Double Gameweeks 36 and 37 Confirmed

Earlier this lunchtime, the Premier League confirmed new dates for a number of fixtures, allowing Fantasy managers the chance to fine-tune their wildcard plans for the run-in.

Double Gameweek 36

Arsenal – Man United (H), Southampton (A)
Southampton – Liverpool (A), Arsenal (H)

Only two teams – Southampton and Arsenal – have been handed a double Gameweek 36 after their head-to-head, which was postponed due to the former’s progress to the EFL Cup final, was shifted to Wednesday, May 10.

Claude Puel’s men hardly have the easiest of schedules, with a testing weekend trip to Liverpool before entertaining the Gunners.

Similarly, Arsenal host Man United in the weekend prior to making their way to St Mary’s.

Double Gameweek 37

Arsenal – Stoke (A), Sunderland (H)
Chelsea – West Brom (A), Watford (H)
Leicester – Man City (A), Spurs (H)
Manchester City – Leicester (H), West Brom (H)
Manchester United – Spurs (A), Southampton (A)
Southampton – Middlesbrough (A), Man United (H)
Sunderland – Swansea (H), Arsenal (A)
Spurs – Man United (H), Leicester (A)
Watford – Everton (A), Chelsea (A)
West Bromwich Albion – Chelsea (H), Man City (A)

With ten teams set to play twice in Gameweek 37, this, as expected, offers a prime opportunity to use the remaining chips.

Obviously you are unable to play two chips in the same Gameweek, so if you are wildcarding in Gameweek 36 to set up your squad for Gameweek 37, it’s worth remembering that you cannot then also use a Triple Captain or Bench Boost in Gameweek 36.

Dealing the second wildcard in Gameweek 36 to catch the early potential offered by Arsenal and Southampton, then following it up with a Bench Boost or Triple Captain chip in the next Gameweek, looks the best solution.

In terms of the teams involved, the Gunners go to Stoke before welcoming Sunderland to the Emirates in Gameweek 37, while the Saints travel to Middlesbrough prior to facing Man United at St Mary’s.

Despite his recent drought, Alexis Sanchez is likely to find a place in many second wildcard teams, though non-owners may now choose to overlook him until the Gunners’ two pairs of fixtures, focusing their short-term plans instead on double Gameweek 34 attackers from Man United and Palace.

At 5.1, the likes of James Ward-Prowse could emerge as a decent midfield enabler, while the fitness of Manolo Gabbiadini will also play a part in our thinking.

For those looking to load up on Arsenal and Southampton for their back-to-back doubles, it’s worth bearing in mind that they also offer home matches in Gameweek 38, entertaining Everton and Stoke respectively.

Chelsea will now travel to West Brom before hosting Watford on Monday May 15, while the Hornets have consecutive road trips for their double Gameweek 37, with a visit to Everton preceding their Stamford Bridge encounter.

Crucially, moving the Chelsea v Watford match to that Monday evening has had a significant impact on the Gameweek 37 deadline.

Essentially, Gameweek 37 will now get underway on the evening of Friday, May 12, when West Brom host Chelsea and Everton entertain Watford. The deadline – an hour before the first match gets underway –will be 6.45pm.

Man City, meanwhile, are the only side set to play twice in front of their own supporters, with clashes against Leicester and West Brom on the agenda for Pep Guardiola’s side.

Having scored in each of the last four Gameweeks, Sergio Aguero will stake a claim for consideration here but – as we saw in the case of Raheem Sterling, who was rested for the second match of double Gameweek 27 – Pep’s tinkering could prove a spanner in the works.

For Man United, this means that all four of their matches across double Gameweek 34 (Burnley, Man City) and Gameweek 37 are away from home.

While those extra fixtures heighten the appeal of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who has scored ten of his 17 goals on the road, the veteran has still offered more threat in front of his own fans, firing an effort every 18 minutes at Old Trafford compared with 30 minutes away.

Encouragingly for those eyeing up their backline, Jose Mourinho’s men have chalked up six of 12 clean sheets on the road this season – indeed, United have conceded less away goals (13) than any other side.

In spite of the Red Devils’ fine away record, faith in Spurs’ trio Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen is likely to remain resolute as they welcome United to the Lane before heading off to Leicester in the final fixture of Gameweek 37.

As always, we’ll look to publish ‘Scouting the Doubles’ articles assessing the prospects in greater detail in the build-up to each double Gameweek.

For now, this is just a heads-up. Enjoy tinkering..

Depends on if you have WC left (to get Sanchez back in)

Not C if you're chasing. Think Kane (c) way to go this week

What do we think chaps, I feel Sanchez can make way for the next 3 GWs and then I'll downgrade a premium striker to get him back for GW36. What do you think my next move should be? It's basically Aguero or Sanchez out.

    A) Zaha with Kane, Aguero and Lukaku up top?

    or

    B) Sanchez with Kane, Benteke and Lukaku up top?

          Correct! What do you think?

Basically I can have the 3 big hitters up top Kane, Lukaku, Aguero this week with Zaha.
Or Kane, Lukaku, Benteke while keeping Sanchez in midfield.

Not sure which option is better?

Weighing it up myself. Can have 3 big hitters for -8 or even -4 at the expense of Eriksen.

That is pretty much the same for me, it's a tough decision but one I will make.

I'm leaning towards A but just because on paper the 3 big hitters looks nicer than Benteke up top.

I've also had Benteke for weeks and he did nothing for me, where Zaha has got me points when I've had him.

Very true it just all comes down to form doesn't it! Sanchez could turn up at Boro and score 2 if he fancies it.

Although downgrading Sanchez will allow me to get Ibra for next week while keeping Kane & Lukaku.

I don't see the need to wait, especially if you are not happy with your current team. You can easily get mostly DGW37 players with a few DGW34 ones that you switch in GWs 35-37.

I played mine in GW30 and I'm well set up for all the doubles. Even if I take 1 or 2 hits ahead of GW36, I've easily gained more than that with my new team over the last few GWs.

No one can say whether it is stupid or not stupid without looking at your team and knowing your intentions for 36 and 37. If it is strong then save the WC a little longer - if it is weak then play it now.

Zaha (LEI, liv & TOT, BUR)
        King (tot, MID, sun)

Other midfielders are Sanchez, Eriksen, Alli & Firminho so I can only have 1.

Maybe, but if you intend to keep them for the season it´s King imo. His fixture from 34 is better by far and Bournemouth will keep attacking even though their season is at an end tablewise. Having both could is actually an intrguing idea-). But follow your gut, thats always my advice-)

I think that of all the DGWs these on 37 are the best fixtures to invest in:

        Arsenal – Stoke (A), Sunderland (H)
        Chelsea – West Brom (A), Watford (H)
Manchester City – Leicester (H), West Brom (H)

So my plan is to load on Arsenal, Chelsea and City players, maybe 3 of each, and also pick a triple captain among those, probably Sanchez, Hazard or Aguero, what do you think?

Will depend a lot on Aguero v Jesus. Also will depend even more on if Chelsea have won the league by then which I feel they will have, or will after the first game at the latest.

Especially seeing as Arsenal have double week before and City & Chelski have CPL & MID.

Guardiola's line-ups late January and early February already showed Jesus is ahead of Aguero in the pecking order if both are fit. 😉

        Heaton/Jaku
        Alonso/Valencia/Davies/Olsson/Wasilewski
        Sanchez/Alli/Eriksen/Siggy/De Roon
        Lukaku/Vardy/Gabbiadini

        Wasilewski/Siggy/De Roon > Yoshida/King/Zaha for (-4)?

        Any help would be appreciated

I'd do it now Zaha is a 3 week investment and with Leicester busy with ucl he could covet the hit this week..Also give us flexibility going to the dgw

Definitely don't drop Eriksen when he's about to play Bournemouth...so if you're gonna do it, I'd say do it for Coutinho.

Coutinho in this form would be plain stupid to let go, if to be let go wait at least till someone with a DGW, preferably GW 36 or 37? Liverpool could be this years Spurs, easy fixtures and both Firmino and Cout back in business bodes well for points.

Would want more than Son. Would be surprised if he top scored out of the 4 this GW.

Assuming Jesus is fit (that sounds odd), doubt will have either.

They are far from must haves. Jesus and championship would slow them down.

If Chelsea have the title wrapped up Haz may not start/be less driven.
If Jesus is back, Kun is in danger.
If he's out though, Kun will be very popular

Most will WC in 36, for the fixtures in 37
Good thing is you can actually have good fixtures in 36 and 37 for a lot of the assets.
Personally, will get 3 Saints and 3 Arsenal on WC 36 (3 city, spurs, chelsea cover too. hold my utd def)
Benching headache for 36, but with 37 BB

Due back this weekend. I was thinking the same, his price is very attractive and makes a DGW midfield containing Sanchez&Hazard possible

At the moment I'm 352 but on wild card go with 343 with cheap dgw enablers. Maybe Jwp in there as a 5th mid with king

Is Baines > PVA worth -4 in DGW34?

These are the only fixtures I'd start them for between GW34 and GW37, where they would be sold for a DGW player (no WC):

          PVA (DGW34, BUR, bench)
          Baines: (whu, bench, swa)

Alonso, Valencia, Vertonghen, ______ , Yoshida

Who would your double choice in 37 be? Perhaps you could do that in 34, as a -4 for PVA with those fixtures doesnt look so tempting and Everton are stretched at the back atm.

Probably Stones, but will keep a close eye on City's defence. It's essentially PVA (liv,TOT,BUR) vs. Baines (whu, swa) +4. I think that's pretty close. I probably won't take the risk. Already have Valdes, Valencia, Zaha, Zlatan for this DGW.

U already have an expensive back line I'd go for someone who is cheaper considering that u don't have a WC maybe someone like yoshida. U dig?

Already own Yoshida... If I buy a replacement here they will be sold for Stones or similar DGW37 player later. The extra money doesn't help me very much in the midfield unfortunately.
