Sky Sports Focus

Time to take a look back at the Sky Sports weekend action before preparing you for the incoming Gameweek.

We’ll examine the recent run of Man of the Match (MoTM) awards, the bonus point beneficiaries, transfer trends and Watchlist, before moving on to the Scout team and our plans over this busy period.

Gameweek 19 Man of the Match Awards

These were the players who caught the eye of the Sky Sports reporters and earned an extra five points as a result.

FixtureMoTM
Leicester vs Crystal PalaceWilfried Zaha
Brighton vs BurnleyMatthew Ryan
Stoke vs West HamMarko Arnautovic
Chelsea vs SouthamptonMarcos Alonso
Watford vs HuddersfieldAaron Mooy
Arsenal vs NewcastleMesut Ozil
Man City vs SpursKevin De Bruyne
West Brom vs Man UnitedNemanja Matic
Bournemouth vs LiverpoolAlex Oxlade-Chamberlain
Everton vs SwanseaIdrissa Gueye

Our Watchlist tips Wilfried Zaha and Mesut Ozil continued to perform in a week largely dominated by midfielders.

In fact, the men in the middle made up eight of the ten awards, with forwards earning none. A sign of the times for many who, like myself, have adopted a 4-5-1 formation due to misfiring strikers.

A special mention to Kevin De Bruyne – once again – who now has six MoTM awards and sits at the summit of the table alongside Mohamed Salah.

Gameweek 19 Bonus Points

Let’s take a look at any player to earn 26 points or more in bonus for the season

Watchlist

Here I aim to highlight a few differential players with low ownership who I think could be good options for the coming six weeks.

Three specific price brackets will be used to cater for our available budgets.

The players will evolve with fixtures and form, and offer Fantasy managers a nudge in (hopefully) the right direction.

Notes

A drop of seven places ends a run of rank jumps, but I’ll take it.

I was up to 120th just before Everton played on Monday night when I went without a single player or captain, so a drop was always on the cards.

I resisted the urge to bring in Jonjoe Kenney, who again managed tackle bonus and even an assist, but thankfully for me he also failed to keep a clean sheet.

This might be a mistake as, at just 4.3, he’s been the best value player over the last five weeks by quite some distance.

As I alluded to last week, I would likely drop Joe Gomez for him and then upgrade Richarlison to David Silva or Raheem Sterling.

Although I think the second pair is probably better, it seems something of a vanity move when Gomez (and in particular the heavily-owned Richarlison) could easily punish me in the weeks to come.

With Man City due to play late in the Gameweek for the next couple, I may wait to see if Richarlison sparks back into life or not before I make the move to get the extra player.

It also helps that the City line-ups will be available before I make the swap.

Another consideration is an Arsenal player in order to have a captain for Thursday.

Unfortunately I can’t afford Mesut Ozil in one or two trades, so I’m unlikely to go that route.

Of course I’m hoping Richarlison’s form improves to the point where I don’t have to make any transfers.

This means I’ll likely be going into this weekend with no Sterling, which certainly makes me feel uneasy. I just hope I can hold my nerve.

Captain Plan

Fri 22nd – Salah (ars)
Sat 23rd – De Bruyne (BOU)
Tues 26th – Hazard (BHA)
Weds 27th – de Bruyne (new)
Thurs 28th – ?

Monreal to Christensen for a hit?

I got Monreal at 5.4 so I can sell him for 5.6, exactly what I would pay for Christensen.

Point wise I am expecting 2 from Monreal and 6 from Christensen so it should be the same. The question would be: who is better in longer term?

I dont know whats the stats say but Im tempted to do Hazard --> KDB as Hazard faces solid everton side who has 3 cs in last 5 conceding only 2 goals.and is without Morata

Meanwhile Bournemouth with 0 cs in last 5 conceding 10 goals and played almost full team last night in the cup and could be leggy

To all the Kane to Kun questions.... it has to be about how you are navigating the blank/dgw and whether you have wildcard/freehit and also whether you intend to use them to navigate. So it can't just be a Kane to Kun yes or no I'm afraid!

Wildcard nearly final draft, please rip apart if required

    DDG
    Alonso - Christensen - Otamendi - Smalling
Salah - Coutinho - Sterling (VC) - Pogba - Richarlison
    Aguero (C)

    Speroni - Ogbonna - DCL - Quaner

£1.3m ITB to upgrade Aguero to Kane for DGW

Have been tempted by KDB and keeping Hazard but worried about spending £10m+ and then either getting rested. Appreciate same could happen to Aguero but Bournemouth home is so tempting

Good team but I would not double up on Chelsea defence, you seem to be "timid" there; getting their most prolific and cheapset/guaranteed. I would choose one of them and take a risk elsewhere, perhaps even keep more money in the bank. You will need it during the festive period. But good team, yeah.

Interesting. I was wondering about Christensen and wondering whether it might be rotated at some point too as they have quite a lot of CBs!

I can downgrade him to Zanka (good fixtures and would bench him most weeks) and upgrade Coutinho to Hazard and still have 0.6m in bank? Again worried on Hazard minutes...as I am with Couts!

No no no; keep Coutinho; he will always be better value than Hazard and help you to beat Hazardful teams... You may consider Liverpool or West Ham defences too... Your midfield is a beauty, don't touch it...

Ha ha, OK! The idea was to get a load of £8 - 9m midfielders as I'm not sure on value of KDB and Hazard, as good as they are, if they're worth the extra money!

Might keep Christy for now and get his rise tonight, he's got good fixtures, just whether he gets rotated!

I envy you with your WC! Your team looks very nice, and what better opportunity to have a punt with Aguero. If Kane/Spurs don't soon start to look better then you can always switch horses. Maybe Rooney will look a possibility when his fixtures improve. Richarlison might need upgrading. Coutinho might be off in Jan. Still a great squad.
      Good luck.

Thanks Old Man! I did resist playing my wildcard about 5 times...wanted to save it for as long as poss and just took a few hits every now and then instead!

Aguero is punty but he does seem to be preference over Jesus at the moment. No chance I'll get 4 x 90 mins on him over Christmas but I'm hoping he just goes mental one game!

Richarlison I am going to keep a bit longer, good fixtures and he might get back in the points if Watford can keep 11 on the pitch!

Isn't Hünemeier very unlikely to start?

It's either him or Goldson this week, that comes in for Duffy. May as well prepare as if he does start.

I'd have DCL of having the higher ceiling of them three this GW and I'd like to see Pogba's game against Leicester before bringing him in, by all accounts he was poor against Brizzle and I remember Aguero coming back from suspension last season and being shocking for a month.

Zanka , Kenny, Dann or Mee for Tarkowski? Need them for GW19 (this GW) and GW21, Ogbonna will play most other weeks.

    Zanka - sot, BUR
    Kenny - CHE, bou
    Dann - swa, MCI
    Mee - TOT, hud

Could do Hünemeier>Holgate/Mariappa as well and keep Tarkowski, Tarkowski has to drop twice for me to lose value. Holgate best pick there?

    Gtg?

    DDG

    Otamendi - Christensen - Mee - Ogbonna - 3.9

    Salah - Sterling - Hazard - Richarlison - Zaha

    Kane - DCL - Gray/Depoitre

Not sure on the 3rd striker, but he will be benched most of the times anyway
