Tuesday Player Picks

Fixtures
Juventus v Porto
Leicester v Sevilla

Kasper Schmeichel – Leicester City – $4,400 – G
A combination of a budget-friendly price tag, home comforts and an upturn in form have us turning to the Foxes’ stopper. Leicester were defeated 2-1 in Spain, which means even a 1-0 victory would see them through to the next stage.

We’re expecting Craig Shakespeare to focus on a resilient showing, then, and utilise counter-attacks as the main route to goal. Even if they concede, Schmeichel should still be kept busy by the La Liga outfit, with two points on offer per save in DraftKings.

Dani Alves – Juventus – $5,600 – D
The Brazilian has now recorded back-to-back Serie A assists in front of his own fans, having teed up the opener in Juventus’ weekend win AC Milan from a right flank role. If Alves retains a position in midfield for the visit of Porto, his points potential at both ends of the pitch could be too good to ignore.

An average of 11.1 Fantasy Points Per Game (FPPG) includes a steady 106 crosses in 26 appearances, which are each worth 0.75 points in DraftKings. Furthermore, the former Barcelona man has already demonstrated his attacking capabilities at this level, serving up a goal and pair of assists in the group stages before netting a second of the campaign in the first leg in Portugal.

Paulo Dybala – Juventus – $8,300 – M/F
Deployed in the number ten role by Massimiliano Allegri against AC Milan at the weekend, the Argentine’s spot-kick winner was his fifth goal in seven outings across all competitions in a run that also includes three assists.

An average of 12.5 FPPG this term is slightly better than the pricier Gonzalo Higuain ($9,000), highlighting Dybala’s value for money as Juventus look to secure a place in the last eight.

DK1

Andre Silva – Porto – $6,400 – F
The Portuguese side have won their last two league fixtures 4-0 and 7-0 ahead of the trip to Italy so should be in a confident mood, though overturning a two-goal deficit at the Serie A leaders is a daunting prospect.

Certainly, Silva is most likely to be the key to any comeback – he’s scored 19 goals and served up seven assists in 31 Liga Nos and Champions League appearances this campaign.

Stevan Jovetic – Sevilla – $7,700 – F
Snapped up on loan from Man City, Jovetic has started five of Sevilla’s last six matches across all competitions and was among the goals in a weekend draw against Leganes.

The Spanish outfit fired 22 attempts to Leicester’s seven in the first-leg and, sitting third in La Liga, are likely to dominate once again at the King Power Stadium. Jovetic supplied an assist in that narrow 2-1 win and we expect him to be instrumental again tomorrow night.

Wednesday Player Picks

Fixtures
Atletico v Bayer Leverkusen
Monaco v Manchester City

Jan Oblak – Atletico – $5,400 – G
After keeping back-to-back clean sheets in La Liga, the Slovenian is a clear front-runner for the keeper slot in this slate alongside veteran Gianluigi Buffon ($5,600). The Atletico defence conceded twice in the first leg at the BayArena but will be more difficult to break down at the Vicente Calderon, where they have kept nine clean sheets in 16 home ties in the league and Europe this term.

A struggling Bayer Leverkusen visit having failed to pick up a victory since the reverse fixture – Oblak looks well set for points from a win and a shut-out here, then.

Wendell – Bayer Leverkusen – $4,400 – D
We had earmarked the highly rated Benjamin Henrichs for Leverkusen’s trip to Atletico but, with the right-back sidelined through suspension, we’re turning to his fellow full-back instead.

Wendell’s raids down the left flank served up a goal and assist in his previous away appearance for the German outfit and an average of 10.5 FPPG so far this season is more than any defensive team-mate.

Raheem Sterling – Manchester City – $7,800 – M/F
The winger prodcued an assist in the FA Cup win at Middlesbrough to continue a consistent run of form in which he’s provided attacking returns in ten of his last 14 appearances across all competitions.

Sterling bagged a goal and assist when Monaco visited the Etihad last time out, which contributed to a strong score of 24 points. With the onus on the Ligue 1 side to attack, Sterling’s pace should be put to good use once again in the reverse fixture.

DK2

Antoine Griezmann – Atletico – $8,700 – M/F
It’s difficult to overlook the prolific Frenchman when Atletico welcome a Leverkusen side that conceded six goals in their last away match (a 6-2 defeat at Dortmund).

Griezmann boasts some impressive form, netting four goals in his previous trio of La Liga matches. He also notched in the 4-2 victory over Leverkusen in the opening match of the tie – bringing his tally to four goals and two assists in seven Champions League outings this season.

Radamel Falcao – Monaco – $7,000 – F
The Colombian’s eye for goal may well make the difference if Monaco are to overcome a 5-3 first-leg against Manchester City, with a brace at the Etihad last time out his second two-goal haul in four Champions League outings this campaign.

Utilised as a sub at the weekend due to a minor groin problem, Falcao still found time to emerge from the bench to claim an assist. With 16 goals in as many starts in the league, he’ll surely be unleashed from the off against Pep Guardiola’s defence.

Davies vs Walker stats are quite interesting in comparison over the last 4. Anything think he's a solid pick?

Still no news on Rose training and Spurs fans think he'll be out for longer than the club are saying.

      Replay fail first effort...

I think he's a great pick at the price but I guess you just need to be prepared for Rose's return. Having said that, if Rose still hasn't returned to training (which they said would be early-April) Davies may well still be starting up until mid-April.

That could give him as many as few as 2 games or as many as 5.

Shocking !!! How far dead / half-dead teams can reach in FPL even after 28 GWs !!!

OR 106 (After GW 27) had only 2 players for GW 28.Fletcher & Lukaku (C).

Ok based on the theory of 34 being a dgw for utd, mid, cry and palace without a WC this is the best I can do for 34. Need 7 transfers none left this week so that would be 2 hits before 34.
Does this mean I should WC early rather than between 34 and 36?

Brittos also a good option but Watford could double in 34 against Chelsea and Hull (both away) unless the Southampton vs Chelsea game is reschuled for midweek 34.
If Watford double in 37 then they'll play Chelsea and Everton both away

Their GW34 matches likely get delayed a few days, still in midweek of GW34. GW37 likely. If they have a second game to make up, could be 32, 33, 35, or 36. Good to hold that wildcard until we know more details.

Ideas on this WC team ? 0 itB

    Pickford Jaku
    Alonso Coleman Valencia Davies Yoshida
    Sanchez Hazard Alli Siggy King
    Lukaku Defoe Gabbi

Can get Ibra + 4.5 mid for Lukaku + King when Zlatan returns from suspension

Keepers sensible but can you afford higher standard DGW. (Valdes)
Alonso not impressed over the last few and expensive.
Davie may lose place so Walker?
      Coleman good for 2 weeks
Yoshida good. Watch out for VVD
Valencia hard DGW away games. May be a rotation risk.
Sanchez obvious. I hope Arsenal improve.
Haz looks good on the eye but does not tfr to points as much as I expect. I prefer Costa.
      Alli your best pick.
      Siggy template
      King good for 2 weeks
      Kaku 2 weeks
Defoe out of form or rather Sunderland.
      Gabbi obvious choice
      Your future move perfect.

My team without the WC has 12 of you players.

Thanks Smeggs for the in-depth reply !

That's great planning on your part that your team already has 12 of these players... Meanwhile I currently have Llorente, Carroll, Mane, Cout, Brunt, Baines, Kingsley, Chambers and Robinson 🙂

It looks like we're agreed on attack for the most part ? Sanchez, Alli, Siggy, Gabbi, 1 chelsea, & Lukaku+King for the short term.

Defense maybe I should pick 2 out of Coleman / Valencia / Alonso / Walker, and fill the rest with 4.5s. Any ideas ?

Also, do you think I need Pool cover in attack ?

        1. Eze Really?

I think Coleman and a Pool player are good to keep and maybe change GW 36/37. I am anyway. It cost me 4 by jumping in on Kane but I will take the hit cause I have got away with early tfrs so often and my TV is high. So cost me -8 to get to where I am. I don't have Gabbi yet so it will happen. now it will be about caressing the side for appropriate DGW's. Walker is a slightly better call than Alonso but both will be hard to get the later you leave it.

Can any of the GW34 blanks be preponed to GW33 midweek making it a DGW?

Arsenal, Spurs & Chelsea have no European fixtures so they could play their rearranged fixtures in GW34 making it a Single GW for them. And their GW34 could be preponed to midweek GW33 making it a DGW maybe?

    Appreciate your thoughts!

My understanding of the dgw situation is that it's more than likely that they will all now be between 34 and 37. Man U no longer need to reschedule 3 games and the murmurings of an an early Arsenal one have been scuppered by them being on mnf in both 32 and 33. Also the most teams we'll get with a dgw34 is 4 therefore a 37bb is a no brainer.
Given this info I'm now leaning towards a gw30 wildcard because it should be easy enough to use free transfers and the odd hit to get in who you want by then.
Nothing wrong with saving your wildcard till 34 or 36 even but I just feel freshening up our teams in 30 could be the best strategy

I'm thinking of saving it till Ibra returns, see how Sanchez is doing for the next 2 games and then I'll probably use it for GW31.

      This is my plan.
WC maybe over the international break as soon as fixtures are announced. With so much quality in the DGWs you aren't wrecking your team wildcarding early and FTs should maintain a steady ship.
I think the accrued benefits of a strong WC team over the extra weeks offsets the worry around firm/availability of players.

      1. Rhinos
        • 10 Years
        7 years, 2 months ago

Yep the 3 things that worry me are
        1) you'll need a nicely balanced squad in order to maximise a bb37, that's not easy to do this early
        2) being able to cherry pick the best options in a 36wc is definitely tempting
        3) not sure my team really needs an early wc, just feels nice to freshen it up

Morning DZ. Recovering from another drab Utd performance last night by team tinkering.

Chasing OR and on the following. Help appreciated as Llorente/Carroll to Kane in was the obvious move but no longer. Have 1ft and 5.8m banked.

    Heaton Jakupovic
    Alonso Coleman Pieters Mawson Mcauley
    Mane Coutinho Sterling Siggy Davies
    Lukaku Llorente Carroll

    Sanchez in for Couts/Sterling?

    Brunt > Walker
    Coutinho > Alli
    Kane > Costa

Anyone. Holebas is going to break the record for yellow cards so he'll probably end up with a 3 game ban at some point. Gamble on Phil Jones maybe? Monitor the Spurs LB situation and get Davies? Mawson will probably end up with the most points in that price bracket even without a DGW. Capoue for De Roon as well. Can he finish the season the way he started it. Definitely has the short-term fixtures as well.
