The Knee Jerk – Gameweek 33

With the day billed as a head-to-head between Harry Kane and Romelu Lukaku, it was the Spurs man who ultimately came out on top – rewarding those who move to adopt him early to maximise his potential as a short-term differential.

The gap was six points – hardly a huge margin but enough to elevate Kane’s status and ensure that he’s currently second only to Zlatan Ibrahimovic – with Manchester United’s two fixtures – for transfers in ahead of Gameweek 34 so far.

In contrast, Lukaku looks destined for an ownership loss as traffic moves to Ibrahimovic: there is already a deficit with only Diego Costa, and Jamie Vardy sold more among forwards at this point.

Selling Lukaku remains a scary prospect – with 12 goals in ten, 13 in his last eight at home – the Everton striker could easily punish the shift to the United man.

He will face a trip to West Ham, while Ibrahimovic squares up to both Burnley and Manchester City away. With a Goodison Park encounter with Chelsea to follow before we shift to Double Gameweek assets, for many Fantasy managers, today will be the final farewell for Lukaku – a player who has been a spectacular servant since the season’s mid-way point.

Kane is heading in the opposite direction.

While the Spurs midfield is awash with consistent options – a fact demonstrated again in today’s win over Bournemouth – Kane is surely now the premium striker of choice.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side are in irrepressible form, with Kane now back installed as the spearhead to feed off the first-class service provided by Christian Eriksen and Son Heung-min in particular.

Kane went into the today’s encounter as part of 590,000 squads, with 251,000 of those owners immediately trusting him with the captaincy.

He was to score and assist for only the third time this season, sealing the maximum bonus to double Lukaku’s six-point tally.

Having delivered on the armband, Fantasy managers are now faced with a dilemma.

Ibrahimovic is clearly being brought in for his two fixtures as the default captaincy option and yet Spurs’ form, even heading into a testing trip to Crystal Palace, is difficult to ignore.

Looking at the past four matches for all sides, Pochettino’s men have scored 13 goals – five more than any other side. They also lead the way for attempts, shots in the box and big chances.

Comparing them directly with United, they’ve recorded 38 shots on target compared to 21 from Jose Mourinho’s side when both sides’ last four matches are considered.

Even if we can be certain that Ibrahimovic will figure in both his Gameweek 34 fixtures, it’s debatable whether he can better Kane’s potential output.

Spurs are seemingly hellbent on maintaining their title challenge, and the striker himself appears focused on closing on Lukaku in the Golden Boot race.

It wouldn’t be the first time that Spurs and Kane have outscored double Gameweek assets and punished those who dare overlook them. In Gameweek 34 last season, they hit four at Stoke City with Kane firing a brace after 200,000 shipped him out.

Nobody will be selling Kane this time around, but it’s the armband decision that looks key.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Bit of an eye-sore formatting mate, just assume we know who they play and DG'ers etc.

You cannot bench Alli, he can rip CPL a new one.

        Yeah sorry my bad..

I just wanted to highlight Maguire will be at home compared with Baines away..
Also King and Siggy will be at home Vs Alli away etc.

        Pick Jaku
        Alonso Baines Maguire Gibson Fabio
        Alli Eriksen King Zaha Siggy
        Kaku Kane Ibra

        So who to bench?

Siggy sadly, and cover HUL cleanie with Jak so you can start 1 or both MID def's for DGW depending on how you see Baines's chances.

Currently have 3 DGW players (Valencia, Zaha, De Roon). Almost certainly doing Vardy > Ibra for a free.

    A) Bench Sane (MUN) or De Roon (bou, SUN)?

Sunderland scoring a total fluke goal directly from a corner kick doesn't mean that West Ham's defense is terrible. Borini's goal was gifted by Randolph as well, that won't happen every game.

Lukaku will struggle a lot to score against West Ham, his away record is very poor.

Bit blinded by my team, no real rank movement in last few GW's, always hovering around 5-10k

2FT, 0TB and all the chips available

    Pickford/ Grant
    Alonso/ Valencia/ Robertson/ Fernandez/ Pieters
    Sanchez/ Siggy/ King/ Alli / Erick
    Ibra/ Lukaku/ Negredo

    1) Siggy + Pieters>>Zaha/ Gibson
    2) the above plus Grant>>Henn (-4)
    3) number 1 plus Negredo>>tellers
    4) something else?

1 FT & 1.3m ITB. No way to get Ibra unless -4.

    Which move would you pick?
    A : Baines -> Gibson … Play 3-5-2
    B1 : Origi -> Benteke … Play AOA 2-5-3
    B2 : Origi -> Negredo

    *Valdes
*Valencia - Alonso - Mustafi (Baines, Stephens)
    *Zaha - Eriksen - Alli - Sanchez - Walcott
    Kane - Lukaku - (Origi)

Guys i got 2FT 0.6 ITB (WC used) and strongly contemplating bringing in kane instead of ibra for aguero..not keen as well to remove lukaku..

    Valdes
    Alonso valencia vertonghen
    Sanchez eriksen alli zaha
    Aguero lukaku benteke
    Pickford jwp yoshida mcauley

    A. Aguero to ibra (same forward plan as B but an additional transfer for ibra to kane)

    B. Aguero/eriksen to Kane/sane (with the view of bringing in kosc/costa for valencia/benteke by gw36)

    Jaku/Foster
    Valencia/Clyne/Baines/Friend/Britos
    Alli/Siggy/Tadic/Zaha/Forshaw
    Kane/Ibra/Lukaku

    1FT and 0.7itb

    a. Foster to Valdes
    b. something else

    What would u do here?
    Thinking AOA chip next GW.

Also either just Ibra in for Aguero probably and save the other FT.
Have enough DGW'rs so maybe keep 1ft rolling oover for next GW..

    Anything else to consider?
I have used my WC already.

    Valdes,
    Bailly, Gibson.
Alli, Sanchez, Hazard, Zaha, De Roon.
    Kane, Aguero*, Origi*.

    Pickford, B Davies, Holgate, Yoshida
    2ft, 0.5m.

Have to use 1FT I guess, so Aguero to Ibra sounds good. If Sanchez fails to deliver, then Sanchez-Origi to someone-Ibra is also an option

Grant to Valdes and I'm GTG ?

    Grant*
    Walker Alonso Valencia
    Sanchez Dele Eriksen Coutinho
    Ibra(c) Kaku Benteke

    Jaku DeRoon Robertson Holgate

    What to do here:
    Hennessey Pickford
    Valencia Vert Gibson Yoshida Kaboul
    Sanchez Alli Sane Zaha Son
    Lukaku Costa Gabbi

I've got two FTs, but thinking of just doing Costa to Ibra and saving an FT

could get a Place if they Play 3 at the back

      Barragan - Chambers - Gibson - Bernardo - Fabio

      or

      Fabio - Friend as Wingbacks
