The Gameweek 5 Team News

Jose Mourinho is set to be without the injured Paul Pogba when Manchester United face Everton. Sadio Mane is suspended for Liverpool’s home meeting with Burnley, while Burnley goalkeeper Tom Heaton is set for a long spell on the sidelines due to a shoulder injury.

Paul Pogba suffered a hamstring injury in Manchester United’s 3-0 win over FC Basel, and will miss the visit of Everton to Old Trafford on Sunday. The France international is set to be sidelined for at least a month, with Marouane Fellaini pushing for a start in his absence after scoring in the midweek win over Basel. Mourinho’s press conference later this afternoon will off the full prognosis.

Liverpool will be without the suspended Sadio Mane for the home encounter against Burnley. Jurgen Klopp could turn to Philippe Coutinho, on the left of the front three, with the Senegal international set to miss the next two Gameweeks.

Tom Heaton will be missing at Anfield. He has undergone surgery on the dislocated shoulder he suffered last Sunday and is set to be ruled out for a couple of months. Nick Pope will take over in goal for the trip to Anfield.

Ryan Fraser is expected to recover from an ankle injury to be fit for tonight’s home clash against Brighton & Hove Albion.

Meanwhile, Bruno (back problem) has been given the all clear and is fit for tonight’s encounter.

Mauricio Pellegrino will decide today whether Virgil van Dijk will be involved in Southampton’s trip to Crystal Palace after the defender played 90 minutes for the U23s on Monday. We await news from Roy Hodgson and the Eagles camp later today.

Steve Mounie is a doubt for Huddersfield Town’s home meeting with Leicester City due to a knock, but is expected to return to training today.

As for the Foxes, they have major doubts over both Matty James (hamstring) and Christian Fuchs (eye problem), but Craig Shakespeare has revealed that Kelechi Iheanacho and Vicente Iborra are available.

Geoff Cameron will miss the trip to Newcastle after suffering a hamstring injury, while Ryan Shawcross remains doubtful due to a back problem.

Marco Silva will be without Younes Kaboul (leg), Sebastian Prodl (hamstring) and Craig Cathcart (knee) for the home meeting with Manchester City, but both Roberto Pereyra and Kiko Femenia are available.

Oliver Burke (hamstring), Nacer Chadli (knock) and James McClean (illness) are doubts for West Bromwich Albion’s home encounter with West Ham United. Gareth McAuley was handed a run-out for the reserves earlier this week but Pulis conceded he will “have to wait and see” whether the Irishman is fit enough to face the Hammers.

Marko Arnautovic is available to take on the Baggies after completing his three-match ban, but Mark Noble (knee) has been ruled out.

Finally, Wilfried Bony is set to remain on the bench for Swansea City’s trip to Wembley as he continues to build up his match fitness.

All this and more has now been updated in the Team News section ahead of this evening’s 7pm deadline. Keep an eye on our official Twitter Stream for breaking news – as the day unfolds, we will issue updates from Friday’s press conferences and refresh our Team News tab accordingly to keep you informed.

Miki, Sterling or Silva for Pogba* ?

Not Sterling, as he is the least likely to play 90 minutes of them. Other two both seem like good options to me.

There was a HT on Pogba replacements and both Mkhi and Silva seemd popular, fwiw.

Only starting one of the two in any case, would mostly be the defender. Would you rather go:

    4.5 defender(Mee/Naughton?) +
    5.0 midfielder(Can/fernandinho/other?)

    Or

    5.0 defender (cresswell?) +
    4.5 midfielder(RLC?)

    Or

    4.5 defender +
    4.5 midfielder
and bank 0.5 for a rainy day?

I feel that the extra 0.5 spent in midfield will make little or no difference.

Not an Andy Carroll fan but I suppose West Hams fixtures are decent enough that he may bag a few goals. Don't really like any of the 4.5's you have, could you downgrade one to a 4.0 and then upgrade one of them to a 5.0 like Jones / Daniels / Dawson

I'd start Kolasinac this week, maybe ahead of Choupo.

Lee Chong Yung looks like he's playing. But it doesn't even matter really, you're banking on them never having to play at all, while your big 5 wing backs and big 3 up front are bossing the game week

Yup, I can see your point and Carroll is a good enough sub if someone gets rested; most of us have him (or similar) sat there. Think it would score well.

Mid is Alli / Ritchie / Choupo / Carroll

On WC. Looking at points per pound, defenders appear to be leading the race. As such, I'm thinking of investing heavily there with Alonso etc, as they are playing as midfielders alot of the time but without the price tag. Decent strategy or stick with the tried and tested of 3-4-3?

    2 FT £0.8 ITB

    a) Zaha & Willian > Mkhi & Chopu
    b) Zaha & Willian > Mkhi & Kante
    c) Kaku & Zaha > Morata & Mkhi
    d) ...?

    Any help appreciated!

I think that A is the best. I did Willian -> Choupo and Suttner -> Davies. The risk is that Choupo had only one good game (last Saturday). Mkhitaryan is a good player.

    DDG - Elliot

    Mee-Daniels-Stephens-Alonso-Long

    Richarlison-Ozil-Willian-Carroll-Millvojevic

    Kaku-Kane-Firmino

    1 FT & 0.4 ITB

Is this team in need of a wildcard? Any suggestions on how to use the FT?

    • 7 Years

    RP : DDG - Elliot
    Ake - Kolasinac - Davies - Clark
    Alli - Salah - Mooy - Carroll
    Kane(c) - Lukaku (0.0 ITB, -4)
    (Hunemeier - Pogs - Elliot - Quaner)

So obviously I was a little hasty with the transfers due to the price rises. Pogba is "the" slap on the face. Can I go ahead with this team for this week or should I take a -8 for anyone?

thinking of WC to this team. Thoughts? Do I not have enough allocated to forwards? I started top heavy with ok mid but have not got the output I want in midfield or by my forward line trying to balance as well as play the fixtures.

    Elliot Begovic
    Dawson, Goldson, Davies, Kolasinac, Jones
    Choupo-Moting, Carroll, Alli, Sanchez, Salah
