Dugout Discussion – West Ham vs Brighton

A third Friday night kick-off of the season brings us to the London Stadium and a Gameweek 9 opener between West Ham and Brighton.

Sadly, the Fantasy interest in this fixture is somewhat limited.

The Hammers defence has kept three clean sheets in their last five Gameweeks, but that’s not been enough to keep left-back Aaron Cresswell in the starting XI.

Arthur Masuaku has been pushing for inclusion in recent Gameweeks, with impressive cameos from the bench that have brought two assists. He gets the nod tonight, with Cresswell dropping to the bench.

Elsewhere, Chicharito’s start always looked guaranteed once he was declared fit with Andy Carroll suspended. The Mexican – who is still owned by 15.7% – looks to be the lone striker in a 4-2-3-1, with an attacking trio of Michail Antonio, Manuel Lanzini and Marko Arnautovic patrolling behind.

Meanwhile Brighton – who make their second appearance on a Friday night – boast the 14.7% owned Pascal Gross.

He gained an assist at Bournemouth on his last Friday outing and has remained integral for the Seagulls, earning another assist in Sunday’s draw with Everton. He’s been involved in 83% of Brighton’s goals when on the pitch.

    Anyone thinking of using their 'Free Hit' chip next week (GW10)?

    I have triple spurs, double United and Tammy, not to mention 4 awful players i won't mention. I could replace them for a week and then have them all back as good as new for GW11.

    Thoughts? or is there another strategy that people are waiting for?

            Imagine having the majority of you team blanking that GW, but you don’t want to get rid of them (due to good fixtures next GW or price value). Hit that card, pick all the players that actually plays that GW (that are good/decent).
            Those that doesn’t have the card intact will try do to everything they can just to try and field 11 men, while you don’t have to take a single hit.
            And the best thing is, you won’t get stuck with those players you brought in for that specific GW, since your old team will be back the following GW. 🙂

        Free hit impacts on multiple gws, unlike other chips. It saves you the trouble of changing your team to prepare for a blank or even a double. Not saying it wouldn't be a powerful chip for gw 10 but imo that wouldn't be using it to its fullest potential. I think people get too fixated one getting a massive score for one gw that they forget around the others around it.

        It's actually far more powerful than BB or TC.

          Why wouldn't we have thought it through. You don't think we've thought about the short term benefits of an early free hit? In Conte We Trust and later GuyIncognito both explained exactly why despite the temptation to do so, it's not a good idea, remember all that planning for the blank gameweek? Moves being funnelled through a sieve of the big blank gameweek, all that taken away with a chip, too valuable to lose before then imho.

      Wait til week 32/33/34...there's normally a fixture bloodbath around the FA cup around there.

      Last season I think there was 4 fixtures played in one GW...would've been 3 had Burnley not got knocked out by some lower-league team.

      People spent six weeks beforehand trying to get a playing 9 or 10 that GW...this chip solves that waste of transfers.

      My mini league rival played that chip last gmwk and got 34 points,he got two own goals(azpi,walker)chelsea players blanked,strikers blanked and he lose TV by half a million.his original team got 55 points.save it for blanks,because you original team doesn't play

    Man it's tempting to make the switch 0.2m price swing if Kun rises and Kaku falls (11.7m sv). Not even a Kaku hat trick will keep me from selling him, Kane stays at least until gw11. I think I'll do it, if I get bitten, I get bitten and I'll take my -4 on the chin and get morata but these pennies add up eventually, TV key for the bench boost and improving the quality of the starting 11 later on. Hopefully I won't be eating point hit pie.

        Thiking of using my WC

        well I intend to mess around with it during the week to maximise rises but 4/5 could be 6/7 changes if I really want to mix it up but not too unhappy with the defense

        Basically want to get rid of Mkhi/Davies/Ayew get in 3 big forwards. I have Kane and Lukaku but could get rid of Kaku

        If on WC I would then change Carroll to RLC and perhaps look at my 4.5 defenders but not essential

              The price change is a gamble as we don't know what will happen, but I think I have held the WC the longest time ever that it has become a real battle to finally let it go.

              So many price changes it could work plus kaku/Ayew/Mkhi/Davis > Morata/Kun/Gros or Zaha/Daniels might not be possible later on.

                If you want to get rid of a lot of players with poor fixtures and a lot of your targets moving forward are rising then that seems fair to me. Otherwise it gets to a point when you think what if I need it next week and so on until it doesn't really give you the boost it could've done.

          If you're playing a 433 you can manage the def to cover for it, but I feel if playing 343 it unbalances your team too much to go with those three, so I prefer Kane, Aguero and Vardy/Firmino

          Tripling up is too much, keep your options open, but doubling up could certainly work out, especially from gw17 onwards

          I might double soon. But I would not discount triple up either. Problem is they surely can't maintain the current level of CS. From start of season to now would have been sweet triple up. I think DeGea and Jones might be enough.

        In a month I've ever so slowly weened Utd out of my team. I had Jones, Mkhi and Lukaku. Now I currently have Lukaku but I'm likely to sell him to Aguero.
