The Big Numbers – Gameweek 1

Time to roll out our first post-Gameweek delve into the 2017/18 members’ data and assess some of the stand-out performers over the opening round of matches.

Tottenham’s top scorer misses chances aplenty as the transfers-out pick up pace. Man City’s front two and Liverpool’s summer signing from Roma arrive for analysis, while Chelsea and Palace’s left wing-backs also make the cut thanks to forward-thinking performances.

    Zaha out for...

    A) RLC and Eriksen -4 (Eriksen set to rice)

    B) Ramsey (tough fixtures, half fit?)

    C) Ince

    D)Ritchie/Atsu

Ramsey is not tempting me too much. Im keen on Eriksen, he looked great and fires a lot of shots, RLC should be nailed, but not to keen on -4. Hmmm.. difficult

oh yeah nice one, so in terms of my squad value and for the future, can i do anything with them price rise values or does my team value just go up thats all?

Every 0.2m rise means that when you sell the player you get 0.1m extra. It can be a good way to squeeze out an extra 0.5m or 1.0m to spend on your squad further into the season...

ohhh right i get it now so it has to be 0.2m rise? and say for example mhki or mounie (players i have) blank this week then do well the following could they get another price rise so quick after the first one?

Yeah, you only get half the difference, rounded down. So, if they go up 0.5 you get 0.2 as it is half of 0.5 rounded down...

A player can go up a maximum of 0.3m in one week. It is determined mainly by transfer activity so players could in theory rise 0.3m every week until they hit 100% ownership

They can keep rising though, theoretically if all 100% were to dump a player in one day he would only drop 0.1m, then the rise can start anew!

if Lukaku has another brace, would nearly bank money on it he would get another price rise

I don't know why but I hate Ramsey pick as Zaha replacement. Most here seems to make that move but I don't know what to do.
Can play Mee but Zaha will loose 0.1 by Saturday for sure. Plan was to use 2FT next week like Zaha, Ritchie > Pogba, Atsu or something like this but don't want to make hits after first GW for God's sake!
Have that in mind if one of the ideas was to downgrade Ritchie to Atsu so maybe Zaha > Atsu now (even bench one of Newcastle mids) and upgrade Ritchie next week?
    What do you think?

I'm going to absorb the hit, play RLC and bank the transfer. Then if I want to downgrade elsewhere in the squad the 0.1 won't matter. I don't want to take a -4 at this stage in the season and switching to another 7.0 when the field looks so poor is an error, I think.

Close between Tadic and Redmond stats wise, I went for the latter, but both decent. Tadic maybe a little riskier as he often flatters to deceive, I may be biased from past experience though.

Morning lads. I did not take a hit on upgrading Zaha, but i have the masterplan ready.

Zaha -> Cork and 2,5ITB and play a 4-3-3 with Mee coming in from the bench.

    Next week:
Wijnaldum -> Alli or Eriksen (Alli will not rise atleast) and play a 3-4-3 with Mee on the bench again.

    Team atm:
    FoRster (Elliot)
    Valencia, Walker, Bertrand, Mee (Löwe)
KDB - Willian - Wijnaldum (Zaha) (Carroll)
    Mounie - Lukaku (C) - Lacazette

    Sounds good?

Ye well - if Eriksen rises so be it. Then i settle with Alli. Will not take a -4 hit after first week with my squad. I made a strong bench to cover injuries and be able to switch formations.

I can't see a Week i want to play RLC. I might consider playing Cork in one of the home fixtures. And then there is the price rise/fall. If CP gets smashed again this week and the next, then RLC will drop at some point (it's all a guess).
Does not really matter. Just want the most secure 4,5m mid who will not drop over the next many weeks.

I'm pretty comfortable with him until the international break. He is safe in 4 at the back formations, slightly less so in a 3, but still ahead of Sane IMO. Definitely from the start, though if they are needing a goal with half an hour left Danilo > Sane seems a likely move.

    What u think of going
Kane, Zaha, Alonso to Lacazette, Eriksen, Kolasinac?
    Not in one transfer ofc.
    That would give me this:
    Foster (Elliott)
    Stones Daniels Kola Bertrand (Hünemeier)
    KDB Eriksen Salah (RLC Caroll)
    Lukaku Lacazette Abraham

Decided not to take a -4 in upgrading Zaha to Mkhi, gambled on Redmond. Looked the most likely from Southampton. For GW2:

    DDG
    Danilo, Yoshida, Dann
    KDB, Willian, Redmond, Fraser
    Kane, Kaku, Firmino
    Bench: Elliot; Suttner, Carroll, Long

Undecided on captain, between Kane and Kaku. Suttner may come in for Dann but think Dann is a bigger attacking threat.

I essentially decided I'm unlikely to get Mkhi on a WC, and it's not worth a -4. I could easily be proven wrong though. Just don't think United will score 4 each week, that was the first time they'd done it under Mou. He is a pragmatist, once they go 2 up, or if they are comfortable at 1 sometimes, I still expect them to back off more often than not.

I was 90% I was going to save a transfer after GW1 but Zaha had the audacity to ruin it! Transfers done; line-up question below:

    DDG
    Monreal / Stephens / Yoshida / Mee
    KDB / Salah / Mhki / Fraser
    Kane / Lukaku (C)

Bench: Elliot // Abraham / Carroll / Rosenior

Currently opting for the 4-3-3 listed above, but would any of you prefer to play Abraham over Mee, for example?

I do like him & probably made a bit of a boo-boo picking him so early on, but a goal at United will be hard to come by. Agree?

      - He has a clause in his contract which dictates that he is not allowed to score in August. Something to do with goal bonuses.

      - He has been bricked into his house by accident. He won't be able to get out for a fortnight.

    4) Ritchie (GW1: 1 Chance Created, 0 SHot) On Penos, Fks, Corners [hud WHU swa STK]

Watch the games. (Google: full matches and shows) See who you think looks most dangerous. For me it was Redmond. The stats were too close between him and Tadic, and I'm not gambling on Rambo starting. JWP and Bertrand also took corners, and Yoshida?! Is surprisingly on direct free kicks in central areas.

ritchie for me, was never going to have many options against spurs and hes got great fixtures. whats your opinion on this? im
not sure whether to keep danilo and swap gabi/zaha for mounie/pogba
      or
take -8 hit and get rid of danilo/zaha/gabi and get cedric/mikky/mounie - do i take any hits or just swap zaha for a cheaper option?

I don't know what I can't stand more... 10 RMT's per page or 10 "Who shall I get for Zaha?" posts per page. I thought this incessant posting of exactly the same topic would end once the season started but alas, I was very much wrong... I guarantee if you are about to post about who you should get for Zaha, it is already on this page and the previous one and the one before that...

Can we talk about something else now please?

        RMT

        Zaha (Zaha)
        Zaha - Zaha - Zaha - (Zaha) - (Zaha)
        Zaha - Zaha - Zaha - Zaha - (Zaha)
        Zaha - Zaha - Zaha

I'm just worried about his price dropping. Set to lose 1.5m if he drops by the weekend. Might have to take a 56pt hit to get them all out...

I'd go for Wilfred Zaha-Peters myself. Bargain at 4.5m.

Of all of those I would go with Ramsey, better player in a better team. Game time possible a worry but he should start...

Sigurdsson looks a good signing for the Toffees once their fixtures ease

Yes he does, do you have any plans to get him in? I think 8.5m might just be a bit steep for him with players like Mkhi and Pogba in the cheaper bracket and Salah only 0.5m more.

I also don't know if he will be on pens at Everton with Wayne and Baines there but having said that he is always good for an assist or a goal.

Thanks - Currently leaning towards him.

Although I can see Palace scoring against Pool and RLC could be involved.
Also the bookies favor a Burnley CS over a Bournemouth CS.

I think Ince could be a good option too. Tadic would tempt me but had a very painful time with him in my team last year...

    Looking at the stats
Willian had 1 shot in 90 mins
    Doesn't bode well really?

Watch the game, he was Chelsea's best attacker even when down to 9 men. Alonso also impressive, so was Morata when he came on.

Willian should have had 2 assists, but Morata tried to steal a goal on the line and was ruled offside. Everything went through him.

It reminded me a bit of Chelsea 2 seasons ago, no matter how dire things get for Chelsea Willian always performs.

Don't settle on Ramsey, folks. He was a good fantasy asset playing alongside Ozil in a 4141, or wide right, but it's not the same as this double pivot in the 3421 Wenger has adopted.

Yes, against Leicester he looked very attacking. I think that was more to do with the score and Arsenal throwing the kitchen sink at them in search of an equaliser.

I know he's the same price as Zaha but spread your net wider.

Wenger says Mertesacker back, Sanchez not likely to be ready but should be fit to face Liverpool. Mustafi & Coquelin fit.

    Stupid question here.

Don't you get the money from the price rise when you sell the player that has risen in price while you had him?

    1. shaunyjames
      • 11 Years
      6 years, 8 months ago

You do but you get 0.1 for each 0.2 that the player rises

    2. Steve Stiffler
      • 7 Years

i just asked the same question and:

"Every 0.2m rise means that when you sell the player you get 0.1m extra. It can be a good way to squeeze out an extra 0.5m or 1.0m to spend on your squad further into the season..."

Kaku. The chance of him grapping some goals is bigger than with Kane IMO.
