Nicolaou Claims FPL Crown

Dimitri Nicolaou has finally been crowned Fantasy Premier League (FPL) champion for 2015/16 after Manchester United and Bournemouth belatedly brought the curtain down on the season last night.

A member of the Fantasy Football Scout league, Dimitri went into the Old Trafford match level with Jack Manners and eight points clear of Ed Masters after the latter pair clawed back significant ground thanks to a 26-point haul from captain Sadio Mane in Southampton’s win over Palace on Sunday.

Dimitri, meanwhile, was left on edge after the decision to play his All Out Attack chip backfired when Jurgen Klopp opted to leave Philippe Coutinho out of Liverpool’s clash with West Brom on Sunday.

Louis van Gaal’s full-strength team sheet eased Dimitri’s fears. Whereas Jack had no players in last night’s match, Dimitri was able to call upon both Chris Smalling and Marcus Rashford for the showdown against Eddie Howe’s side. Ed, meanwhile, was banking on a standout performance from his sole representative, David de Gea, to stand any chance of clambering to the summit.

Smalling did little to help Dimitri’s cause, though. His late own goal not only denied De Gea a share of the Golden Glove and scuppered Ed’s prospects, it saw the centre-half register zero points in the 3-1 home win.

Instead, it was left to Rashford to help seal victory for the new champion. The youngster’s goal and two bonus points earned his owners eight points and saw Dimitri succeed Simon March as the latest to claim the FPL title.

Congratulations go to Dimitri, then, who can now breathe easy after a nerve-jangling 48 hours brought on by Sunday’s postponement. A special mention also goes to Ed – a site regular who posts under the name “Mo Mane Mo Problems”, he finished top of the Fantasy Football Scout members league – whilst Jake Yates also made it another successful season for the site by taking fourth overall.

    Mid:
    Idk lol all Ik is I want to have alli(6.5) and perisic(7.5) and Rafa Silva(4.5) idk who to pick for other big mids
    Fwd:
    Ibra(11.0) ; Lewa (11.5) ; Shaqiri/Janko (8.0/7.5)

    That is 78.5-79.5 depending on choice of kosc/varane and shaq/Janko so who do I spend on for 21.5-20.5 for mids and considering I don't pick the two highest mids I'll still have around 4m left so who do I upgrade thank you

    BTW this is a matchday 1 squad I'm wildcarding after mday 1 that's why I don't have any Germany yet lol

    Best ever season with an OR of 2454. Unfortunately finished 2nd in my country by 12 odd points after leading up until GW37, all down to going without PVA :/ . Oh well, good season all in all. Thanks to everyone on here for their help over this season

    Spain: de Gea/Casillas; Juanfran, Sergio Ramos, Pique, Jordi Alba; Busquets, Thiago, Iniesta, Fábregas, David Silva; Alcácer.

    de Bosque will probably start Casillas over de Gea, the back four seems fine although Carvajal might slot in at right-back. I'm confident that Busquets & Iniesta will start from the front six, that'show many good options there are besides them.

    Czech Republic: Čech; Kadeřábek, M Kadlec, Sivok, Limberský; Pavelka, Darida; Dočkal, Rosický, Krejčí; Necid.

    Now; this is a weird one. Suchy was a mainstay throughout qualifying but looks set to be ousted by captain Sivok. Injury prone Rosický isn't injured he should have once last hurrah on the international stage as Czech Republic's attacking playmaker. 2012 hero Gebre Selassie will unfortunately warm the bench this summer.

    Turkey: Babacan; Gönül, Aziz, Balta, Erkin; İnan, Özyakup; Çalhanoğlu, Tufan, Arda Turan; Yılmaz/Çalhanoğlu.

    Çalhanoğlu has played as a forward recently but he's an attacking midfielder by trade and may drop into midfield. Aziz is an injury concern, otherwise relatively settled side.

    Croatia: Subašić; Srna, Ćorluka, Vida, Vrsaljko; Perišić, Modrić, Kovačić, Rakitić; Mandžukić, Kalinić.

    Brozović is a contender for a midfield spot, Pjaca could start over Kalinić if Croatia opt for a 4-5-1 over a 4-4-2. Fancy Vrsaljko to start in the left back slot as both Pranjic & Pivaric who played there during qualifying are not in the squad.
