Stock Check – Gameweek 36 – Wednesday

A moment of brilliance from Alexis Sanchez unlocks Southampton at St Mary’s, the Gunners deliver a second clean sheet over Double Gameweek 36, but the Saints’ Manolo Gabbiadini fails to find the net again.

On the Rise

Alexis Sanchez
The most captained player for Gameweek 36, Sanchez’s opener in the 2-0 triumph was just reward for the patience of his 27% FPL ownership after a dire run of recent form.

It’s two goals in eight league outings now for the Arsenal man, who extended his lead at the top of the FPL standings after also claiming maximum bonus points at St Mary’s for an overall 14-point Gameweek 36 return.

The stats are still troubling – Sanchez scored with his only shot on target over clashes with Man United and Southampton.

But the determination to net that excellent solo effort suggests his armband potential shouldn’t be dismissed as the Gunners prepare for another pair of fixtures, with Arsene Wenger’s side travelling to Stoke City before entertaining Sunderland in midweek.

Rob Holding
The summer signing was one of only three Arsenal defenders, along with Nacho Monreal and Kieran Gibbs, to start both double Gameweek fixtures. He ended as their top-scoring outfield asset, earning bonus points from each of his clean sheets.

Holding had featured in just one league match from Gameweek 4 onwards prior to the double, but the recent switch to three at the back seems to have boosted his prospects and elevated him ahead of Gabriel in the pecking order.

Despite the absence of Laurent Koscielny, Wenger was able to recall Shkodran Mustafi and once again bench the Brazilian – much to the chagrin of the 51,000+ who acquired Gabriel prior to last week.

It remains to be seen whether he’ll retain his role once Wenger has a fully fit quota of defenders to choose from, but there’s no denying that the 4.0-priced Holding was one of the stand-out performers over the Gameweek.

The former Bolton man chalked up 15 points and has collected over 14,000 new owners in the last 24 hours alone ahead of Double Gameweek 37 and a final day home match against Everton.

Petr Cech
Yet again, goalkeepers prevailed in a double Gameweek.

First it was Stoke’s Lee Grant (13 points in Gameweek 27) and then United’s David de Gea served up 17 points in Gameweek 34.

The Gunners’ top-scoring player on 16 points, Cech was second only to the Saints’ Fraser Forster, who earned 17 points thanks to his spot-kick save at Anfield on Sunday.

Yet the Arsenal stopper was the more consistent option, earning a clean sheet, one save point and a single bonus point in both of his appearances.

Having returned at least one save point in 14 successive league outings, Cech, at 5.3, remains a strong option between the posts for those favourable final three fixtures.

In Decline

Manolo Gabbiadini
Drafted in by over 108,000 FPL managers for Southampton’s matches with Liverpool and the Gunners, the Italian proved a bitter disappointment.

Gabbiadini scored four times in his first three league outings but has mustered just a single assist in the subsequent six as Claude Puel’s side struggle for a cutting edge.

Despite boasting a Double Gameweek 37 – away to Middlesbrough and at home to Man United – the winter signing is now facing a backlash, with over 12,000 owners parting company since last Friday’s deadline.

Having failed to find the net in four of their last five league matches, there’s a growing concern that the Saints are now at least halfway to the beach.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain
Revitalised by a recent stint at wing-back in the Gunners’ new 3-4-2-1 formation, Oxlade-Chamberlain’s pair of assists at home to Man United suggested he could prosper as a budget-friendly option for the upcoming Double Gameweek 37.

Indeed, over 15,000 FPL managers had already acquired his services with one eye on the remaining matches only to watch him limp out of action before the break last night.

Post-match, Wenger admitted he was uncertain on the extent of Oxlade-Chamberlain’s hamstring injury.

But with the FA Cup final later this month, the Gunners boss may look to manage the midfielder’s fitness ahead of that Wembley clash against Chelsea.

in that case i can even do Amat for a 5.1 def.

Personally, I've got Pedro in for my team this week because I'm suddenly behind my ML rivals after a bad week. But wouldn't advice anyone else to do that. You can actually go for Azpi instead of Alonso, and get Ben Davies instead of a 4.3m Def.

Netflix show that has gotten a lot of attention for various reasons. "13 Reasons Why" is a teen show about the causes of a teen to commit suicide. It's a bit pretty little liars-ish, and is controversial because of the way it handles such a sensitive subject (e.g. I got emails from my kid's high school indicating that mental health professionals disagree with the protrayal). Huge ratings though.

It is very popular in the USA. I am old though (55), and I found it implausible, superficial, and pretty bad dialogue. However, my 19 year old daughter loved it, and I need to ask her if the drama they portray in high school resonated for her. It seemed doubtful to me and my wife. It is gripping, but pretty soap opera and a bit hard to believe.

Ian was in a very dark place, especially with the later songs and the lyrics reflect this. How nobody noticed the did anything to help him is beyond me, especially when you listen to New Dawn Fades. The rest of the band are all very self centered and were very young at the time but it's still pretty crazy!

Yeah Riley was excellent and I love that film. The drugs he was on for epilepsy back then were really not good either and didn't help at all. The worst thing about it is that we ended up with Barney as the singer in New Order, as he's terrible! 😆

Arsenal & Man City defence for DGW37

Currently have Stones and Gabriel following WC last week. Very keen on keeping Arsenal & City defence so tempted by transfer for Holding and Clichy for -4.
But rather concern I may still have no playing Arsenal & City defence after transfer.

What are peoples thoughts on likely defence line up for DGW37?

GK's not an option unless take major hits and downgrading elsewhere.

In reality its a 2 def transfer. I have the DGW blinkers on but maybe I should look SGW, i.e. Naughton & Daniels?

Am 7pts behind in cash ML, we both have BB left and playing this week, my side doesn't really need much surgery but reckon he may well take a couple of hits to block my players. Would you go Hazard > KDB for free with my team as i don't think he will as has other issues to sort for hits first, would be my main differential and could prove the difference between 1st and 2nd?

    Me :
    Cech, Cabbellero
    Alonso, Monreal, Vertonghen, Yoshida, Stephens
    Sanchez, Hazard, Eriksen, Pedro, King
    Kane, Jesus, Anichebe

    Him :
    Cech, De Gea
    Azpi, Monreal, Bailly, Stones, Stephens
    Sanchez, Hazard, Alli, JWP, Fletcher
    Kane, Rashford, Gabbiadini

    Any thoughts much appreciated, thanks.

Think your in the driving seat tbh.

Let him take hits. I personally don't like the hazard to KDB transfer. I get he might not get both games but he's still capable of outscoring KDB in a single.

I wouldn't change a thing. Have two for the last gw.

If you want yeah but do NOT take any hit. Your team is better and the hits he is gonna have to take mean you will start 37 in front

Thanks all for your input, i can see KDB defo getting both games and being well up for it and i reckon Haz will be rested vs Watford should they beat West Brom (99%!!) and then prob start vs Sunderland where they will lift the cup but maybe only get 45' there with FA Cup 6 days later. If Aguero is deemed fit i will certainly not bring in KDB but if he's out then do think KDB will be a better option than Haz and outscore him in 37 so may well take the leap...best wait on City presser i guess?

    Barnes Kane Vardy

    a. Pedro; Vardy > Sané; Jesus -4
    b. Vardy > Jesus

I like B. Leicester games seem tough while Man City has two relatively easier home games, motivation, and they could be back to that high-scoring form from earlier in the season (just one game, but it was compelling).

First poster - please RMT on a wildcard - I have bench boost so all will be playing on DGW...

    Cab / Pickford
    Holding / Davies / Yoshida / Jones / Stephens
    Sterling / Ozil / Erik / Pedro / Chamberlin
    Costa / Jesus / Kane

    +£1m in bank.

Anyone i should be wary of gametime or swap out. Worried about sanchez / KDB / hazard / alli

main rival is 5 points ahead has alli / sanchez / sane / jesus / costa / gab / king but i expect him to make a few changes and want some differentials

If on WC, either forget about BB completely, load up on the expensive DGWers and bench chaff, or sort yourself out a BB for GW38.

Either way, I'm afraid you've probably lost this one. Best get in differentials and hope.

    A) Holding (have Cech)
    B) Yoshida (have Stephens)

My rival has both SOT defenders and no Ars coverage... but is Holding guaranteed to start or will he be benched?

Current team with no bench boost and triple captain

    Caballero
    Davies/Yoshida/Jagielka
    King/Alli/Hazard/Sanchez
    Gabbiadini/Jesus/Kane

    Bench: Gabriel/Bailly/De Roon

    1 FT 0.4 in Bank

    A. Transfer in Azpilicueta for Bailly and play instead of Jagielka
    B. Transfer in Azpilicueta and Gibbs for Bailly & Gabriel (-4) and drop King to bench
    C. Transfer in Alonso, Costa, Monreal for Bailly & Gabriel & Kane (-8) Drop king and jagielka to bench?

This would also cover Costa points of current leader who is currently 6 points ahead of me and doesn't have Kane or Sanchez?

Any help would be appreciated, not sure what to do.
