Technical Area – Budget Midfield Options

One key to a successful Fantasy season has always been the early discovery of a midfield gem.

The 2015/16 season saw Riyad Mahrez rise from relative obscurity to the heights of a 240-point season, while last campaign, Josh King’s 16 goals powered many Fantasy line-ups to the top of their respective mini-leagues.

After seven Gameweeks, we are beginning to accumulate sufficient data to begin making more confident assertions regarding a player’s underlying performance metrics.

This international break is, therefore, an ideal time to evaluate the potential candidates for the title of must-have budget midfielder this time around.

It also gives us the chance to roll out – for the first time in Technical Area – data on expected goals (xG) and assists (xA), a new source of information which will soon be available to our members.

Fellaini injury a bit of a problem for those on their WC. Their 5th mid is likely to be the same filth the rest of us not WCing are stuck with.

He's probably decent but is 5.0m. Tiny difference but 5th mids are ideally 4 point something.

He needs the ball earlier than he is getting it atm. If Ozil was playing he would flourish from his vision and ability to find a man.

Not slating him as he is a good finisher but the team is not playing to his strengths

Why are the suspension rules for these international tournaments always so unbelievably harsh? Who exactly are these geniuses at FIFA or UEFA would think that international football is made more interesting by suspending players for getting 2 yellow cards?

UEFA official: "I know what will make our big semi-final more attractive to viewers, suspending Aaron Ramsey for the game for two nonsense professional fouls! Viewers want to see Andy King in action."

Considering bringing in Hazard and Sanchez while the going is good and neither has exploded; I figure that they'll instantly be too expensive (more so than they already are) should either one/both bag a brace and/or multiple assists.

Still a little torn as I would be placing most of my eggs in one very unproven basket.

Thinking about almost the same thing.. but will add richarlison to a 4 man midfield.. can still afford 2 premium defenders..
Dont like a 4 man defence, it usually means you will have to play a 5th mid some gameweeks (4.5) or have to spend little extra on a 5th defender for rotation

Cyprus has been inhabited for centuries by both Greek and Turkish Cypriots, with the Greek Cypriots being in a large majority.
After independence from Britain, the Greek Cypriots wanted closer links with Greece while the Turkish Cypriots wanted closer links with Turkey.
Eventually the Greek Cypriots declared a coup d'état and denied the Turkish Cypriots continued representation in the Cyprus government, so the Turkish Cypriots broke away and formed their own state, Northern Cyprus, with Turkish military assistance.
Turkey is the only country that recognises Northern Cyprus.
Northern Cyprus may well use the Turkish national anthem - they certainly wouldn't the Greek one.
