The ScoutCast – Episode 225 – Brutal

“Brutal” can be the only way to describe the way the ScoutCast collective round on the mis-fortune of a fellow FFS team member.

I say “misfortune”, in truth, Jonty, Andy and Az join me in showing little sympathy for Spencer’s predicament as we circle his catastrophic 40-point hit and take turns jabbing at the corpse of his Gameweek 36 line-up. When you end up with Victor Anichebe as your captain, it’s difficult to show any mercy.

Spencer’s plight provides some light relief before we delve into our own insecurities following Spurs’ “impossible” defeat to West Ham, as Chelsea prepare to wrap up the title race and ruin our run-in.

Your community questions quiz us on the impact of the inevitable, and, in the light of doubts surrounding Eden Hazard’s prospects, we discuss merits of a swoop for his compatriot Kevin De Bruyne.

Elsewhere, we scrape the barrel for Manolo Gabbiadini alternatives up front and pull up the sofa cushions to hunt for some value in midfield.

This ScoutCast was first beamed live via our YouTube channel on Tuesday night. Be sure to subscribe to get notice of future live episodes.

    Best 4.5m or under defender?

Anyone actually going for Fabregas? Don't think he's going to play both games...not sure if he's even going to manage to get 80 minutes overall.

I think he'll play in both games, but won't necessarily start both. My guess is start 1, 20-30 minutes in the other one.

Cesc might be on bench today and start the game against Watford

He'll get around 25 minutes against West Brom then start vs Watford I think. That's the pattern anyway.

    Bench Boost.

    Pickford // Caballero
    Alonso // Monreal // Daniels // Yoshida // Holgate
    Hazard // Sanchez // Eriksen // T.Carroll // King
    Gabbiadini // Kane // Jesus

Which one will give more points?
    A. Daniels+T.Carroll+Eriksen+Gabbiadini --> Holding+Fabregas+Sane+Llorente (-8)
    B. Eriksen+T.Carroll+Daniels --> Sigurdsson+Fabregas+Holding (-4)

Hasn't played much because of the injury, Pep will want to give him as much time as possible. He's probably going to play 90 and 70 minutes or 90 and 75.

Pedro should start against WBA. If the league is won, there'll be a lot of rotation against Watford I think. Haz, Costa, Alonso, Luiz, Kante probably rested...Pedro could still start.

Best defender under 5.1? I've already got Yoshida Stephens Alonso Monreal

Is Bavies likely to play two games?
Go for the goal threat of Huth (mci TOT) or McCauley (CHE mci)? They both have torrid fixtures though.

Am in a semi-final of a cash mini-league. Have a similar side to my competitor; only differences (Him v Me):
    Cab - Pickford
    Monreal - Vert
    Holgate - Kone
    Pedro - King

    Thinking I'll do a) currently
    a) Haz + Kone to Fab + Komapny (-4)

Brought in Blind and Gabriel with my WC last GW, however it doesn't look like they'll play both games this DGW Gabriel didn't even play at all last week, who's the best option to get for Gabriel? Holding looks to be playing a lot lately in the Arsenal defense... only have 0.1m itb

thinking Kompany + Holding for -4

or maybe just holding for gabriel and keep blind because he started today

Maybe lose the more expensive option then use the cash elsewhere and play 3-5-2 in 38 with the cheaper option on the bench

Any other non Jesus owners out there and how concerned are you?
I'm not overly concerned especially after watching Jesus in the last game. The way Pep wants him to play could potentially limit his output?

As an owner, was totally unexcited by the last game. Some people blame lack of full fitness. Hope he rounds into shape soon, but won't captain, so not too fussed.

Yeah, it's funny that it's not being mentioned on here at all much. City were in sublime attacking form and he only got the one assist. A player like Sane was in the box way more if only he had his shooting boots on! Jesus was more involved with hold up play and drifing out wide to allow the wingers to cut inside. It could all change if Aguero is fit and Pep plays em both though!

    https://www.theguardian.com/football/2017/may/11/jurgen-klopp-liverpool-chelsea-sadio-mane-injuries

Just think Klopp has completely unraveled over these past few weeks. Think we may witness a complete meltdown if Liverpool fail to beat West Ham. Can't help but think he is tempting fate with comments like these. Fairly obvious that while they dropped a lot of points against mediocre opposition this year, they have also clearly overachieved against better opposition. Just see them finishing in the same position or worse next year and he may go completely insane.
