Please use this article to post your Rate My Team (RMT) queries and any questions regarding team selection and our panel will join the discussion to provide input on as many as possible.

The surgery will open run from 9pm until 11pm.

Here’s some quick house rules to read before you post:

  • Please do not spam post – we will scan the pages and try to address as many queries as possible. Spamming your post will get them removed so please be patient.
  • Please be as specific as possible with questions. While we’d love to give an opinion on your entire squad, it’s more effective to sum up your current dilemmas and questions regarding your current selection.

    Hi all. This is my first RMT request. The GK and defenders rotate well until GW9 according to a little code I wrote, but I'm not discarding an early WC because of the transfer window / international games. Here it is:

    Adrian / Butland
    Mertesacker / Williams / Huth / Coates / Francis
    Hazard / Silva / Mane / Ritchie / Redmond
    Aguero / Gomis / Deeney (I'll switch Aguero to Costa if he looks like he's gonna miss GW1, then buy him as soon as possible)

    I'm happy to get any comments, but most of all on two issues:
    1) Should I look to downgrade Ritchie/Redmond and invest somewhere else?
    2) I'm starting with Hazard because he's on everyone's team, but am I the only one on the lookout for a chance to sell him and improve elsewhere?

      Gomis fixtures not the best - might want to look at downgrading Silva to spread a bit more cash around.

      Big Hazard fan so will probably start with him but if you have other captain options then you could go without

    Everyone...for the love of God, do NOT include Ozil in your RMTs. Despite myself, I've owned this bug-eyed troll in fantasy U21s, fantasy Euros, fantasy World Cups, fantasy Champions leagues and fantasy Premier leagues and NOT ONCE have I caught this guy on a good day - it's impossible. Never again will I let him darken my door again and neither should you, trust me.

    Walcott - quite possibly; Cazorla & Ramsey - less possibly: Sanchez certainly (make plans): Just NOT Ozil.

      I only consider it because wenger refuses to bench him and he's central i think now. I'd much prefer to pick ramsey if he was played there.

      I think it may be a little too "rigid", I like my teams a bit more flexible. I would consider downgrading Lukaku (who has a tough run after GW1) to someone like Sakho or Deeney and improve elsewhere. For example, finding a 4.5 GK to rotate with Ruddy so you're not completely in the hands of the Norwich GKs

      Double Arsenal midfield may be a bit risky for some - maybe look at MCI or MUN or even Fabregas if you have doubts. Otherwise looks pretty decent, though I might be tempted to get a rotating keeper with Ruddy.

      I am not certain on Matthews, but I feel like the answer is no. No need for 3 Che, for me move fab to Sterling and get more coverage, your going to wildcard in a couple weeks anyways. Just my thoughts.

        Thanks for the response - I feel like Fab is important to keep as he always does better in the first half of the season and am not too concerned about having 3 Chelsea players.

        May look elsewhere for another 4.5 defender.

      Forward line is a little light but you make up for it in midfield with 2 decent defenders. I'd be a little worried about your cheap defenders but it is what is needed for your current choice of attackers.

      I would downgrade Fab to Hendo/Milner/Chadli/Tadic/Payet/Siggi, and consider upgrading Sakho to an 8M forward and/or move the 4.0s > 4.5's. I guess I HAVE done that -- we have very similar teams!

    Do you think it's possibly to fit Aguero, Rooney and Hazard into a team with the right balance in remaining positions? Defence seems too weak in my current team:

      Definitely possible - might take some working around though. You'd have to opt for a 5.5m midfielder probably.

    Everyone seems to be ditching Rooney for Aguero but could Rooney + 2.5m score better than him? Allows you to keep that premium defender/midfielder.

      Nothing wrong with that side.

      Although you could save a could of quid on your defence, remember 2 of them are likely to be sat on your bench each week and ramp up your strikers eg Defoe.

      Not sure you want curtois and azpi.

      Not a sterling fan me, but he could flourish at City.

      Try and upgrade Defoe where you can.

    How important is 'balance' in a team?

    I can get Rooney, Aguero, Hazard & Ozil in a team. Defence is Azpi plus x4 4.5s

      I think balance could be helpful in making transfers -- like priced for like priced. This way, you limit the likelihood of needing 2 transfers to get a streaking player. However, the game is about points, and first priority is fielding a team that you think will get maximum points over a defined time period.

    All right, quite happy with my team and feel it's fairly well balanced, but there are questions in there obviously:

    - Do I have the right GKs?
    - Backline is fine? Might do Caulker now though.
    - Mid: No Haz of course, but too much spend on 5th mid? I like Ritchie since he rotate with Deeney.
    - Front: Too light? Plan is Roo > Kun and Silva > Depay (or similar)

    Anyways:

    Myhill - Guzan
    Azpic - Kos - Alderw - Cedric - Martin/Bassong
    Fab - Walcott - Hendo - Silva - Ritchie
    Sakho - Roo - Deeney

    Plan B is Silva > 4.5 and Roo - Kun - Deeney up front.

    Hi all,

    First ever RMT, so here goes:

    Fabianski / Schmeichel
    Clyne, Cedric, Azpi / Lescott, Richards
    Fabregas, Sterling, Walcott, Depay, Ritchie
    Pelle, Benteke / Sakho

    Keepers are expected to rotate through the season. Clyne and Azpi should stay relatively constant with the other three defenders rotating too.

    I'm pretty happy with the overall strength without putting a huge amount of money into any one player vs another, but should I be looking to include a big-money forward or Hazard to start off with? I'd rather have solid rotations than any 4.0ms just to make up space.

    This is more a long-term lineup than a "six weeks then wildcard" idea, but I'd welcome a shove in that direction if needs be. Thanks!

      I do think that you need a big hitter. You have all the 9.0 mids but there are a few shouts from 7.0 up that should cover well. Also Clyne seems a bandwagon to me. Most of his points came from clean sheets at a different club but his ownership is over 40%. He will do well at LFC but I don't want him this early

        Thanks for the feedback! I'm a little shaky on Clyne as a starter, but his tackle stats were pretty good from last season and he's not a huge investment at 5.5.

        A few 9.0s to 7.0s and a big hitter sounds sensible enough - I'll give it a look, thanks!

    I know Saylor probably won't start, but reckon Targett might not, the defence is very cheap other than Mert. Do you think I've gone too cheap at the back?

      Taylor is unlikely to start and Targett is very short term so unless you want to early wildcard I'd maybe re-think that.

      Keep an eye on Costa in charity shield to see if he starts and how he's looking otherwise some nice big hitters.

      Silva to Sterling could free funds if needed.

        Cheers Andy, yeah the defence is pretty threadbare, good idea on the Silva downgrade, will look at that, I'm kinda hoping a playing 4.0 def will emerge from GW1.

    Hello - Please RMT. Below is my team for GW 1 but generally it's the team I'm using up to the first 8 GW's. My main issue is how I could afford to bring in Aguero for weeks 4-8 and potentially Hazard. I've taken Hazard out and put him back in countless of times! He's a huge question mark because of his value and because he's the highest point scorer...so should I have him in at the start and change my team around to accomodate him?
    I'm relatively happy with my team so far however I'm reconsidering Pantillimon, Clyne to save money, although the rotation of the keepers work well. Considering using a starter keeper and reserve such as ruddy/rudd. I wanted Ivanovic but can't find a way to justify his pricetag!
    I feel that Prodl and Bassong works well as a roation pairing but the other question mark is who the other 4.5 def should be...

    Any comments will be very appreciated!

      I always try to base my side on 3-4-3, so I would start on that premise.

      Keepers are fine.

      Defence is quite weak IMO. Need some Chelsea.

      Then perhaps downgrade a midfield player to strengthen in there or up top ?

    Mertesacker, Azpiclueta, O'Shea, Prodl, Francis
    Walcott, Ozil, Hazard, Chadli, Wanyama
    Rooney, Pelle, Sakho

    I'm worried about Mertesacker's playing time. Should I not worry or should I downgrade to Cedric and either upgrade Wanyama to 5.0 or upgrade one of the other defenders to PVA/Alderweireld?

      Try get Hazard in, maybe drop Depay for a cheaper mid and upgrade Fabregas. Not sure Baker is nailed on.
