The Weekend Team News

Matt Phillips remains sidelined for West Brom’s trip to Everton, while Winston Reid and Jose Fonte are expected to be fit for West Ham’s visit to Bournemouth. Eddie Howe will make a late decision on Simon Francis but Kyle Naughton misses out for Swansea City’s clash against Hull City.

Tony Pulis revealed this morning that Matt Phillips has failed to recover from a hamstring injury in time to face Everton at Goodison Park tomorrow. The West Brom head coach also intimated, without naming names, that one or two players might be in need of a “little rest.”

Dominic Calvert-Lewin is available again for Everton’s home clash against West Bromwich Albion, but Muhamed Besic and Yannick Bolasie remain out for the Toffees.

A late decision is expected to be made on the fitness of Bournemouth captain Simon Francis, who has missed the Cherries’ last two matches due to a hamstring injury. Bournemouth will be without the suspended Tyrone Mings and Andrew Surman for the home fixture against West Ham United, while Junior Stanislas looks set to remain with a groin injury.

Winston Reid and Jose Fonte are expected to be available for West Ham United’s trip to Bournemouth, while Michail Antonio is back in contention after missing the 2-1 defeat to Chelsea due to suspension. Andy Carroll and Robert Snodgrass suffered cuts during Monday night’s 2-1 defeat to Chelsea, but they are set to be available.

Kyle Naughton has been ruled out for the trip to face Hull City, but Ki Sung-yeung and Jefferson Montero have returned to full training, and could be involved at the KCOM Stadium.

Roberto Firmino is a doubt for Liverpool’s clash with Burnley, with Jurgen Klopp confirming that the Brazilian is set to be assessed. Jordan Henderson and Daniel Sturridge remain out for Sunday’s match.

There are also four FA Cup quarter-finals over the next three days, with Premier League sides Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City, Manchester United, Middlesbrough and Tottenham Hotspur all in action.

Danny Welbeck and Alex Iwobi are both doubts for Arsenal’s home tie against non-league Lincoln City due to illness, while Arsene Wenger revealed he hasn’t decided whether Mesut Ozil will be involved, with the German midfielder having only just recovered from a sickness bug himself.

Calum Chambers and Daniel Ayala will both miss tomorrow’s quarter-final against Manchester City, while George Friend is also expected to be sidelined due to a recurrence of a calf problem.

All this and more has now been updated in the Team News section ahead of tomorrow’s deadline. Keep an eye on our official Twitter Stream for breaking news – as the day unfolds, we will issue updates from Friday’s press conferences and refresh our Team News tab accordingly to keep you informed.

Holebas to Baines worth another 4 pts? I'll play him for the next two weeks and then WC out.

depends on the amount of total hits so far?

Does it? Surely it's a case of is he more likely to recoup the -4 point hit.

In my opinion, if you don't have 11, probably worth hit, I can see Everton getting clean sheet.

Yes imo. Holebas doesn't play and if Baines does it technically only a 2 point hit. This week when there are so many not playing, it's not like you are taking a hit for somebody who is already playing. I'm taking a 12 point hit to give me 9 players. Otherwise I'd only have 6 starters. Just have to wait n see if the 6 points I lose in transfers will be made up.

Would like your thoughts gents. Here’s the team…

    Jakupovic
    Brunt Amat Coleman
    Mane(vc) Snodgrass Siggy Carroll
    Kun* Lukaku(c) Ibra*
    Subs: Foster Sterling* Friend* Alonso*
    0.5ITB / 1FT

    So...

    A) Amat & Friend > Olson & Robertson (gives me 10 players)
    or
    B) Sterling > Coutinho (gives me 9 players, no hit)

    Cheers

Yeh agree, the problem I have is that Amat (never picked) and Friend (always injured) don't play much, so I'm relying on Brunt, Alonso and Coleman with no bench cover.

If yes then firmino is training today hopefully as per his statement saying he couldn't train until now

As Numb says above, be careful with quotes from foreign folk. 'Until now' may mean 'has not trained yet'

So that means he is training now....if klopp press was before training or after training....thats the dilemmma

    2. Numb
      • 9 Years
      7 years, 2 months ago

As I said before, foreign managers mean "up to now" when they say "until now" not like we would mean in English that he hasn't been training but is now.

Liverpool are in only one competition. So not many games. Klopp will want his best team on the field to stay in the race for a 4th spot. It's just a hunch but I think he will play on sunday.

That's true, next game being the 26th too, it could just be a move to deceive Burnley. Planning for Firmino and planning for their other options would be quite different. Cheers

Arggggh Firmino injury doubt. Second hit to shift Aguero to Carroll, bringing Kane back next week so -2 or hopefully better. Wise?

    Jaku

    My team for GW 28:

    Jaku
    Baines Mcauley
    Antonio Firmino Siggy mane
    Llorente lukaku

Bench: yoshida, rose, graban, Cahill, cech, Phillips.

0 ft and already did a -4 hit. 4.3 itb

Please I need help, what should I do now for gw28 and the game weeks coming after?

Maybe stay with 9players playing, or I could go for Coleman, Clyde or another option.

Looking to get rid of Phillips for someone of equal or lower price (he's worth 5.4m) for me.

Ideally looking for someone who will play this week. Davies, Carroll, Feghouli all options. I'd like Feghouli, but I'm worried he may not start now that Antonio/Carroll are available.
