Dugout Discussion

Dugout Discussion – Chelsea vs Southampton

The third day of Gameweek 34 action brings us to Stamford Bridge as Chelsea entertain Southampton at 7.45pm.

Both Eden Hazard and Diego Costa return to the Blues’ first XI after appearing off the bench in the weekend FA Cup win over Spurs.

The Belgian’s goal and assist in last Saturday’s 4-2 triumph continued the form that has produced points in five of his last six league outings.

Costa attempts to address a run of two goals in ten appearances – indeed, he was the second most transferred out player for Gameweek 34, with over 136,000 sending the Spain international packing.

Pedro’s owners are left frustrated as the Spaniard’s run of nine successive Gameweek starts comes to an end this evening. Willian also warms the bench despite his Wembley double, as Cesc Fabregas comes in for the hosts instead.

Southampton, meanwhile, afford us some early scouting ahead of their back-to-back Double Gameweeks 36 and 37.

Up against a defence without a clean sheet in ten Gameweeks, Manolo Gabbiadini has the chance to catch the eye as a third forward option, while attacking midfielders Dusan Tadic and James Ward-Prowse could also play their way into our wildcard plans.

Nathan Redmond’s 6% owners are given cause for concern, however, as the winger drops to the bench for Sofiane Boufal.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Is this good enough for GW37? No WC and this will cost -4.

    DDG Jaku
    Alonso Valencia Huth Yoshida Holgate
    Sanchez Alli Son Sane King
    Kane Costa Gabbi

Costa, Gabbi, Sane and Huth in for Lukaku, Negredo, de Roon and Olsson over 35-37.

Lose Valencia for someone more likely to play and you're fine.

I'm a bit hesitant about Ars defense. Depends on formation, rotation and if Mustafi and Ox are fit... too many question marks for my taste.

If I go Arsenal, it will be because Gabriel has retained his place, so that I can spend more money in midfield.

But do you expect Arsenal to keep a clean sheet? If not, I think Monreal is a bit ti pricy

I think Monreal could be a golden pick. I have a feeling Wenger will keep the formation allowing him to be basically playing as a winger, Alonso like 🙂
I'm pretty sure I'm gonna get him in for Gibson. I also have Valencia though, and no wc, which is proving to be a pain.

Surely Gibbs will get a game though. Infact, I think he is more suited to the role as he has the pace to get up and down the wing quickly. Monreal has been getting caught all season and playing as the only wide man makes him even more vulnerable.

Fair point, Gibbs could throw a spanner in the works. Wenger seems to trust/like Monreal a lot though and he played really well agaist City to be fair.

Much better wc line up lined up after last night's Scoutcast:
Courtois, Pickford; Smith, Clichy, Gabriel, Yoshida, Stephens; Sane, Hazard, Sanchez, King, Romeu; Kane, Costa, Afobe.

Got rid of might plays Walcott and Pedro and changed KDB to Haz, only lost Maguire for Sunderland at home and taking a risk on Gabriel instead of Monorail.
Waiting until as late as poss though, hopefully can wait until next gw as need all the money for this.
    Any thoughts?

Can see why you went budget on defense. That being said – what do people expect from Gabriel, honestly? The only match I would bet money on an Ars cleanie is against Sunderland.

Anyone feel like critiquing this WCT? (currently on Draft 11 or 12).

    Forster, Pickford
    Alonso, Daniels, Clichy, Yoshida, Rose
    Sanchez, Hazard, Sane, Eriksen, King
    Kane, Gabbiadini, Afobe

Looks good, 6 same as me and I might not bother with Costa & Sane, unsure yet.

Which combo would you suggest for Gw35 onwards ?

    A: Pickford + Gabbiadini
    B: Forster + Afobe
    C: Cech + Afobe
    D: DDG + Afobe

Good stuff. Similar to mine but I'm short of funds for Vertonghen.

Soton defensive double act is gonna hurt many I feel.

Probably. But you need some cheap enablers if you want Sanch/Haz/Costa/Kane. I'd rather go that way than have someone like Anichebe.

Need advise of what route to go down, played WC pre GW34

    DDG Pickford
    Vertonghen Bailly Stones Barragan Stephens
    Hazard Eriksen Walcott Zaha deRoon
    Lukaku Kane Negredo

    1FT 4.4m itb

Do I do route A or Route B over 3 GWS for -8

    A
    Walcott > Sanchez

    B
    Walcott > Sane
    Zaha > King
    Barragan > Monreal
    deRoon > Redmond
    Negredo > Gabbiadini

Gives me 13 DGWs for GW 37

B looks like it should pay off, except Redmond didn't start last night I don't think so might be a risk.

got 6.7m for Redmond so do have a small selection

Anyone considering Schmeichel alongside Pickford for the remainder of the season? I'm on WC now and gives me

    35 - Pickford (BOU)
    36 - Schmeichel (WAT)
37 - Bench Boost - Pickford (SWA + Ars), Schmeichel (mci, TOT)
    38 - Schmeichel (BOU)

Seems good but Schmeichel's double of (mci, tot) doesn't seem overly appealing.

A fine choice. Cech and Forster do come with an extra fixture though.

Maxing out on Arsenal/Soton elsewhere though I think

        Soton - Gabi, JWP, Cedric

        Arsenal - Sanchez, Ozil, Gabriel/Holding

Does anyone know how to reorder the columns in a stats table in the members area?

The columns I selected are in alphabetical order in the table at the moment.

Normally you can left click on the heading of the column and drag it to where you want it

        Thanks 🙂

Doesn't work on a tablet (like most things in the members area). Will try on a desktop.

Need some advice guys on this lot, currently 2nd in my ML chasing a 50 point lead so its a chase of go hard or go home I guess.

    Currently done these 2 moves this week;

    Zaha + Rashford > King + Gabbi (-4)

    Considering a further hit to bolster my team ready for the DGW37 and pondering a further move of;

    Son > Hazard (-8)

    Current team as it stands;
    Heaton (Jakupovic)
    Valencia Alonso Yoshida (Robertson) (Chambers)
    Sanchez Alli Son King (Carroll)
    Kane Lukaku Gabbiadini

    £6.2ITB

Should I do the Hazard move this week?, leave it? or change somebody else?.

Its all about maximising the DGWers for 37 now as its the only way Im gonna catch my ML leader who is only doing moves to try and block me off.

    Any advice greatly appreciated!
