numbers for GW28 will be rewarded. There is a bit of talk about teams canceling each other out but I'd prefer have a player with the chance of getting a haul than having a load of non players.

Yeah, I'm regretting my Ibra > Llorente move, as it scuppers an easy Ibra > Kane switch next week...will likely keep Llorente for a couple of weeks now, then ship for Gabbiadini

        Llorente v Carroll

With an Ibrahimovic ban looking pretty likely (and blanks for many other premium strikers) are others also looking at these two?

I was pretty set on Llorente (points in the current GW always help that!) but would then have no cover for the Bournemouth v West Ham game whereas I already hold Siggy (and Mawson as well as Robertson).

I get Carroll’s lack of long term appeal but as a 1 week punt (I know I’ll be shifting them for Kane after) it could pay off, where Bournemouth’s defence seems to be depleted more and more each week

I think Kane will be pretty "essential" going forward so relatively locked on getting him in (with no reason to drop the reliable Lukaku and Costa for the time being)

I think I need to do either of the two. Which one would you do?

            A) Sterling to one playing mid (possibly Antonio) as I have Siggy, Mane, Coutinho and Tarroll.
            B) Holgate to Coleman, as other defenders I have who are not playing are long term and will lose value if I sell now.

thought about that too as GW 29 for Valencia is MID(A). But taking a hit this GW from a non-playing player to a strong starter could pay off as well! Confused!

          Phillips-Mane-Morrison-Siggy (Eriksen)

Pool win and a Swansea win.
I think Swansea have way more quality and Hull will be going down despite their new managers best efforts, they just don't have the playing staff.

Field 11, set team for upcoming weeks, if someone gets injured/suspended in cup, replace them, not a bad week.

If I guess it wont be logic ;P

But imo there is no logic in using WC this week, especially if it's used to put out a full team for 28. Your side will be so butchered with no easy way to fix it for the doubles(wc). There's just not enough quality players playing 28 to make an 11 you'll be happy with going forward and I think the hits you'd take to repair it will be far more expensive than the points you'd gain in 28. So not logic for but logic against, i'd like to hear if you have a counter?

Nope no counter. I totally agree with you. Its just that a rival has 4 players for 28 and has said he is wildcarding this week. SMILEY FACE

No logic for WC but strong case for taking a few hits from players blanking to starters this GW.

SWA, WHM will have favorable fixtures for Next 3 GWs and LIV assets could be kept long term, if this form continues. That will allow some time to fix the team before using WC for the doubles.

I don't think it's such a bad idea. I am doing the same thing myself. Will have placeholders in my team for the likes of Sanchez and Alli with a view to fielding 9 this week.

Plenty of time to prepare for the monster that will be DGW37. Will react accordingly to other DGWs as and when.

I am in a minority, I know, but I think it will work out well.

this WC should be used one week before using the bench boost, in order to field 15 dgw players. If you're using it for anything else, you're playing it wrong.

I wouldn't WC this week, but I don't think you have to wait until right before GW37. You know who have DGWS so if you stock up on players from those teams, you could be ok.

I think you've hit the nail on the head. A wildcard isn't just for one week - regardless of a DGW. if used well, you can climb the ranks very quickly whilst everyone else has their heads full of DGW fever.

I played my first in GW7 and climbed into the top 10k from about 400k in a matter of about 4 weeks. I am optimistic I will do something similar playing it this week.

This fact is being overlooked on here. People are forgetting about all the extra points you can accumulate over the weeks subsequent to playing it. Plus I expect to have all of the key DGW players in GW37 anyway for the bench boost.

I’ve been wondering about the same. Think I’ve narrowed it down to Antonio or Lanzini since West Ham has better fixtures and is probably the better team. If you want to have one of the Bournemouth boys, I guess King would be slightly better.

If I take Lanzini instead of Antonio, I can get Sánchez straight into my team in gameweek 29. Are you planning to have Sánchez from then?

Lanzini has better stats but not sure whether he is nailed on or not and not planning to bring sanchez till gw 31.

Planning to bring kane from gw 29... but not sure whether its for aguero or diomande and switch it to 3-4-3.

              Current team:

              Heaton
              Brunt Baines Amat*
              Fletcher Firmino Siggy Phillips*
              Lukaku

              Alonso Pieters Sterling Kane Kun

Literally no idea what to do here, 1.5 ITB.

              Ideas around the following
              :
Phillips > Lanzini or Sterling > Coutinho (Can't afford Mane) or Aguero>Llorente (but I like the idea of keeping Kun)

Worth a punt, Swans form has really cranked up and Gylfi is in the middle of it all, went so close against Burnley to getting a goal.

He is due a huge haul, and Hull away with Swansea going for it and both teams chasing points is as good as it gets

Not sure whether to take an extra hit to ship Stan now as the only players I can transfer in for him this week don't look strong enough to make up the 4 points really. It's really between Lanzini and Antonio but is it worth what will probably end up as a -2

Wise I think... a hit for a liv mid is the only thing I'd be interested in but they've not really been going for it against weaker sides so theres a good chance it backfires. Especially when you consider the likelyhood of picking the 'wrong' liv mid. I'd personally still take the one on the off chance though, but that's me.

Probably not worth selling Alli or Sanchez and Sterling doesn't get you one of the main 3.

but the points are shared around liverpool and im sick of second guessing them!

Why does Sterling only have six points for the Sunderland game.Shouldn't he get 1 point for the clean sheet and four points for the assist plus two points which means 7 points?

Well I just lost about 60 points lead in my money league over the last 2 weeks thanks to not owning Kane as well as other goof ups.

I am a little concerned now, I still have 60 points lead in my ML from the nearest competitor and he looks all set from next GW.

                  My Current Team:

                  Jaku/Pickford
                  Alonso Coleman McAuley Macguire Barragan
Mane Siggy Antonio Sterling De Roon
                  Lukaku Aguero Rondon

                  His Team:
                  Grant/Heaton
                  Walker PVA McAuley Lovren Coleman
                  Stanislas Firmino Hazard King Siggy
                  Llorente Aguero Lukaku

I am pretty certain he will use his FT for Aguero > Kane for GW29 onwards. He has 0.0 itb and that's the good thing about it. Probably he'll do Stanislas to a playing MF for GW28 using the FT this week.

I already did Ibra > Lukaku for this week and with that I have about 9 players for GW 28.

I was thinking if it is worth taking the -4 for Aguero>Llorente for GW28 and then doing Rondon > Kane in the next week (using the FT).

Please help. Lot of money at stake 🙁

Over 1K quid per person. I do agree. I do have Siggy already. Even if I get Llorente, it would be for 2 GWs. Then'll probably move for Gabbi.

What do you mean Swansea fixtures are not great? If they are not great now when will they be? Loorente is a great enabler that actually score goals. And its only -2p hit since Aguero doesn't play. Just do it and invest the money later in Kane as you planed.

I think they'll struggle against Bournemouth. However I think they'll do good against Middlesborough. Post that you would anyway move to Gabbi as Sot'on fixtures are better.

I've been sleeping in recent weeks and have a diminished side of 7 after using my free transfer:

                  Foster
                  Haines, Williams, McAuley
                  Siggy, Firmino
                  Llorente

Non playing: Pickford Alonso, Cédric, Arnautovic, Aguero, de Roon, Capoue, Costa

3.3ITB and no FTs. What would you do? Take a few hits? Play wild card or run with the Fantastic Seven?

Really tight at the top of my ML. Already taken a -4 this week. Any more hits required? Thought about Sterling to Firmino but I want to keep enough itb to do Llorente to Kane next week. Could afford Holgate to FM though.

I wouldn't do Llorente to Kane next week at all. Llorente is good for 2 weeks but then again he plays for Swansea.
