Scout Notes

Scout Notes – Relentless Kane Rolls On

Harry Kane emphatically breaks more records and the hearts of those Fantasy managers who risked turning their back on his talents ahead of an impending blank.

The Spurs striker made it back-to-back hat-tricks from a blisteringly productive festive schedule so far. In doing so, he shattered Alan Shearer’s Premier League record for goals in a calendar year.

Those Fantasy managers who showed patience and held on to Kane will be overjoyed, but now have another difficult decision ahead of them.

They will face a dilemma with a second consecutive 17-point to sweeten the pill, but two hat-tricks in the space of three days cannot shift the fact that Kane now has a blank to come.

More than 131,000 managers had brought him in for the 5-2 win over Southampton regardless of that blank, with 1,161,712 making him the most-captained player of Gameweek 20.

They are now part of a 41.2% Fantasy Premier League (FPL) ownership that must decide whether to stick or twist on the forward.

Chelsea’s Alvaro Morata is an obvious replacement for Gameweek 21, and he made his case with a first goal since Gameweek 15. To add to the Spaniard’s appeal, the Blues entertain Stoke City next and the Potters, already without Kurt Zouma, saw their skipper Ryan Shawcross limp off today.

But the downside of selling Kane involves cost – in both price and transfers expended.

His value is on the move. It rose to 12.9 ahead of Boxing Day and could increase again before Gameweek 21 with a number of managers either oblivious to, or simply not caring about, his blank.

Some 33,000 have already transferred him in for his non-existent Gameweek 21, so should his price rise again, those selling him could lose profit as well as the two transfers the transaction will cost – assuming, that is, that they bring Kane back for fixtures with Swansea City and West Ham. That is surely a given.

Ignoring Kane for that upcoming pair of attractive fixtures seems untenable. He will be the most-captained for Gameweek 22 and, those with the Triple Captain chip in hand will surely consider putting it in play on the back of Kane’s confidence and devastating form.

Spurs Midfield stake their claim

Kane isn’t the only member of Mauricio Pochettino’s squad who warrants consideration ahead of the double-header.

Son Heung-min is building a convincing case.

The midfielder started his sixth straight match against Southampton and produced a goal, two assists and a bonus point for a second double-digit haul of that run.

In fact, Son has managed four goals and as many assists from those six matches and although he’s currently the fourth most bought player despite the blank Gameweek 21, he’s still only owned by 3.9%.

Previously far more popular, Dele Alli (11.5%) is also enjoying a min-revival.

He followed up his brace of assists at Burnley with two more, and a goal, against the Saints, with two bonus points pushing his Gameweek tally to a season’s best 15.

Son’s 8.0 price and his considerably more consistent recent form will ensure that the South Korean is favoured, with Alli reduced to an unlikely Gameweek 22 differential.

The same will probably apply to Christian Erisken. The Dane’s assist was dwarfed by other performances, but marked a fifth return in six Gameweeks.

Elsewhere, it remains difficult to justify investment in the Spurs defence.

Pochettino’s rotation policy concerning his wing-backs is now confusing everyone but him, with Serge Aurier (0.5%) handed a second straight start – and his third in four matches – as Kieran Trippier (5.8%) joined Ben Davies on the bench.

With the points potential of Spurs’ wing-backs now difficult to predict, the side’s lack of defensive stability – they’ve kept just two clean sheets since Gameweek 12 – further dampens the appeal of recruitment for the forthcoming double.

Is it right time to use triple captain for Kane at dgw? I just can't find any player worth for TC except Kane. Less rotation, explosive points, almost 50% goals for his club made by him.

I would use free hit when there are only 5-7 matches in a week like last season, that would be more useful rather than for dgw

Spurs for me hasn't done well against defensive teams this season - which in turn affects Kane's output.

Swansea and West Ham are probably bringing the biggest bus they have, plus he might not start 1 out of the 2 games.

      Kane (C) for me.

      Shameless repost.

Really struggling with DGW planning. I don't see how should I use my FT here. Every player has a good/decent fixture.

      Courtois
      Ota Kenny Kabasele Duffy
      Hazard (c) Salah Sterling Richarlison
      Morata DCL

      Elliot RLC Kane* Ogbonna*
      2 FT, 0.9 ITB

Arnautovic in for Richarlison looks like a good move I'll do for sure. Only way to work in Spurs mid would be to drop Hazard. Don't mind that, Chelsea double is worthless. Would rather keep Haz than Morata though.

simple. Kane for Aguero and then back again as you'll still have two free transfers

Similar teams we have but I only have 1FT so I can save. In your situation maybe take out kabasele out for a burnley defender yes they have horrible fixtures atm but the defence they have is very solid. If you want to after fixtures maybe a Huddersfield defender or if you can afford it a defender from a big 6 club. Your team looks very solid overall and honestly doesn't need a transfer but better to use one than burn it imo. Good luck with whatever you end up going with

dont think you need double Chelsea defence so maybe courtois down to Adrian kabasele up to Alonso and then either morata down to firmino or hazard down to spurs mid possibly?

Agreed. Morata would have to stay short term.

Courtois -> Adrian (play Elliot next GW) would mean I have funds for

              Haz -> Eriksen
              Richarlison -> Arnautovic
Kabasele -> Alonso -4 but could be done after Arsenal

Is Adrian going to play both games though. If I do Courtois to Pickford, I would have to bring in Son instead of Eriksen.

Thanks for commenting, helps with the planning 🙂

Very likely Hazard. Stoke is in bad shape and missing many of their first choice defenders. I've been very fortunate with him unlike other who brought him in later. Brought in on my wc gw8 and he captaining him saved couple GWs for me. Avg captaincy return with Haz is 18.x for me 🙂

I probably will. Having missed out on his last two hauls it's a great way to recover points. I don't see a better time to use it. Liverpool sliced Swansea open at will last night and Spurs could do the same. Will you use it?

Hey guys, I need to Kane, Son, Alonso and Arnie in my life over the next two GWs. 2 FT and am willing to take a -4 hit in GW22 so I can get all four. Is this the best way? I know it seems daft getting Son when he has a blank but he enables Alonso who is a points machine.

      GW21 - Christensen & Silva > Alonso & Son
      GW22 - Haz & Morata > Arnie & Kane

      DDG
      Ota - Jones - Christ - Kenny
      Salah - Sterling - Silva - Haz - Rich
      Morata

      Speroni - DCL - Ogbonna - Okazaki

Alonso is playing wide midfield, taking free kicks, is a goal threat and gets clean sheet bonus. I will probably bring Christ back in GW23/24 if Jones keeps conceding.

I'd be happy with both Alonso and Christ and no Haz/Morata after Stoke. Christ also not a certainty to recover in time for Stoke so a risk worth taking

not sure whether to be happy or sad

      captained Morata not Kane

53 but 5 still left (Speroni, Otamendi, Cheek, Sterling, Sane)

nothing on bench if rotation hits though

went from 70k to 90k but hoping for a green arrow tonight

You often play a bit contrary....unless I'm mixing you up with someone else in Jonty's Captain Hot topics.

On the plus side at least you had Kane.

not nailed. I would say 1st choice for now. Depends where Pogba plays. Currently way too deep so if Jose pushes him up and plays Herrera that means no Lingard/Mata.

Yeah been looking at him, he's not necessarily gong to be benched every week just think that him and Crouch have as much chance of scoring as DCL ay a cheaper price

I keep hearing the argument that Kane might not be the best use of TC because so many are likely to do it, and you're not likely to rise through the rankings as much as if you triple captained a 'differential' later on in the season.

Such a ridiculously flawed argument. I will be triple captaining Kane because we have, right here, right now, a guaranteed golden opportunity to do so and if he plays both (which I think he will) he could run riot in both fixtures. His points potential is outrageous and I don't care how many others are doing it.

Put it this way, would you rather TC Kane for 75 points now, assuming 80% will also do so, or TC someone else for 60 points later in the season, assuming 20% also do so?

And those are just examples - there's obviously no guarantee Kane will outscore every other TC captain - it's unlikely in fact. In terms of current expectation though, with everything we know in the here and now - he's miles in front for me.

Just C him and you're fine. Save TC for a differential so move up the rankings.

Maybe I'll get a reply this time,

      A) Christensen or Alonso

Alonso's attacking returns can be fantastic, but is expensive and if Chelsea get Sandro, will he be rotated??

      B) going Pogba+ Richarli to son+Arnie for the double week

Afterwards if hazard is still bad do
Hazard+DCL to firmino + Lingard maybe?

Need advice guys as I'll have to plan differently for getting firmino .

      Thanks
