Assessing Shakespeare’s Leicester City

Leicester City’s decision to part company with Claudio Ranieri back in late February came in for some harsh criticism at the time yet the impact under Craig Shakespeare has forced a sharp reassessment of the Foxes’ potential.

Four straight wins in all competitions, scoring three times in their trio of Premier League matches since the Italian left the King Power Stadium, bodes well ahead of back-to-back home encounters with Stoke and Sunderland and a trip to Crystal Palace in the next four rounds of fixtures.

With that in mind, we take a look at the Foxes’ displays since Ranieri was relieved of his duties as Fantasy Premier League managers consider a short-term move for their in-form assets.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

I think so. Any move to a DGW player and good fixtures is a good call going forward. Cout out of form and you have Mane cover. If you have Erik you could hold.

I think Coutinho will score really good next 2 game weeks. I have Mane and Cout both as well and the reason I got them way back was to target next 2 fixtures vs Everton and Bournemouth. After those 2 it makes sense to go for Spurs mids.

I'm worried about Cout's gametime if it's just the next 2 fixtures you're concerned with (2 games in 5 days), especially considering he and Bobby would've landed back here a few hours ago

I can certinaly see the dilemma, as I was looking down the same barrel but found a way to take a hit for Sane to Sanchez this week, and leave Mane alone for a while.

Does Siggy and downgrading a some combo of Snoddy, Brunt & Baines give you a route to Sanchez without losing Mane?

Might be painful on hits but could pay off over a week or two?

Yes possibly - he's a good choice and one that I'm considering. Yoshida is the budget option but I'm not expecting a Soton cleanie this week. I'd like Rose but he's not ready yet, Another far out selection would be Ake (!) to enable me to get Sanchez next week without a hit.

    Costa or Alonso for C?

i roughly calculated their PPG (points per game) to be just under 6 for both alonso and costa, so they're essentially even. if you take into account alonso has been robbed 2-3 clean sheets with last minute consolation goals, he could be even ahead in points per game

To add to this think Big Sam's Crystal Palace will be very defensive, making the clean sheet more likely than costa to score a goal, which would both score 4 points for each respective player (Advantage Alonso)

However if costa does score, he could go and score more, alonso can only win one clean sheet (Advantage Costa)

Lastly assist chances for both these players is very even and i can't choose between them (No advantage)

With all this taken into account, the fact that alonso can score himself, which he's done 3-4 times this year, makes me just edge the captaincy towards him. Thoughts?

I'm rubbish at picking captains and will be going Mane or Sanchez this week, so avoid them if you have them!

Costa more exciting pick than Alonso surely? I'm a fellow Alonso owner but he's not on my radar as captain material.

Maybe it's the thought of just one lucky goal against and the captain pick has failed really. Forwards normally have multiple chances to score.

At least it's not a TV game (in the U.K.) so you wouldn't need to have heart in your mouth every time Palace crossed the halfway line, as you would if you watched it live!

    Who to bench?

    Llorente (MID) or King (sou)?

Leaning towards King purely on basis that if you own Llorente then you have to play him against teams like MID at home? Sensible?

If you own a player like King in the form he is you have to start him against a B team defence.

    Llorente Aguero Lukaku

Trying to pick between one of Llorente/Lanzini/Sane/ Coutinho to bench is proving quite difficult, especially after leaving Lanzini on the bench for his 10 pointer last GW!

You should out Coleman first if you want to try to fix your back.

What's the general consensus on Aguero and likelihood to start this weekend?

Should do. Game isn't until Sunday and he only came on in the second half in the last International match

How am I looking for the weekend?
I'm on top of my two cash leagues – so should I play safe and buy Costa/Vardy(C) for a hit?

    Heaton
    Alonso – Holebas – McAuley
    Sanchez – Mane – Alli – Siggy
    Lukaku – Carroll – Llorente

Bench: Pickford – Lovren – Coleman*

    0 FT ... £4.6 itb

this is like looking at my team....having exactly the same thought. sticking with carroll and llorente. costa/ vardy has to score 2 for it to be worth it, cant see that happening

Good thought. Scared of Costa though, def think he's capable of scoring big. Might be worth a hit just to cover him?

Just think freely. Don't hold the fears of red arrows. No matter it is cash league or not . Follow your heart.

Sorry I can't give a good idea for your squad.

The midfield is sorted. I think you'll have to work on the defence in the near future. Where did you use your FT?

True. Was really close to ship Coleman för Valencia but didn't think it was worth a hit in the end. I did Sterling > Alli

Time to start chasing these cash leagues.. AOA with a defender captain this week! 😛

    Heaton
    Alonso (c) - Valencia
    Firm - Cout - Walcott - Lanzini - Siggy
    Llorente - Aguero - Lukaku

    Foster - Nyom - Jones - Coleman

.. WC could be on next GW with how bad my bench is!

Why not just do Coleman to Bertrand/Davies? I mean Coleman is going to drop a value over the next GW.

    Current Team:

    Jaku Pickford
    Alonso Bertrand Barragan McAuley Maguire
    Alli Antonio* Mane Siggy Sterling
    Lukaku Llorente Rondon

I used my FT to do Coleman > Bertrand.

    ITB - 5.6

What move should I make for a -4?

    1) Antonio > Sanchez
    2) Rondon > Deeney/Vardy (Cant bring in Sanchez post GW30)
    3) McAuley > Valencia
    4) None of the above, suggest something else

I am currently ranked 5K OR and trail a money league leader by 40 points.

    Suggestions please !?

    Thanks in advance !

5.6 is a lot of money ITB.

Might as well get spending it at this stage of the season. Having worked hard to build it up all season, now is the time to use it to out-power your rivals with some expensive shiny new signings!

A for me coz I saw Sanchez in chile vs Venezuela match. I will even captain him after -4transfer of Kun, Antonio >Defoe, Sanchez in my squad.
I am now 13965 in global rank and 110 points behind my league leader.

Crikey - tough oppo if you're 5K and he's still 40 clear! If he doesn't have Sanchez then you need him soon - but if he does you might start thinking about taking a chance without him. A huge risk though. I'd be carefully weighing up the WC/BB situation too.
How about Vardy this week and then Rondon - >Barnes next week to enable Sanchez for his nice run ...... but that's another - 4

He doesn't have sanchez and has the following team:

Funes Mori Williams Walker Alonso Stones
        Mane King Antonio Snoddy Morrison
        Costa Aguero Lukaku

I don't think his team is great atm but he has WC/BB as well.

I don't really expect Sanchez to pull up any trees this week but you need him soon. You need a forward that you can keep until GW35/36 - does Vardy satisfy that criterion? Llorente is OK this week but Rondon needs to go.

Your oppo has FM and Antonio to worry about ..... he might also do some surgery that involves Sanchez - but he won't be losing that forward line so he might not be able to afford it.

So Rondon to Deeney? What do you suggest? Cause I can't do Rondon > Vardy, won't have funds for Sanchez.

I can then do Antonio/Sterling > Sanchez next week. Antonio is expected to return for next GW (that's what telegraph says). If he does then I don't have to get rid of him as WHU have good fixtures.

Deeney could be a great call - good mid term fixtures other than Spurs. I like Vardy for the next two, but if we (Foxes fan) win those then I reckon we might take our feet off the gas a bit - 4 straight away games too.

              Good luck with your decision!!

I really don't want to take another -4 next week just to fit in Sanchez cause of Vardy transfer. Plus, as you rightly pointed out that Foxes have straight 4 away fixtures is going to be a cause of concern. I think Deeney looks better in those aspects. They have 4 home games out of the next 5. I would go for him anytime. I think my gut says Deeney. Let's hope that he delivers this week.

I am going to wait till the pressers are out though.
