FFS Cup

FFS Cups – Results & Second Round Draws

This afternoon we reveal who has made it through to the second round of both our Fantasy Premier League cup competitions.

In our open to all cup, reigning champion A Manager Has No Name saw off Flying Nugget 50-41 despite being more than 30,000 behind him in the overall rankings going into the clash.

The enigmatically-titled victor, who is placed at 30,453, now has himself another tricky tie, against community regular Krul runnings, who is 9,490 places above him.

He wasn’t the only cup winner to progress, with both Mark and I overcoming Sleep Talk and Virus in the mind respectively.

Mark, who is 472nd in the rankings, now faces 7,717-placed Jimmyt281, while I’ve got my work cut out to defeat 76,423-ranked Not Much Klopp, given my lowly 355,537 placing.

Former champions Donnellyc, Gribude and Wild Rover also prevailed. Of this trio, 323,577-placed Donnellyc has arguably the toughest encounter when he squares up to the 7,798-ranked SpartaBhoy.

Meanwhile, 67,661-placed Gribude faces 5,199-ranked Footopia and Wild Rover takes on Kabukkinen, who at 25,793, is 18,154 places ahead of our community’s resident Blackburn fan.

Sadly, we say goodbye to former winner MCH at this stage, who was defeated 49-42 by upthemiddle.

In the first round’s live Hall of Fame top ten derby, Philman, who is 1,071 in the overall standings and seventh in our list of all-time best FPL managers, lost 68-34 to Dronny Imp (aka David Meechan), who is tenth in our elite listings and has moved up to 7,275 in the world.

Legomane, who is 3,755 places behind David, has drawn the short straw to become this top manager’s next opponent.

Another to fall victim to the fixture list is FetchUp, who is placed 8,461 in the world but next faces Hana, who at 52 overall is the competition’s highest-ranked manager.

The full second round draw can be found here.

Meanwhile, in the Members’ Cup former winner Trigg, who is 134,835 in the world, won a close encounter with Bangkok Canary 59-53 and next takes on 56,151-ranked Fenghh.

FFScout Members’ League leader and 34th-placed Billy Ketsu was another victor. After overcoming Emckay, he now encounters Doctor101, who is ranked 56,236.

Other eye-catching ties include Jafooli’s clash with another community regular VS10, while Hana makes it through in this contest as well and takes on FFScout moderator Spencer .

The full second round draw can be found here.

There is £350 in Amazon.com or Amazon.co.uk vouchers up for grabs for the final top three managers in both tournaments.

Good luck to all those involved, and if you would like more information on the schedule and prizes simply click this link.

Took a -4 to Bring Ibra & sort out Mane (Kaku > Ibra / Mane > Alli)
Which should pay me back I hope.

    My dilemma is my bench:

    Heaton
    Alonso McAuley Valencia
    King Sterling Alli Firmino
    Ibra Vardy Carroll

    Foster/ Pieters Maguire Siggy

I fancy Carroll against Arsenals current form; hench siggy on the bench. Any other changes I need to make?

Some players just dont look good when it comes to stats 😳

I'm avoiding Vardy because of stats but everyone who has seen him play thinks he is playing well.

Got both. Leaning towards Vardy. Stats make Vardy poorer option than he is and greatly flatter Sanchez.

Thing with Vardy is that he's fast and clinical. He doesn't need lots of chances - he takes the few he gets.

Last season he scored more as he had more chances.

This season he's still consistently scoring.

I think Sanchez has more upside given the fixture and being a midfielder as a captain... but I also think Vardy is a very strong candidate. Jamie is my vice captain, Alexis gets the armband for me.

Same here. He did us proud considering so many other more popular options flopped but there is a time and place for Sanchez and that's when West Ham are up against him.

    Current team:

    Grant (Pickford)
Alonso, Valencia, McAuley (Chambers, Amat) - Chambers is a bit of a punt but it freed cash for Ibra and he should be back for DGW
Sanchez (C), Zaha, Siggy, King (Fletcher)
    Aguero, Ibrahimovic, Lukaku

I obviously need to downgrade one of my strikers and bring in Alli/Eriksen but the Llorente and Mane injuries as well as me foolishly thinking Spurs might struggle away at Burnley have left me with this team

Which transfer is most beneficial do you guys reckon? Mindful that all these trades take a -4 hit

    A) Costa + Mane > Ibrahimovic + Coutinho w/ 0.3 ITB
    B) Sigurdsson + Mane > Sanchez + Ndidi w/ 0.4 ITB
    C) Alonso + Mane > Stephans/Yoshida + Sanchez w/ 0.5/0.2 ITB

WC G2G? 🙂 0.0 ITB. Had to switch to 3-5-2 with gabby still out. Only slight downside I see is 3 Spurs which could cause issues when Harry is back. Otherwise I think I'm happy.

    Hennessey (Jaku)
Walker • Valencia • Stones (Chambers • Yoshida)
    Sanchez • Alli • Coutinho • Sane • Eriksen
    Ibrahimovic • Lukaku (Barnes)

Ah, I have seen a few of your 3-5-2 configurations. I like it. You can get Kane from Lukaku by selling one of your two Spurs mids. It's a strong team. I'm a little iffy on Sane, but that is me, and why my wc is old-fashioned 3-4-3.

      1. RAFA THE GAFFA

Yes, on the real pitch...(!). FPL-wise, you create more options for midfielders of choice, yet fewer options at the forward spot should 3 high-priced forwards be the way to go through the end of the season. It's not a big risk though this year given our current forward choices in the high-priced bracket.

Thanks. I am concerned about the length of time Davies has though...

Yoshida does have a bit of scoring potential, yet Valdes is preferable to Hennessy. It could be a 50-50 thing. Not sure I have a preference. Maybe some others will have a clearer preference.

Thanks for any input on the following wc. Have 105.9 to spend, with some value tied up in Alonso and Lukaku:

    Pickford, Caballero
    Alonso, Valencia, Davies, Gibson, Stephens
    Sanchez, Alli, Coutinho, Zaha, Ndidi
    Lukaku, Vardy, Ibra

    0.3 itb. Future: Lukaku/Vardy > Kane; Coutinho > 7.0

I'd prefer Zaha but may get him closer to the double game week. Just don't fancy any alternatives at that price for a striker and as will be taking a hit don't want a short a one or two week punt.

If only 2, then B. Tough not to have Lukaku given how strong he has been this year, but Man Utd have more games, easier schedule, and Vardy is torrid. He could become Kane in the future, too.
